    Fit in my garage

You back in Bellingham, or still down in Portland ? The height is correct from the prior posting. I cut and installed a swing away tongue hinge, I could measure it again tomorrow. But recalling 25' seems to be in my mind.

    Balsa Core Delamination

This thread is getting a lot of feedback, and many boat owners are concerned. The truth is a boat sits in a wet enviroment. I have dismounted many, many outboard motors. Having seen what I have seen regarding sealing around the mounting bolts, I would NEVER allow a dealer to mount my motor. The...

    Repairs and upgrades for Hammerhead

ClayHubler, Sorry to see what you are experiencing. I have done the rebuild you are experiencing I think five times. In the end you will have personal satisfaction that the boat was rebuilt better than the factory. It is very sad that the factories have a out of sight - out of mind attitude. The...

    Fuel tank vents

No 360 degree circle loops, once you have filled the lower half with water or fuel the air in the tank will NOT vent. Same for laying the vent line on top of the tank then sloping back up to the vent fitting on the top of the tank.

    Fuel tank vents

You should definitely have a "high loop", where the top of the loop is higher than the vent outlet itself. Water has a hard time flowing uphill, unless it has the help of water or air pressure. Most of the installations I has seen are very poor, even with low loops that hold liquid so there is...

Location of Electric over Hydraulic Actuator

They are working within a defined "box", surely by directions from engineers, insurers, and the legal people ! Sad day as usual, that reasonable minds can not prevail.

    Electric Brakes

Well that blog should get the old topic going well. Offering comments without personally experiencing an all electric brake system used in fresh and salt water launching situations should be used cautiously. Opinions are just that. Ultimately, it is personal preference based on personal...

USA to Canada via the Straight of Juan de Fuca

Probably been about 10 years, several boats were out in the middle fishing Hein Bank when a nasty Westerly blew in not forcasted. Everyone headed for shore but one boat was swamped by the large waves, and one life was lost. Not to be fooled with unless you have a big water boat, or are very...

USA to Canada via the Straight of Juan de Fuca

Wood, The border doors have been closed since the " corona virus " began. You can not fish in there countries waters without the proper licenses. Be careful, that can be big water out there in 16' .

    Transom HP limits

Hopefully the Administration can memorialize this conversation thread, as this topic has come up numerous times. And some responses have been rather pesky when the repower choice has exceeded the sticker on the dash. Can the Administration save this info somewhere so it is easily accessed ...

    Replacement Fuel tank Availability

The molds were thrown in the trash ( an error ) when a conglomerate purchased Moeller a few months ago. The factory is now having aluminum tanks made for them by Moeller, as a replacement for the now gone plastic tanks.

Trip between Deception Pass Area to John Wayne Marina

Travel both ways EARLY in the morning for the flattest water conditions. The area between Smith Island and Deception Pass is generally not very nice when the winds pick up in the afternoon. Personally, I would want to be traveling on the water by 5 am.

    Sealing around handrails above pilothouse

Local Boy has the right idea, chamfer the hole to create a "o-ring". Don't turn the fastener, tighten the nut.

    Core rot and replacement

Eric, Looks to me that you are asking about using a insulation board used in house construction called " pink board " ? The " foam " boards that people would be refering to when used in boat construction are not the same, and cost more than 10X what "pink board" sells for. "Pink board" has a...

Secure truck and trailer parking near the san juans.

Skyline Marina ( at the end of Hwy 20 ) has a sling launch and a very large gravel parking lot for truck/trailer parking. This is in a residential area, crime is not really an issue. And literally, once you exit the the marina within 15 minutes your into the Islands.

    Leak or condensation?

Careful with the 5200, very difficult to cut loose in the future. Life Seal can be cut with a knife blade, but it will not pull loose between the two surfaces. It has polyurethane in it. Unlike hardware silicone.

    Leak or condensation?

So the leak is on the overhead portion of the cuddy roof, the only penetration is the bomar hatch. Just because it looks like it is sealed, does not reveal the truth. My hatch had sealant between the hatch flange and the cutout surface. Sealant remained on the fiberglass surface, but nothing was...

    Leak or condensation?

I have owned many different brand of boats with leaky rivets, including the C-dory. Do not create a bathtub within the rubrail , by sealing the bottom edge of the rubrail. Seal the top line all the way around the hull. I even drill like 1/8th holes under the vinyl insert edge ( thru the aluminum...
