    Moving to Electrics...

Here is the pic.... Very good idea! I'll have to make something like that. One thing to note. Next time you are replacing the cable on the Scotty's, use Canon cable :) Their cable seems to be a much better quality cable. That story is why I used to carry 3 extra balls, crimping pliers...

    New Laptop

If you are buying a new laptop that has Vista installed, all you need is a USB TV Tuner. There are several on the market. With the TV tuner attached to the TV Antenna you get over the air TV via the Media Center portion of Vista. It is pretty slick. I have my desktop setup with a TV Tuner card...

    Moving to Electrics...

Right now there is another discussion on Gamefishin.com about the pros and cons of each brand of down rigger. Personally I think it is like choosing between a Ford, Chev, or Dodge truck. They all have their advantages and weaknesses. For me, I prefer the way the Scotty Electric works over the...

    Bottom Fishing

Just a quick note about Roger's Copper Pipe with Lead. From what I have read, the main reason it is so effective for Saltwater fish is that it is effectively a little battery and that is what attracts the fish and not just its action in the water. Don't knock the pipe jig until you try it. They...

    Lawless in Seattle

I'm a 4th generation "Seattleite". 10-15 years ago you would never have seen a panhandler on the streets. Now it is a regular occurance. Usually they aren't a problem. But every now and then you come across one that is belligerent or aggressive. They are the ones that I try to avoid. Now that I...

    Electrical Problems Redux

Pat, As stated above, take the batteries in for a load test (Napa in North Bend or Model Garage in Fall City should be able to do this). My guess is that when you direct shorted them one of the cells died on you. Also, as Boris said, don't just wire them up in parallel. They will discharge...

    27LC in PDX

Sea Cowboy is the Extra Long cabin 27 (As is Haileighs Comet). My boat is the Long Cabin. I don't have the stand-up head in mine. My boat weighs about 6500 lbs and I tow it with a '93 F250 Diesel 4x4. I really wish I had gotten a 1 ton truck with a turbo instead. Other than that is tows just...

    08/07 - 08/17 - Neah Bay Gathering

Warren, The showers at Neah are pretty decent. Parking for Truck and Trailer is basically across the street and down a half block. As for a grocery store... I think it is a few blocks away. Neah is not that big a place!

    08/07 - 08/17 - Neah Bay Gathering

I'm going to have to hold off on making reservations at this point. I really would like to be there for the full week like Roger does, but I don't even know if the boat will be ready. So... It'll be wait and see for me. I'll take the chance that I can't get a spot if I decide to go last minute...

Wiring Supplies - Marine vs. Automotive

Napa has a full marine catalog that you can get on request. I actually picked one up for finding parts for my old 27'. Most of the items in that catalog can be gotten within a few days if they don't have them at their distributor. After having to rewire my sled's lights and dashboard due to...

    Racor filter and fuel color

The State Patrol in Washington tried giving a friend of mine a ticket for his diesel being red. But just before testing it he pulled out a can of Transmission fluid and dumped it in his tank. Many people use Type F transmission fluid in their trucks.

SEA LICE, SALMON - CANADA (BRITISH COLUMBIA)

Wow!!! Nice Dory Dave! You done good! :beer :beer :beer I don't think I have ever changed anyones ideas on here either. But it is still a fun place to hang and there are conversations here that are very interesting. Please stick around a while. Maybe start up a thread on your build and your...

SEA LICE, SALMON - CANADA (BRITISH COLUMBIA)

You are of course correct :) Most of those "Pellets" are likely Krill. And from what I have been reading the Krill populations have been plumeting the last few years. It would seem that if they become extinct then so will just about every other species in the oceans. My point about using...

SEA LICE, SALMON - CANADA (BRITISH COLUMBIA)

I agree Tom. Fish farms are a necessary evil, just poorly thought out IMHO. Typically they put the pens in bays and coves that have little to no water movement so that they don't get broken and are easier to manage. Unfortunately (as anyone with an aquarium can attest) if you don't have water...

    EQ Marine and C-Dory

Hmm... Yesterday the EQ site said that they weren't dealers. Today it says Hmmm... Sounds like really poor communication is the real problem here. <shrug>

why I haven't been on line for awhile.

Dave, Glad you're ok! Up my way we didn't get as much water as you guys did. The Raging went from it's normal 75 cfs to 2000 cfs (well within its banks). This is pretty typical for this river so nothing to worry about. Had it gone up to 3500 cfs I might have to start looking for more sand bags...

Salmon fishing in the salt - technique and methds

I bet the spreader would be pretty easy to make. Just bend up some Music Wire with loops on each end. Set 6 of them together using an eye bolt and nut. Attach the eye bolt to a heavy duty swivel and you have your spreader. Attach some mylar strips to the ends of the spreaders and you have what...

Salmon fishing in the salt - technique and methds

I've never used one. I've seen shows on TV from the Great Lakes where they were using them for Chinook and they seemed to work. It would put a lot of drag on the line I would think. And you would likely get multiple drive byes with no hookups as the fish hit your teasers instead of the actual...

    web site for river levels.

I use that site all the time to watch the water level of the Raging when we have weather like this. It allows me a little peace of mind while I work being able to check to see that the water level hasn't gotten high enough to flood. The heavy rains we had last year were as close as I want to...
