2016 Chesapeake Bay Pocket Yacht Rendezvous (CBPYR)

I would love to bring Poopsy, our new to us Ranger Tug R21 Classic, to such an event. But, that is a really long tow. Maybe we will be able to do a piece of the Erie Canal next year that would tie into your event. Now, that would be fun.

    Repowering of 22 foot C-Dory

Double ditto's on the twin 50 hp Suzuki option. Also almost equal ditto's on the E-tech option. The days of Honda and Yamaha dominance are over as there are so many excellent options...not to disparage Honda or Yami as they are good too. But my experience base is with E-tech and Suzi.

    Towing a 25' with what?

I bought my 2006 dodge 2500 diesel for 25,000 with 50 thousand miles on it. That was the book price then. I was shocked to find out that the book price on the truck with 125,000 miles on it now and 7 years later it is booked at 24,500 dollars. Check out the Ford and Chevy depreciation...

half way done fixing up 1981 classic

Very very nice. When you began were there any core issues with that boat? What was its history in terms of being slipped and stored out doors. I've been looking at some older C-Dory's to replace my 2006 that just sold. But there has been concern expressed on the Brats site about core...

Loss of life on Mobile Bay 3 dead, 3 missing.

They were smart to get their sails down relatively early, apparently. I think the fact that the helmsman didn't have on a preserver was pretty bad, although it looked like someone tried to get one on her, but they gave up. Scary looking sky, but the big boat they were on seemed to take it all...

    Glen Canyon (now Lake Powell)

The great thing about the dam is that now, at age 71, I can also explore and do all of the things the rough old lady in the film did when she was young. However, I can't go around naked because I burn badly, but that doesn't stop a lot of people. I love the last scene. Someone enjoying the...

    Still C-razy is sold.

My boat, Still C-razy has been sold to a nice young feller up in Washington State. I don't know how to remove my ad, so I'd appreciated it if someone would tell me how or do it. I'm sure the Navy lad who bought it will be checking in soon and often.

    Price

USAA and others can be convinced. If you show them the price of a new version of a 22 cruiser c-dory for example, the 2015 equipped that same as a 2006 it comes out to be around 75 grand with twins and premium trailer and good electronics. A C-dory hull isn't wearing out over 20 or more years...

2006 C dory 22 cruiser with twin Suzuki 50's plus goodies.

The boat is out of storage and all systems have been gone through. The kiss stove is on its way for overhaul and upgrade to Kenyon. It's clear that I'm not going to get top dollar for this boat--something that all boat sellers strive for and seldom achieve. Most potential buyers are hoping to...

twin yamaha 40's oil in fuel

Unidentified something in a bottle of fuel stabilizer? Could be anything. I'll bet you will have to go for an end to end fuel system tank clean, hose clean, and carb tear down. I dump everything into old jugs from kerosene to oil to paint thinner to dirty paint brush cleaner and whatever else...

    Some advice still needed

6 hp won't get you a lot of headway with a combo of wind, current and accompanying waves. But at least you will have options of going down current and down wind or holding the nose into the waves. No power at all is not an option.

    Some advice still needed

I didn't read the other posts real close, but you do have a good kicker motor, right? I can't imagine heading to where you are without one.

2006 C dory 22 cruiser with twin Suzuki 50's plus goodies.

No refrigerator, but then I'm one of those that believes in the fewer systems, the less battery discharge and management issues and the less overall to go wrong. porta potties are the best low tech invention ever. I know because I've had holding tank boats before. High quality ice coolers do...

    Another Florida Boat Crash

Key shuts down my Suzuki with no problem. Aldo, the lanyard switch. Something fishy about how that boat was running wide open like that. Two people, so there was no health issue. Even two drunks might be able to see the land approaching. Turn off key, take out of gear, lanyard, steer...

    freshwater pump problems

When I installed my fresh water pump, It kept blowing spade fuses. I put an in-line fuse in that accepts a slo-blow fuse. That took care of the problem. The start-current on the fresh water pumps is much higher than the run current. The spade fuses, if you are using them pop immediately if...

    Twin 40's Prop Question.

I don't have specific prop numbers for you, but but if you are 5200 at wot, you definitely need to go down. Re-pitching works if the outfit doing it is any good. So for 65 bucks each, you need to drop at least 1. Personally I'd rather be some under pitched than over. Lugging these engines...

    2015 Repower

Johnson E-Techs. You won't go wrong wrong from fuel economy to reliability to torque and to weight. Also, I do like the Tohatsu. 20 million Asian professional fisherman can't be wrong. I've had several Tohatsu engines and all have performed extremely well. But re-powering a 22, i'd go with...
