    Non-functional tilt/trim indicator

Jim, Page three in my album has two photos of the problem. Your yami 115 is probably the same design. You should be familiar with the safety wire as they hold most aircraft together.
  2. You can see the crack just above the screw. The wire holds it together.

    Non-functional tilt/trim indicator

It is a poor design. When mine broke on the yami a few years back I just wrapped it with a .020" wire safety wrap. Been holding fine ever since.

Kayak storage on a 22 Cruiser

For less than $50 in wood, brass screws and a little house paint I made a proto type rack that can do it all. It turned out to be quite durable and retains the salty look. And the color matches the boat. The canoe in the pics (bottom pg 2) is an 18 footer. The deck doubles as a sun deck...

    Kicker Relocation

On page 2 of my album you can see some pics of a yamaha 15 h.p. four stroke mounted to starboard, on a mini jacker, next to a yamaha 80 main which is the physical size of the 100 h.p. Just detuned to 80 h.p. The kicker clears both the main engine and the Bennett 120 sport tabs. The tiller will...

    Portable washdown/shower

I saw a small add in a magazine about these portable pumps under the "Rule" brand. They say they are good for salt/fresh water and even diesel fuel transfer. For washing down the deck or to shower with. Can be dropped over the side to pump whatever water your floating in. With aligator clips...

    Corrosion in the carbs

Harvey, When fuel tanks were made of steel they were kept full to minimize the air pocket at the top of the tank. The fuel and steel tank would condensate as the temperature changed and with the air cause rust and sediment. And you had the fuel going bad with age. With the plastic tank I...

    Corrosion in the carbs

Ken, There should not be a problem with mixing. But for the best performance use the B-12 before the stabil if you can. The fuel stabilizer primarily keeps the fuel from breaking down over time. And keeping it in the tank over the winter is what it is designed for. The fuel varnish begins to...

Prop CD 25 130 hp Honda thoughts about lower pitch prop

Bob, I have the same situation with a heavy 22. The yamaha props all seem to drop from a 15 pitch to a 13 pitch and skip the 14 pitch all together. I can find one 13" x 14 pitch in SS at $400 big ones on the web. I would rather experiment with cheaper aluminum. There is one 14 pitch I...

    Corrosion in the carbs

Don't toss out the spray carb cleaner yet. Without going into a lot of detail: All carbs basically have two types of passage ways. They are either passage ways for fuel to travel. IE: idle circuit, main (high speed) jet, maybe an accelerator circuit, and a cold start or inrichment circuit...

    Corrosion in the carbs

Glad to hear your back running again. Good advise on the frequent usage! Anytime you find water in the filters you can easily drain each of the carb float bowls into a small container for moisture and dirt inspection. The carbs are vented, so when you rinse the salt from the engines there is...

    Corrosion in the carbs

Check the fuel tank vent holes to ensure they are not facing forward and picking up water when the boat is operated. Water in the fuel is bad. Salt water in the fuel is worse. Not sure when they changed, but the newer boats fuel tank vents are mounted above the rub rail. I assume because of...

Pre -purchase questions for 21-EC ?

If you want more speed why not drop the diesel and go with an outboard/bracket combo? Twins? If you want to retain the Ranger look mount the outboard inside like the bartender and other fishing boats have done? Check out the video clips on the bartenders. Some are inboard, some are outboard...

    50-1 mix virses 100-1 mix

I had a yami 15 h.p., 100:1 mix for 22 years on a 12 ft skiff. Sold the boat motor/trailer for $1500 after 22 years (when I got the dory) of economical fun. Never should have sold it... Never a problem. Didn't even have to change the water pump or the rope start. The only thing that ever...

    Towing resistance

When you check the trailer wheels. Raise one up at a time and check for free rotation. On the axle with brakes. Run a screw driver thru the actuater slide and use a crow bar to pry the master cylinder piston slide toward the boat just like when you slow down. Have an assistant hold the bar...

    Twins vs Single

The CD isn't a speed boat. If going with twins I always thought a set of high thrust engines that would equal the max H.P. rating for the boat would be a great combination. Big prop/gearcase with high torque/big low pitched props should match the CD hull design. Should provide good power using...

    Would You Ever Repower a 22' With a 60 Horse Outboard ?

Harry, I've got a 2000 yami 80 on a 22 cruiser. I would recommend the engine. Never had a bit of trouble with mine. I am the fourth owner. It would run similar to the Honda carbed 90. The new fuel injected models perform much better. The yamaha is a good engine. The 80 is the detuned 100...
