    water in transom

This has happened to me twice in chop, and I'm 1) having a hard time isolating the variables and 2) wondering how common it is. When I'm at cruising speed, water will shoot up behind one of the Hondas and bubble into the transom well, quickly filling it. The trim angle and wave direction don't...

    Fish/Crab Whackers

Gary, I'm in similar straights (so to speak). Tons of experience boating and fishing in the midwest, hardly any of which translates out here. Tides, lanes, rips, swells, following seas, charts, subs, 50# behemoths with unknown self-defense capabilities...it's all a new world. Makes me really...

    iPod on board

Well I work for the bloodsuckers at Microsoft, and familiarity hath indeed bred contempt. In my case, better the devil I don't know. Much better. I've had no problems whatsoever with iPod; indeed, I've been quite delighted. (And lest anyone get confused, you don't have to keep paying money; only...

    iPod on board

I have a stereo on board, but with the pounding a C-Dory gives it, I found the cd player to be pretty useless when I'm underway. I was skeptical about using an iPod, and an outing in chop where I had it lying loosely on the dash did nothing to dispel those concerns. Yesterday, though, I velcroed...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I got my new hydrophone wet. It works on a 9V battery and has a sensor that you lower into the water 45 feet, and I hooked its output up to an FM transmitter so that I could listen over the CheckRaise's stereo. The orcas presently in Hood Canal are still 50 miles south of my slip, so I settled...

    keeping water potable

Great responses, thanks. Anyone have a brand of treatment chemical that they're loyal to? I was just looking at this stuff. They don't say what's in it, but they claim that one treatment is good for five years. What's the active ingrediant, uranium?

    keeping water potable

I'm wondering what everyone does to treat their water tank and keep it from becoming a giant petri dish. Or do you just not drink the water?

    storage behind wallas?

I finally went with the teak. Here's the finished product: And yeah, that's velcro. I thought I'd see how I liked it first. (Translation: and so it shall the "temporary fix" remain forever.)
  9. (CheckRaise) A galley storage solution. The teak rail and standalone shelf unit are simply velcroed in.

Very nice. Where'd you get those?

    storage behind wallas?

Yeah, this is really nifty. Same guy has an enviable array of hooks and racks all over the cabin. I found a teak rackthat fits nicely behind the wallas, but there's still wasted space, so I kept looking. I'm thinking about simply glueing some 3" rail to the counter and thereby using every last...

    storage behind wallas?

I'm curious to see what folks have put in that 32x6 space behind the stove. Its incline is such that the top intrudes into the space a bit, but there's still plenty of room for a spice rack or the like.

Question from a wannabe Dory Cap'n: Open transom?

Anyone got a picture of Sundog's modified transom?

Help Quick! Gypsy Only or Gypsy + Drum on Horizon 600??

Great! Did you install it yourself, and if so, how'd it go? I just ordered the 600GF (free fall) and the 15/300 combination Mike uses on TyBoo. Once I get it installed, I'll check back in here.

Great thread, Pat. I'm two months behind you, so I really appreciate it. Do you have this puppy installed yet?

Thanks! FYI, I just talked to Phil, and he said he doesn't do this sort of thing.

I need a mechanic for a pre-purchase inspection of a used C-Dory on the Kitsap penninsula. Any recommendations?
