Too much low speed operation can cause cylinder glazing and fuelk blow by past the rings. This dilutes the oil with gasoline, and can cause engine damage. A mix of operaing rpms, including planing speed operation will give the longest life.

Was the fuel in the tank treated with stabilizer? Does the fuel have ethonal in it? That would probably be my only concern; that the old fuel has lost octane and gotten stale or has absorbed moisture. If the fuel is bad you could cause issues with the fuel system and gum up injectors or VST...

You can blow compressed air into the outlet with the engine running and that will often clear a clog.

The paddle wheel style fuel flow sensors don't work well with fuel injected engines. The problem is that most of the fuel injected engines have two pumps and fuel is drawn into a small tank (vapor seperator tank or similar) on the engine, so the fuel drawn by the paddle wheel happens in bursts...
