Bennett Bolt Trim Tabs on a 16 Angler

Hi All, I'm installing a set of Bolt 12x9's soon, and am wondering if there is some advice on mounting position, or other topics. I have a crowded transom to deal with and am most interested in experience with minimum distance from edge. Thanks!

    Transom Drilling

Thanks for the detailed response folks! Gonna get started this weekend with all of the hole patching....if I don't fish instead  Under separate heading I'll ask for mounting recommendation on Bennett bolt tabs.

    Transom Drilling

Ok...I like the advice. A few clarifications. What do you like as a bedding material? Have you ever come across self tapping bronze screws? Would stainless be sufficient? Do you have a specific recommendation for the filling material; thickened epoxy I'm assuming? I have a lot of...

    Transom Drilling

Hello All, I've read many threads about penetrating the transom of the boat. I am installing trim tabs on my boat, and a panther kicker mount to clear the tabs (currently directly on the transom). So I have two types of holes; thru-holes for the kicker mount, and screws to attach the tabs...

    Windshield wipers

Thanks Wolf, They can be found online at Napa part 601233. Seems like you have to go pick them up. So I'll report back over weekend.

    16 Angler Outboard Bracket

Noticed the Sam in reverse on my 98'...embarrassing at the ramp! Yeah I am playing with the hull extender bracket for those reasons. Read a cool thread where one of our guys added 2' to his and sea wolf chimed in about the brackets. Look really neat.

    16 Angler Outboard Bracket

Thanks Cap'n, checked your boat...nice. Did the skegs improve performance? Regarding the bracket, they provide additional flotation as a key benefit.

    16 Angler Outboard Bracket

Evening folks, Has anyone seen or heard of an Armstrong type outboard bracket on a 16'? I've had my 16 angler for a couple weeks, love it, and love all the opportunities for modifications. My goal is to retake the 2' of motor well for more practical use; bait well, fish hold, storage, or just...

    Live Bait Well Design

As a stopgap I installed a Rule 500 transom pump and mounted a bottles 50# vault on the swim step. The gamma vault has about 13 ga. Capacity. Positives are the entire system was only $150, and it will keep 12-20 Mack alive for the day depending on size, which is plenty. Downside it adds 100#...

    Live Bait Well Design

Bob, Great advice on the over drill technique. I like the finess of using the bottom layer of glass as a dam for the epoxy fill. It was also great advice not to position the thru-hull at the sump for potential cavitation. I understand the idea of a transom mount external pump, but recall a main...

    Live Bait Well Design

J, thanks for the info. Is a hull mount superior to a transom mount? Seems preferable, and in my 16 angler it's as easy. How did you seal/reinforce the hole, if at all? Yeah, a bucket is simple for wash down. I was thinking of just installing an added fitting and bypass for wash down. I...

    Live Bait Well Design

Hello Brats, I'm new to the board and to the boat.... I've searched fairly extensively for some time now, and thought I'd put my project out there. As I reach and install the final solution I'll organize and keep a file for future folks who have a need for a live bait well. My boat is an...

    Ballast?

Hello Folks, I am the proud new owner of a 16' angler. I am new to the forum and will provide lots of entertainment with silly questions. Love my boat. I will be boating in Tahoe this weekend and they do inspections. There is a plug on the vertical surface of the step between the cockpit...
