Need advice for redoing my C-Dory bottom

I need some advice on reconditioning the bottom of my 26 year old, 22’ Angler. The Ole & Lena has served us well since I bought her new in 84’ and although I constantly work on keeping her looking her best, the bottom below the waterline is looking like it needs attention. Over the years we had to beach her on tide flats at our cabin in Katchamak Bay. Although I’ve never hit a rock, the bottom is showing wear on the jell coat with some gouges into the glass fabric. So I have two questions. (1) Should I use Jell Coat to fill the gouges or white Marine Tex? (2) I plan to paint the bottom black below the waterline. I called one company in Wasilla and they gave me a quote of $1800-$2000! I have the boat in a heated garage so I can do the job myself this winter. What is the recommended bottom paint to cover the jell coat? Interlux Micron CSC has been suggested by West Marine. I don’t need anti-fouling paint because the boat sits on a trailer when she isn’t in salt water. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Micron CSC is an ablative anti-fouling paint. It is meant for trailerable boats- it retains its effectiveness even when a boat is repeatedly trailered and re-launched (many paints do not). It does wear off and will need to be reapplied. Like any anti-fouling paint, it is expensive- and toxic.

That said, you have noted that you do not need anti-fouling paint because your boat is stored on the trailer, so whoever recommended Micron CSC was not responding to your particular situation. I guess you need some kind of regular paint, or no paint at all! I am be curious to see what others, including Dr. Bob, recommend.
