Taking Apart The Wallas 95 DU

This is truly one of the best, most informative posts I have ever read. Thank you so much for putting together this much needed document. Al

    Satellite Radio Antenna Location

Upon further investigation, I now realize that I'm a total idiot and that the picture posted above is only the mounting base. The external marine antennas do indeed seem to be priced in the $60-$80 range. Al

    Satellite Radio Antenna Location

Here's an external marine satellite radio antenna I found for a modest price. It's a Shakespeare Style SM-31. At only $21.95, and given what a pain it is to drop the electronics shelf, I might be tempted to opt for something I know will work right from the git-go. Al

    New Wireless Router is Awesome!

I believe it would be "fall"; you know, spring, summer, fall, and the Dark Ages. And I think they're starting to get to me! Al

    Satellite Radio Antenna Location

The more I listen to you guys and think about it, I might be better off with an externally mounted boat antenna. Since I do have radar mounted on a Power Tower just above the shelf, it's possible I could get some shielding. Thanks for the advice. Al

I take it you're not talking woodworking here? LOL Al

    Satellite Radio Antenna Location

Having gotten tired of the tangle of wires, we are upgrading to a satellite-ready radio on the MOOSE. My question is, does the antenna need to be mounted outside of the cabin or, given that the cabin is fiberglass, can it be mounted inside in the overhead shelf? Al

    Boat Calendars????

At www.arraich.com I found templates to make my own using Photoshop Elements v. 5, which doesn't come with its own as some previous versions had. I put together a 2008 Lake Superior Calendar using twelve of our own photos. I had a blast doing it and sharing it with friends. Al

    Water Tank Drain

One of my boat projects for the coming year is to install a potable water tank drain. Since the MOOSE is rarely on a trailer, draining the tank between trips is somewhat tedious. The stainless coupling will be installed with 5200 in the cabin drain which will have to be bored out to one inch...

Do you keep your boat loaded or unloaded?

Every spring I try to go through all compartments and take out the things from the previous season that I thought might come in handy but never used. Some of these items creep back in, but the process forces me to rethink what might truly be of use and what is just clutter. As it seems we...

    Potable Water Filtration

Has anyone had any experience with installing an in-line filter between the tank and the faucet? It seems like it would be an easy thing to do and one that should markedly reduce the off- plastic and chlorine -tastes we have discussed in the past. Some filters I've seen have a life of 1-5000...

    Fish Recipes

It is said that the best Norwegian lutefisk is allowed to soak out on the front porch so that the neighborhood dogs can come by and urinate on it. Al

Photoshop "101" - Easy tips for better images

This morning I took a very uninspiring photo from our archives and tweaked it a bit with Photoshop Elements. This is what the original looked like: Then I cropped it, selected the sky, land and lighthouse, and water separately, and adjusted lighting levels and contrast. I applied a film...

    Fuel Capacity on CD-22

I have a 2001 and somewhere along the way I think I came up with the idea each tank could actually accomodate 23 gallons. I think I purposely ran one dry once and then filled it up at a gas station. Also, I have three red plastic Briggs & Stratton six gallon cans and they squeeze beautifully...

    BBQ Safety

I have a rod-holder mount dead-center on the inboard side of the transom well. It holds the Magma over the cockpit and we've grilled on it many times, as in the rain, with the all the canvas up except the aft panel. And we have yet to catch anything on fire or blow anything up. Al

    Starting a cold kicker

Bob and Joe have offered good advice. The temperatures you talk of aren't all that cold; the kicker should start just fine. I recall a few years back when a friend and I were netting whitefish just before freeze-up. We had a 14' boat with my 1985 Johnson 15 HP pulled up on a rocky shore. We...
