16 Angler Outboard Bracket

Evening folks, Has anyone seen or heard of an Armstrong type outboard bracket on a 16'?

I've had my 16 angler for a couple weeks, love it, and love all the opportunities for modifications.

My goal is to retake the 2' of motor well for more practical use; bait well, fish hold, storage, or just an additional 2' of cockpit.

My thought is the bracket would fill in the transom and add a usable platform aft, while adding flotation. I could then add saddle tanks, and move the batteries forward.

I may just retain all the space for fishing, then place the bait well somewhere forward, on the bracket, or Maybe built in to a starboard bench seat.

Feedback greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

When I bought my 16' C-Dory I looked through all of the C-Brat albums to see what others had done. As an old aircraft mechanic, I tend to think in terms of weight and balance. and hanging an OB out past the transom would effectively increase it's projected weight and effect your overall balance.

I have a lot of my extra "Stuff" in an 80qt. ice chest that can double as a fish box, or step and I can move it around to change my balance as needed.

If you do a lot of "Solo" fishing, you may consider mounting your kicker motor on the port side opposite the helm.

Thanks Cap'n, checked your boat...nice. Did the skegs improve performance?

Regarding the bracket, they provide additional flotation as a key benefit.

Hooks,

My C-Dory is a flat bottom 1988 and it had no directional control
at all in reverse. :smilep
It was like trying to back an inflatable. :sad

The skegs not only help with the backing, if I throw her into a sharp
high speed turn, there is no skidding, she just banks like an airplane. :thup

PS. I didn't realize your OB mount was one of the "Hull Extender" type. I've seen pictures of those that were also a fuel tank. A guy can really get creative if he has the tools and check book to work with. :wink

Noticed the Sam in reverse on my 98'...embarrassing at the ramp!

Yeah I am playing with the hull extender bracket for those reasons. Read a cool thread where one of our guys added 2' to his and sea wolf chimed in about the brackets. Look really neat.
