    My Last Boat VI

Congrats on choosing a Venture 26. I really look forward to seeing how the build comes out. As a fellow 26 owner with twin 90 two strokes, there isn't a whole lot about the boat I would change. I MIGHT look at getting Yamahas or Suzukis or Hondas depending on where I lived, but I've been very...

    Apparent good deal on Ebay

Be HIGHLY suspect of this boat. This boat was being sold from California originally. The original bidder failed, I was the second highest bidder so eBay got back in touch. I emailed the seller and a short while later received a message back from somebody with a very odd email address (typical...

    External Wood

Alexseal and Internatioanl are both popular alternatives to Awlgrip and Imron. Alexseal in particular has really taken off over the past several years. This stuff gets debated quite a bit. One of the best threads I ever found was here...

Marinaut with square rear window... looks good!

That makes sense... thanks for the update Rich. I do love the fact that they are using "safer" materials in the core compared to Balsa. That is a huge selling point in their favor in my opinion. Isn't the hull all Nidacore?

Marinaut with square rear window... looks good!

The only other thing I noticed that was a bit odd is how the cabin door doesn't match the gelcoat on the rest of the boat. Is that how it is on all of them or?

Marinaut with square rear window... looks good!

I agree... totally a matter of personal taste. Me personally, I find the round window to be a bit too cutesy. I think the square window adds continuity to the lines of the boat and makes it feel a bit more brawny. That being said, I think it is absolutely fantastic that Marinaut offers customers...

IMG Tags for embedding photos don't work?

Any idea what is going on? Everything looks fine to me. EDIT: Nevermind, it appears that the IMG tag only supports items with file extensions used for images. I would delete this post, but it doesn't appear that I can.

Marinaut with square rear window... looks good!

I really like the look of the new Marinaut with the square rear window vs. the round. It seems a bit less arbitrary. Hadn't seen these shared here so thought I would post them.

    Slips/Moorage in Portland Oregon

I've been scoping out most of these over the weekend. Things definitely get more reasonable in price the further you move up or down river. At this juncture we are looking at stuff a bit further West.... Rocky Point and McCuddys Landing. I thought about Tomahawk Island, but can't get ahold of...

    Slips/Moorage in Portland Oregon

We are going to be moving the boat to a permanent moorage in Portland and I am starting to look at slips/moorage. Any recommendations/suggestions and any I should absolutely stay away from?

    questions about anchor rode/thimbles

Did you all have to replace the bow roller for that or was there enough clearance from the hull with the standard roller?

    Its a Lewmar V700.

    questions about anchor rode/thimbles

As always, I appreciate all of the great advice and feedback. Sounds like a bowline with some 1/4 is a cheaper/easier solution. Thanks! That leads me to my second question. Current anchor is a 10kg/22lb Bruce knock-off. Was leaning towards a Manson Supreme, but the 25lb Manson seems...

    questions about anchor rode/thimbles

So I am getting ready to pull the trigger and order up new grand tackle from Defender, unless you folks can steer me to a cheaper/better vendor. I'm going with 250 feet of 1/2 8 plait and 50 of 1/4 G4 HT chain. I'll be doing a chain to rope splice. My question is on the other end of the rope...

Anyone tried Poli Glow on the stripes?

OK Sunbeam... that image you posted of Sea Angel. Is that using Poli-Glo, a vinly wrap, or just wax/buff?

    Replacement Lazarette Covers (Again)

My hatches weren't quite the same color either, but close and look pretty good. I'm sure the years of gelcoat oxidation don't help any, lol!

    Organizing Dock Lines

I used some of those hangers on my boat as well with some shock cord. Works really well at keeping things neat and organized. Thanks for the idea on the shock cord!

    exposed interior rivets

I ended up simply mixing up some thickened epoxy (colloidal silica only) and covering up all of the exposed rivets. That mixture is almost a cloudy opaque color and blends into the splatter gelcoat pretty well.

    Replacement Lazarette Covers (Again)

Just as an FYI, the IMTRA hatches worked great and it was an easy project. I would post some pics, but with as many as there are out there, really no point. Bone dry even after pressure washing the boat. Thank again for everybody's help along the way.
