That helps on anything liquid. I stops ANY air leakage from a poor seal. I use it on glues, paints, liquid elect. tape etc, etc. A container with a pop-on top will blow the top (or leak)- stored in a hot garage though (see above !).

If you are lucky enough to still have any building going on in your area - you can get buckets from painters. Just let the paint dry, it then will peel out leaving you a nice clean "feed" bucket. Tip from a rancher friend of mine.

The canisters for both propane, and butane SEEM to be pretty safe, until they are used, and removed from the appliance with fuel still in them. They then don't always reseal perfectly. But, that said, I still like to store them where they will vent overboard - in the motorwell, or in a hanger...
