Forward-facing seat project

On an older boat that does not have the new option, how hard it is to convert to a forward-facing passenger seat on the port side? Are there any pix or instructions on this project?

Better than that. Check out the "Cabin, Interior" forum under the Library. The pictures start with this one and there are a bunch of them. I'm sure the discussion just above the pictures talk about it too.

The change from a fixed aft facing seat to a movable forward and aft facing seat is a managable project for anyone with moderate do-it-yrselfer skills. There are some photos in my album. Detailing the process via a posting would be tedious but I would be happy to discuss the matter.

Hi Phil, Your table/seat project looks good. I have questions about your kicker mounts pictured on your site. Why did you go to the trouble to move the swim platform to the other side? I'm interested in mounting a kicker, mostly for trolling I suppose (although as a long-time sailor of trailerable boats, the idea of backup propulsion is always there.) Did I see a post where someone (Cbrat?) got a tie-bar from Cabelas that linked the steerage of both motors together? Throttle and gears might be a problem on a simple set-up for anything less than open water steerage. Has anyone thought about putting a "vertical board" on the back of the swim step to serve as a kicker mount? It is far back in terms of reach, etc., but an extended tiller-arm might take care of some of those problems.

I relocated the swim step to balance the boat. Usually it's just me and the retrievers and they won't stay on the port side! Some brats have their batteries to port to compensate. I have the Cabelas tie bar and the set up works ok but as you say there are no throttle controls. :cry
