Why you put the @#$%&! bimini down

They've been there since February, which as you said is unprecedented. The seals can't last forever. I'm surprised they haven't left yet.

Why you put the @#$%&! bimini down

That was toward the south end of Hood Canal, where transient orcas were dining on seals. The bimini joint broke my heart when I got home! More photos in my album.

    Boarded by the Coast Guard

Just to be clear: I don't mind being boarded. Bring it on. It's important work they're doing, and other than my one issue, I thought they conducted themselves like complete pros. I just question the safety of their going out of their way to stop me in the shipping lanes.

    Boarded by the Coast Guard

Yep. They counted flares, but they were far more interested in running the names of those on board. They demanded driver's licenses even from my passengers.

    Boarded by the Coast Guard

I got boarded yesterday, in Admiralty Inlet south of Useless Bay. The guys said "We're everywhere this weekend," so be forewarned. Despite passing the inspection, I was kinda pissed off. I don't mind the inspection, but they made me stop in the middle of the Seattle shipping lanes. I was...

    Bay Marine (Kitsap peninsula, WA)

Anyone ever dealt with them? I have some work I need done on the CheckRaise, and getting in at EQ is like waiting for a Supreme Court vacancy.

    Run Down Battery

Okay, a question about two batteries on a Perko. The system I inherited has a simple switch (On/Off). I had assumed that the second battery just passively sat there until you 1) ran down the first and 2) needed to switch to ON and give it a jump from the second. Until last week. It was after...

Has anyone made a center seat?

Al, this is a great idea. Do you have the much-maligned factory ice box? I do, and I'm wondering about clearance for the brackets. I don't think there's much. And there's no way it could ever lie flat, not with the stupid ice box there. I might yet join the ranks of those who tore that puppy out.

Has anyone made a center seat?

Ken: do you rent her out for both day-trips and weekends? David: I have the factory everything. Hansville is at the very northernmost tip of the Kitsap peninsula, about seven miles north of Kingston.

Has anyone made a center seat?

Okay, so we're inventing this thing. Even better. :) These are interesting ideas. The bar solution is along the lines of what I was thinking someone might have done. And I definitely could stand to raise the helm seat; ironically, the increased visibility would probably make me use it more...

Has anyone made a center seat?

I don't know about the rest of you, but when underway I usually stand with my head centered on the center window. It obviously helps with load balancing and visibility, but it's also tiresome on the old legs. It got me wishing for a stool...and wondering if anyone's actually fashioned a solution.

    Boarded by the Coast Guard

So what does the inspection entail? I presume they wants to see a PFD for every passenger plus a Type IV, flares, a portable horn, functioning lights, etc.

    keeping water potable

Chris: so after the initial disinfection, you don't add anything to the drinking water? I would think some sort of treatment would be needed to keep bacteria at bay.
