    C-Dory in Rough Seas

I wish I could have gotten the video of 4 larger boats following my 22 from Culross Passage to Passage Canal. As we got further west the seas dropped from 4-5 to 2-3 and they all passed me. I don't think it was the smooth ride but the direction I was going. The seas would be on the starboard...

    Fuel tank capacity????

Boris, When I first filled my 25 after it was shipped we put in almost 110 gallons. The label on the tank says 107 gallons so I would have to say that was pretty close to being true. The most I have put in after a trip is 79 gallons so I use for planning purposes 100 gallons.

    I need some input please...

Les, I was one of the first that put it into both the V-berth and cabin. I used about 3.5 gallons but didn't put it on as thick as Jay probably did. The reduction in condensation with my application was 90% or greater from before. The difference was so distinct that the before was with two...

    New Prop - Cavitation

You can look at the ventilation plate on the motor in relation to the bottom of the hull to see what your motor height is relative to the bottom. If you trim the motor such that the ventilation plate is in a parallel plane to the bottom of the boat you can eyeball it to see if the motor is above...

    New Prop - Cavitation

It might take a few hours for the erosion to show up in the case of cavitation.

Does the GPS module in the IPad work at 550 mph? The IPhone doesn't seem to.

Recommendations for a day trip from Anchorage

The weather is looking pretty stinky for Saturday. Resurrection Bay is calling for 3 foot seas and Prince William Sound is calling for 4 feet. It is better than 50/50 it will be raining. For my bets I would go to Seward either by rail or car. If the weather were better I would say we could...

    economical new anchor/roller combo?

14# is plenty for a 22. I think the 22# might have problems hitting the bow from most rollers used on a 22. The 22# is pretty close on my 25 to hitting.

    Modern-Day Jonah?

It's a well known photoshop job. Whales can't digest fiberglass, Goretex, and plastic that well.

    Teleflex Seastar Hydr. Steering

Jack, I have a lot of play in the middle of my Seastar system. I have replaced seals on both sides and bled the system. My impression it's in the helm pump assembly. It's five years old and may need to be replaced. I have the same issue on a 28 ft Jetcraft in Ninilchik with twin Honda 150's...

    Transducer Signal Loss

My experience with the Raymarine C-80 DSM30 is similar. The transducer is about 1/2 below the hull. Losing contact with the bottom is more a function of depth than speed. In water 100 ft or more I lose contact generally above 20 knots. Yesterday I recorded a depth of 1120 feet while at 3...

    Mascoat Delta-T thermal insulation coating...

Les, As one of the first C-Brats to use the Mascoat product, you have made an excellent decision. After 4 years I finally painted it so it would be easier to clean. Why I waited 4 years I don't know. When I sold my 22 it looked like a new boat on the inside.

Prop Size for 22 foot Angler with 115 Yamaha 4 stroke

38 is fast for a 22. How was the stability? My 25 becomes a little "squirrelly" above 32. The 22 Cruiser I had was the same above 30. I've had the 25 up to 35 knots and that was way fast.

    Permatrim

Marc, Thanks for the link. Now I understand. I am not sure of the transom wedge would be any better or worse than a Permatrim. Somebody really needs to do some detailed testing of both to see if a wedge increasing the angle of the ventilation plate in the water coupled with a propeller...

Marc, Do you have a picture of what a stern wedge looks like?

    Anyone here own 3 C-Dorys?

Charlie, 2 TC's would qualify for flotilla or possibly fleet status if you counted hulls. That would make you a Commodore.

Blue Sea Systems: Add a Battery - Dual Circuit System

I've used them on two boats and they seem to work well. The only downside is you can't just shut off one battery or battery bank. They are all on or all off. If you wanted to work on the house distribution bus, you would have to shut everything off. I am pretty sure that would shut your...

Repowering Boat, not a C-dory, but respect your knowledge :)

Warren, I only rated what I have direct experience with. If there were a way for us to collectively agree on a rating scale we could run a master list of ratings. I have looked under the cover of some Suzukis and they seem to be well designed, I just don't have any experience with them, the...
