    tying up to dock

Here's one thing not to do when tying up. Do not tie to any object that is not rounded or smooth. I tied to a dock with only one cleat near the boats forward spring cleat so tied the stern line to a piece of 1/2 inch thick galvanized flat bar attached to the dock. Within a few hours wave action...

    Uh Oh!

Okay, I'll wade in here with a dime's worth of 2 cent comments. When I fear for our economy it isn't fear of the usual cyclical recesion/ boom occilation we've seen many times before. I fear the government, both houses of congress and the executive branch, have spent us into a national debt that...

Which is better: 22' cruiser or 25' cruiser?

Spending time with dogs have been a fine addition to my time on the planet. My Newfie's been gone for 3 years but his impact on his human companions remains. He was a gentleman and a beast. When the border collie and I go hiking the big dog's absence is still noted. Hunting as part of a pack...

    Honda / Racor filter interchange?

Allow me to shift the discussion a bit. Is it within CG or ABYC standards to mount a bowl type water seperator-fuel filter within the confines of the hull of an outboard boat? Should the water seperator- fuel filter be placed in the outboard well where leaks or spills will not accumulate within...

Which is better: 22' cruiser or 25' cruiser?

Allow me to continue the theme. When its blowing 20 knots and there is a nasty chop I wish I had the 25, but when I fuel up I'm glad I've got the 22. When there are guests aboard I wish I had an enclosed head (so do the guests) but when the porta potti breaks, I'm glad I have the 22. When I'm...

    Endless Breeze Fan?

The O2Cool fan came with an ac adapter. I cut the line after the transformer and spliced on a 12V DC male plug. So far nothing has blown up or burned out so we consider the alteration a success. This saves the necessity of carrying batteries for the fan. Mike "Levity"

    Endless Breeze Fan?

The O2Cool fan moves alot of air, creates an accepable level of white noise, and draws little power. It is one of the best tools on the boat. Mike "Levity"

    Forward-facing seat project

Harry2000, The change from a fixed aft facing seat to a movable forward and aft facing seat is a managable project for anyone with moderate do-it-yrselfer skills. There are some photos in my album. Detailing the process via a posting would be tedious but I would be happy to discuss the matter...

    C-dory help in purchasing.

"Levity" was purchased from Cutter Marine in Essex MD. Their reasons in 2003 for not rigging twins were: additional cost, additional weight, additional mantainance and the universal availability of tow services on Chesapeake bay. Mike "Levity"

Night time/low visibility navigation light requirements

Here's one for the maritime legal scholars. The scenario is; after sunset , not anchored, engine not running and due to no wind and slack tide not making way; essentially adrift but not drifting. Is the condition of the vessel "under way but not under command"? The definition for a vessel not...

Range of C-Dory at Hull Speed

The performance log shown on the C-Dory web site does not conain data for speeds below 8.5 MPH. Theoretical hull speed for the 22 is close to 6.1 mph. It seems logical to my untrained, non engineer mind that the fuel burn at the low RPMS needed to attain hull speed must provide for greater...
