    Fuel Flow Meters

I have a 5gph FloScan sitting in a box on my desk right now. Just been unable to force myself to drill a 3-1/8" hole in the dash of my 16 Cruiser to mount the critter. Installation appears very straight forward, the only things to watch are the sensor has to be mounted plumb and below the...

    Flat Bottom Skiff vs. C-Dory

The 16 foot C-Dories are competent boats in all conditions, they ride like corks in rough weather and with the drop curtain down in back are snug and dry even in heavy rain. These are actually 15'11" long and have positive foam floatation in the event something really, really bad happens...

    Flat Bottom Skiff vs. C-Dory

Your OKie lakes and rivers should pose no problem at all for a C-Dory hull. We run ours all the time on inland lakes and rivers and can usually run full throttle. When we get out on Lake Erie, though, we have to throttle back significantly. But I don't see any Great Lakes near Oklahoma. -- Chuck

    hull position on trailer

You sure don't want 10% to 15% of the trailer's weight on the tongue, not with a boat trailer with the center of gravity way aft. 5% to 7% is the general rule for boat trailers. Single axle camper needs the 10%-15% to avoid fishtailing. -- Chuck

    Motor package for 22 Crusier??

Terry -- To a search, this is a a very common topic. I'm a single engine guy for several reasons and if I got the 22 Cruiser I'd remain one. Here's what I don't like about twins. 1. Unless they're in perfect sync the drone will drive you nuts. 2. Twins have twice the potential for failure...

    Lenco Trim Tabs

Predicted Log! There's a voice from the past! Loran-C killed Predicted Log competition and GPS kicked over the tombstone [;)]. I remember the guys hauling their cabin cruisers and polishing the bottom and propellers like they were ** Gasp! ** sailboat racers. Our club in Cleveland had two or...

    FUEL ECONOMY

This Flowscan system will replace your two tachs and give you lots of additional information: http://www.floscan.com/ModelSelection/twinscan.html They fit in standard tach hole and include a sync function for the twins. Several scales also available. -- Chuck

    Transducer Installation Questions and Answers

All my boats except the C-Dory have had thru hull speed and depth. Balsa core takes an extra day to install unless you shoot thru the bottom layer of fibreglass. I have a transom mounted sounder on this boat. -- Chuck

Radome or 24” Open Array Antenna

With an antenna height only a few feet off the water the horizon is well within the range of even a minutely powered radar, so "range" won't be better or worse with either antenna. Nor will more power help ya either with this very limited line of sight. Yeah, you can blast out those watts...

    Prospective boater

Don't expect any discounts on a C-Dory, the factory is running at capacity and dealers wait several months for delivery of fresh-ordered boats. The better dealers order boats on speculation so they have a "stock" or at least they can tell you what they have in the pipeline. For this reason the...

    Installing a Swim Step

Call the factory! They've got a spec sheet on it. May be a pencil drawing, but they'll be happy to help. They FAXed me the data needed for my electric wipers. -- Chuck

Transom mounted transducer on Port Side?

I understand the preference for the transducer to be on the starboard side to reduce propeller induced bubbles (assuming RH rotation) but cosmetically I'd prefer to put the transducer under the swim step. Anyone done this? Don't want a zillion holes back there that have to be filled. -- Chuck

    16 Cruiser VHF Radio mounting?

I'd like to move the VHF-FM radio on our 16 Cruiser from her current position on top of the micro-dash to free up that space for a fishfinder and eventually a chart plotter. Where do you other 16 Cruiser folks mount your's? Link to a photo would be nice. No way to mount it overhead I can...

    C-Dory Comps

Clive -- I had sailboats for darn near 40 years before selling the last one, a San Juan 28, and buying a C-Dory 16 Cruiser. Our '03 16 Cruiser had all the options on it from the factory (east of the Mississipi we pretty much get them fully setup) other than electric wipers which I added after...

    re props on 19ft.

You're a candidate for those composite propellers which you can set +\- 2" of pitch. Someone will recall the name, but I think there 4" of pitch to play with. You can get a 14" pitch and set it in inch increments from 12" to 14". Problem is you need two! -- Chuck

    re props on 19ft.

George -- Your numbers are confusing the heck out of me! You're trying to use a two blade propeller? I was unaware Honda had any. My Honda 50 came with a 03x11.1x13 (blades x diameter x pitch) wheel on it. That propeller will pull 6000 rpm with two of us aboard and full tanks and not much...

    Shallow water depth sounder?

Charlie -- I'm unlikely to get one of the Garmin chartplotters because their chart coverage is nil on the Ohio River and it takes way too many chips for the Great Lakes. I'm hoping Raymarine comes up with a way to integrate depth into their 435i plotter. This uses CF cards and I only need...
