    Nav Lights

Tivo: At least on my Tomcat, the wiper self-parking circuit just has a simple fuse that occasionally blows. All that is needed to have the wipers park automatically is to replace the fuse. Of course, you may have a different setup.

    Lunch Anchor

I unlock the anchor pin when under way. The wildcat and pawl seem to hold on to the chain quite well.

    Lunch Anchor

Agree with Jim. In know that you expect only a minimal current, but a midship anchor point might leave you open to being broadsided by unexpected winds, waves, and wakes! At the minimum, you might roll enough to make all the drawers fly out. Also, 50 foot of line in 20 foot of water would not...

    Yikes!

Thank you. I had not considered this possibility before. Good to know! Any idea of the total amp load on the cord vs. the rated load?

    Wiper Removal

On my boat, there were two setscrews that held the wiper arm on to the shaft. One was clearly visible, but the other was hidden on the opposite side of the shaft. Once I found the second setcrew, I was able to return the mallet to the toolbox.

    current tom cat owners

Jim: Charlie and I have Topcat in a marina in Clear Lake. We took the boat to Corpus Christi for a month last year. Make sure you visit Rockport and Key Allegro. Also, the ICW is very pretty between Rockport and Corpus Christi. The Lydia Ann channel is also a good drive... Corpus Christi bay...

Dagnabbit -- I should've been paying attention the weather!

Mike: There should be two identical fuses side by side. Just to make sure you replaced the correct fuse, you may want to pull the other one and make sure the port macerator does not start.

Cape Cruiser sold - Now What??

Warren: Yes, that is the space. "Bosun's locker" sounds so much more nautical than "the cabinet opposite the head" :D Bob: I had assumed it was coming via the cable conduit. Let me investigate it further... Alok

Cape Cruiser sold - Now What??

Hank: Here two more bits from another Tomcat 255 owner... Once you are up on plane, the mileage does not seem to vary much at all regardless of speed- just above 2 miles/gallon. In smooth water we maintain about 30 mph. We have Suzuki 150s and have been happy with them. Top speed is around 43...

    R-29 in PassageMaker

Marc: You are correct about the speed. In the article, the cruising speed is listed as 8-18 knots, and the max speed as 22 knots. Not too shabby! The interior fit and finish looks beautiful, and there are thoughtful touches throughout the boat.

    R-29 in PassageMaker

This might be of interest to those of us who were on the site before Ranger split from C-Dory. Just picked up the October copy of PassageMaker. The new Ranger R-29 is the "cover boat" with a really positive write-up inside. Seems like Jeff and the Ranger factory guys did a good job. The speed...

    Epoxy barrier coats?

Not a big deal, but this is directly from the company web site. The italics are mine. Recommended Uses: For marine and fresh water immersion service; for racing sailboats; powerboats with average operating speeds of greater than 30 knots; racers who want to obtain a hard, fast, sleek racing...

    Epoxy barrier coats?

The Tomcat cruises at 28-30 knots. At these speeds, the Micron CSC that I currently have ablates more rapidly at the water-air interface halfway back from the bow and also towards the back of the tunnel. The epaint EP-ZO, designed for "powerboats with average operating speeds of greater than...

Need advice for redoing my C-Dory bottom

Micron CSC is an ablative anti-fouling paint. It is meant for trailerable boats- it retains its effectiveness even when a boat is repeatedly trailered and re-launched (many paints do not). It does wear off and will need to be reapplied. Like any anti-fouling paint, it is expensive- and toxic...

    Epoxy barrier coats?

    1. There is no information on this site (that I am aware of) indicating whether a 5 year-old C-Dory was laid with polyester or vinylester resin. Even with newer boats, it is my impression that the smaller models do not have any vinylester. Vinylester is more blister resistant than polyester. 2...
