    06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

On the good news side of the crab equation, I know some folks who have already been catching large ones above Chestertown - it's very early for them to be that far up river. We had a half-bushel of steamed crabs last weekend, and they were terrific. Will keep our fingers crossed for some fat...

    06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

Hi Sea Angel - yes, that's definitely viable. From the south, it's quicker to head NE into Eastern Bay and then up through Prospect Bay and Kent Narrows – cuts off several miles if you don’t go all the way around Love Point at the north end of Kent Island (chart 12270). I don’t know the...

    06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

Man, 39 boats is a gathering, Pat! Of course you have a slight advantage over there, what with being closer to the factory, a longer tradition and all that. Taking a look at the map of the boats out there on the left coast and those on the right, it looks like you have about 1.5 boats for...

    06/02 - 06/04 - Lankford Bay Marina, Eastern Shore

I'm trying to figure out what that sound was at the beginning of your last post Tom...was that a Howard Dean screech or an East Coast cowboy? Whatever it was was justified - 31 boats is a great gathering! Let me know if you all end up doing an early rendezvous, also...might buzz down for a bit.

    Ches Bay CBGT: Bahamas-Bound Interest/2007?

Count us in, at least on the discussions for the 07 trip. We want to do it at some point for sure, but whether or not I could get enough time off to make the trip worthwhile in March/April is questionable. July of '06, eh? Will have to give that some thought!!

    Anchor and compass question

Interesting thoughts on both the anchor and compass. I have 200' of chain and 140' of line for my rode - overkill, probably, but it all fits in the locker, and the trim seems just fine. I have the Raymarine C-80 and decided not to go with a mounted traditional compass for the same reasons...

For those thinking about cruising in the area before or after our spectacular gathering, you may be interested in some advanced reading. Here are a couple of web sites to whet your appetite! The Chesapeake Bay Gateways (National Park Service sponsored) has some nice info on the Bay, its...

    Windows

Second what Levity said. Before I bought our boat I was a little concerned about how hot it would get inside, but it just hasn't been an issue. I'd try it for a while before messing with the windows - doubt if you'll feel the need.

Joe, putting in at Cutter would save you about an hour or more in drive time for sure. If you trailer all the way to Lankford, the eastern route would probably actually be shorter than running down to the Chesapeake Bay Bridge, and you'd avoid the Baltimore Beltway. The route toward Philly you...

    Burglar Alarm

I agree on the price - not cheap! The Snap Alarm system was cheaper, at $199, but I don't know if that would do the trick or not...looks like you can add a door switch for another $20. They post the installation manual for the snap system on-line, and it looked pretty straight forward. But...

    Burglar Alarm

Silvertip looks great, but they seem to allow installation only through their dealer network, which isn't very widespread. For a similar option, check out VoiceAlarm, http://www.voicealarm.com/index.html They have a similar GPS tracking system, which can be programmed to notify you by phone if...

    beaching a c dory 22

Beaching the boat the way I suggested wouldn't be a good idea in any kind of surf! Tidal surge here in the Bay isn't bad, however, and as Otter notes, you only to have to worry if you're going to leave the boat for a while. Amen to remembering to cut the engine before raising! I did notice...

    beaching a c dory 22

Hey Tom - I just nose her in with some headway, then cut the engine and raise it just before she runs up on the beach. On my other boats, I used to pull the anchor ashore and jam it into the beach, but that's no fun with an all chain rode. A line from the front cleat works fine for me if I'm...

    Thank you C-Brats

Congratulations! I'll confess I'm a little jealous - I've got the urge to get out there myself, but my boat's over at Cutter for service right now, so I'll just have to wait another week or so. Do you know about the June 2-4 C-Dory gathering at Lankford Bay on the Eastern Shore? If not, you...

Hey Charlie - I go cross-eyed after looking at spreadsheets for too long, but I think we have two people who signed up on the events page who are not on the spreadsheet, and one who's on the spreadsheet but is not on the event page: On the event sign-up page, but not on spreadsheet: Al - Sea...

Hot dog! The red and white dogs will be there - glad you all can make it! Things look like they're shaping up. We have a committee meeting this weekend, and will be able to report on other details soon. Lokks like we have 26 boats so far, so we need a few more to break a record...any other...

    Spindocelectronics online

You probably already do this, but I'd call a couple of these outfits with your list of equipment and ask for a quote before ordering. Usually they'll do better than the catalog or on-line price, especially if you need a package or are ordering more than just one or two items. I've had...
