    bottom barrier coat

I think the main problem that started the hull erosion is your bunk carpeting. Indoor/ outdoor carpeting the carpeting that is installed on your trailer bunks now will get as hard as 80 grit sand paper after being dinked in saltwater for years. So when your trailer is going down the bumpy roads...

    bottom barrier coat

Your gelcoat is wore down to the laminate layer. To do repair properly, it would take putting the boat on stands, get two quarts of gelcoat, MEK hardener, some wax additive, and green tint coloring for gelcoat. Mix up gelcoat with no wax. Roll out or brush 3 coats of unwaxed onto exposed areas...

    Twin engine dual battery question

Caution! There is a reason that C-Dory wired the batteries separate on the twin engines boats. You can not have two running outboards on one battery bank! This will fry both outboard's charging system. Only one out board per battery bank. Carry a set of jumper cables only in an emergency jump...

    Twin engine dual battery question

This is what I am using on my Stbd. engine. My boat is wired the same as yours. I just bought the Engle 27 freezer/ fridge, am testing this battery out with more draw. New engines charges put out 17 amps no problems so far. Interstate 27DC Marine / RV Battery (this battery has been in the boat...

Dual tanks - how to have two gauges?

If your fuel tanks have a sending unit for each tank. Then run a red wire from each tank sending unit all the way forward to the 3 way toggle switch. Wire one sending unit wire to the right side, the other to the left side, the gauge to the middle pole on the switch. Then connect your black...

    Rules of the Road...

The "stand on" vessel would be the vessel that is going "with the current" (down stream) and would have first choice on passing arrangements. The give way vessel going against the current, has better maneuverability, which is the "give way" vessel. Port to port is always preferred, in this case...

    Insurance

Thanks Bob on that recommendation. This post hit a nerve with me. I was thinking I could sell my boat tomorrow for $47,000! Considering what people are getting for boats that have the original engine on them. I was also thinking that my truck is insured with Progressive too. In the unlikely...

    Twin Honda 50 feedback needed

Wanted to put my 2 cents in. DON'T waste your money on the BF50's. I just repowered my boat with BF40's EFI 2022 engines. I looked into the BF50's just because thought it might be worth the extra $2000 more for top end push "IF" needed". After putting 28 hours on the 2022 BF40 EFI engines I am...

    Insurance

I just repowered my boat a couple of months ago. Figured 16 motors, 26 hull, 5 trailer. Agreed value of $47,000. Progressive declined the agreed value. Sent them the new receipts on everything. Haven't heard anything, its been a week. They were quick to canceled my insurance after 2 weeks and...

Air conditioning options for CD 22 or Venture 23

I don't think the easy start prolongs the life of the ac. It means that it's easy on the start up amperage draw. The advantage of having one is that you can run your big rooftop ac on a standard 15 amp 120v plug without popping the breaker. So no need for 30amp service at the dock or campground...

Air conditioning options for CD 22 or Venture 23

I installed the easy starter in the rooftop ac. I did this install for a smaller Generac 2000EU generator. The Generac would not start the ac even with this. I believe that Generac inflated the numbers on this generator. So I bit the bullet and went for the new Honda 2200EU. After watch reviews...

Air conditioning options for CD 22 or Venture 23

Living in South Florida it has been a requirement to have a/c on the boat. We have the 13,500 BTU roof mounted a/c. Last year started using it 90% of the time all day, underway all the time in the summer. Like sitting in the truck on the but on the water. When the outside temps are 98 deg. with...

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

I got lucky finding my Honda 40s. Otherwise they had a 6-month waiting list from Japan for Hondas. I thought the install was going to be plug and play with basically the same motors. Not after 24 years have passed! EVERYTHING has to be changed out with repowering an old boat. One advantage of...

All I want for Christmas is a new engine...

I repowered my boat 3 weeks ago with new Honda 2022 twin 40's. Each motor was $6500 rigging was $3000 with all the latest Honda controls (2022) NEMA 2000 network. Total cost with tax came to $17,000. I did the install myself. It's like a new boat now and burns 1/3 less fuel than the old carb...

Planning a Key West trip and need help...

Base yourself out of Bahia Honda State Park! It is actually way better than anything you're going to find in Key West. Not to mention in my opinion, the park has the best beach in the Florida Keys. Drive the truck down to Key West, leave the boat at Bahia Honda. We use our C-Dory 22 down there...
