    New Pressurized Portable Tanks

The irony is that we are now facing possible spills that in a single incident would far exceed what the tanks would vent in their lifetime.

    New Pressurized Portable Tanks

Had one of these new tanks spray fuel all over me as I removed a fuel line. At least a pint of fuel. Hate these new regs.

    Service costs

Too much low speed operation can cause cylinder glazing and fuelk blow by past the rings. This dilutes the oil with gasoline, and can cause engine damage. A mix of operaing rpms, including planing speed operation will give the longest life.

    Installing New Garmin Transducer

Yes, it can be done, but as noted, it never seems to work quite right. You might want to plug the transducer into the sounder and dangle it in the water to be sure it's a defective transducer before running the new wire in the boat.

    Advice getting started

If in doubt hire a surveyor. They will go over the boat and give you an evaluation of the structure, and deficiencies as well as place a value on the boat. You should be there when the survey is being done, as you will learn a lot about the boat. Besides, your insurance company may want a...

    Monel Staples

:thup on the Black and Decker Staple Gun. I bought one shortly after they were introduced years ago. There are now two of them in my shop and I love them. I recently picked up a Ryobi staple gun to go with my other Ryobi cordless tools. The only downside is that in some tight spots it's hard to...

    C-Dory Sales-Dealers

We post used boats when we get them on the lot. There have not been a lot of used C-Dory's changing hands lately (although we did just sell a 2005 25 Cruiser). The factory may have an issue with new boats being posted with prices, I don't know what the current dealer agreement is or even if...

    19 ' Angler- Will a 75 hr work?

The 19 is just a shortened 22 hull. It does tend to need more lift in the stern than the 22 to get up on plane. That's why trim tabs are standard on the 19 (or at least were) and a permatrim or other foil may help as well. We had a customer with a yamaha 60 on a 19 (they bought it used), and...

    Logging into C-Brats with Firefox

I can't get on with firefox either. I log on, and it just goes back to the login page without accepting the login. Doesn't say I've entered anything incorrectly, just doesn't log in.

leaky cockpit hatches - rehash please

On the topic of the wet bilge 25's- has anyone added ventilation to the boat's lazarette and has that reduiced the mold issues?

Ack!!! This is why I like to do things myself.

That would be interesting to know. I don't have my core samples handy, so I'm just going off of memery, as I remeber the core being very dense, but can't remember if it would allow screwing into easily. However, as I get older, I find that my memory betrays me at times.....

Ack!!! This is why I like to do things myself.

Some thoughts- *When I last toured the factory, the process was to glass in the transom all the way to the bottom of the boat, and the balsa coring began about an inch forward of the transom to avoid accidentally drilling into the balsa when installing things like trim tabs or transducers...

    29 Venture Design Info

As someone who was exposed to the 29 Venture as we were becoming a C-Dory dealer I didn't have any pre conceived ideas about the boats. I looked at the 29 Venture in comparison to the 27 Shamrock Mackinaw we were selling. The biggest complaint abouty the Shamrock was that it only slept two and...

    Re-Service Needed?

Was the fuel in the tank treated with stabilizer? Does the fuel have ethonal in it? That would probably be my only concern; that the old fuel has lost octane and gotten stale or has absorbed moisture. If the fuel is bad you could cause issues with the fuel system and gum up injectors or VST...

    Re-Service Needed?

Glad you're feeling better and are ready to get back on the water! What kind of engine and what was done at the service? I'm assuming oil change, lower unit change, maybe spark plugs. Was the water pump serviced at that time? You may be just fine to fire the engine off, but a little more...

    Cooling system

You can blow compressed air into the outlet with the engine running and that will often clear a clog.

    Switched power source.

The paddle wheel style fuel flow sensors don't work well with fuel injected engines. The problem is that most of the fuel injected engines have two pumps and fuel is drawn into a small tank (vapor seperator tank or similar) on the engine, so the fuel drawn by the paddle wheel happens in bursts...

    Double Hulled Boats

The Venture Series of boats (23 and 26) also use a similar interior pan arrangement as the Marinaut. I'm not sure how it's sealed in the hull, and I seem to recall seeing one with an access "pie" plate, which might compromise and water tightness of the space.
