    New C-Brat

I have a 200 hp Honda on my 26' ProAngler which is very similar to the 25'. My motor is on a bracket. I feel that the 200 is over powering and a 150 would do the job. THe 200 is not a detriment but maybe a bit of an overkill. It was not my choice. Was on the boat when I purchased it. My...

    Off to the arctic

And me being the one that questioned the use of sledge, I will stand corrected one way or another when the graded paper arrives. Isn't this site interesting??? Have a great trip Bill & El. Jack in Alaska

    Rough Ride?

Great and accurate comments on the 22' CD. I had one for 26 yrs. and loved it. Son has it now. My 26' CD is more seaworthy, runs faster in rough seas but gets 1/2 the mileage. Using your head when running the throttle is the answer. CD's are a tough well built boat.

Picked up an old 22 angler and need a new main

There are other brands of outboards than Suz or Yama's. Have you looked at performance specs on any others?? My original classic 1983 started life with 115 Johnson 2 stroke and now has 90 hp Honda 4 stroke. THe Honda pushes the boat much easier with 1/3 the fuel usage.

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

Scraped and sanded and repainted my @#$%&! bottom paint. Looks better but still not needed as it lives on the trailer. All one color and the scrapes covered up.

    1988 26 ft. C Dory Sportfisher

As you can see from my signature I have had a 22' Angler Classic and now a 26' ProAngler. The 22' got twice the fuel mileage (5 mpg vs 2.6 mpg), 22' speed limited to 17 mph in any kind of rough seas, the 26' cruises easily at 25 mph, 22' fishing deck 1/3 the size of the 26', cabin width the...

    C-22 with 140 HP

I purchased a new 1983 C-Dory in 1983. Drove to Kent, Wash. to pick it up. Purchased without an engine as i had a relatively new 115 HP Johnson in my garage in Alaska. The boat had a capacity plaque which specified 75 HP max. At the time Mark Toland told me that 115 hp was too much and do...

Porta Potti Replacement on the CD-22

I have used a 6 gallon white bucket with double plastic bag liners for years at work in the Prudhoe Bay oilfield. It works great. It even had a toilet seat attached. I applied the same idea to one in my boat for no.2 only. The boat model has a lid so it can be used to sit on while fishing...

    Opinions please

The IR measured bearing temps will be 10F over the ambient. The sunny side will be 10-12F hotter than the shady side. Any bearing temp over 115F would worry me. Something is wrong and a problem long term.

2015 SE Alaska Cruise out of Skagway

Jay.... I also envy you being in Sitka. If I could do a re-do of my retirement I would have sold out in 2000 in S.Central and moved to Sitka. I was through there in 1965 and twice more recently all on the ferry. A great place to live in my estimation. Be safe. Jack

    Loose cabin door hinges

Got to the door hinge bolting thing today. I through bolted the one single hole on the hinge with a no. 6 bolt with a friction nut and washer. THe other two holes in the hinge I took out the screws and did the toothpick trick. It is all nice and tight now.

    Brass T-Drain Plug

Joe, When looking closely at your picture of the screw-in plug there appears some word on it that looks a lot like "C_H_I_N_A stamped into the metal disk. I don't know about you but that would make me nervous. I also had one jerked out on my 22' CD when a large branch went under the boat and...

    Steering sticks/stiff at speed

I totally agree on the hydraulic system over the old cable one. After 25 yrs on my 1983 CD I switched to hydraulic. It made a tremendous improvement in the handling. Did it myself for about $600. When removing the cable just cut it up with a sawzall to help getting it out easier.

    C-Dory Sightings

Last Sat. on a trip from Ninilchik to Anchorage we met 7 C-Dorys in the 200 miles. The last one being a new looking 25-5 TomCat. Next day we saw another going through Anchorage Lots of them on the road up here.

    Loose cabin door hinges

I just noticed my cabin door hinges were loose yesterday while locking up for a 5 days trip to town. I will address the problem when I return to the boat. I went to thru bolting on my previous 22' but do not know if that is a viable option on this boat.

    27 foot C-Dory

Steve, Those 27 ft as well as the original 22 ft flat bottom's were all built by the original owners, Marben Marine. THere have been 2 or 3 owners since then as well as a fire that almost wiped them out. The present owners are struggling to make new models as well as the Sea Sport and I...

SO WHAT DID YOU DO WITH OR ON YOUR C-DORY TODAY??

I rebuilt my Jabsco wash down pump for the umpteenth time. The one in my boat all winter went "gunny sack" over the winter. I had two other pumps/motors and pieces in a box of tricks. I was able to come up with another working pump for this season. The 3rd pump motor in my box of tricks works...

davit/hauler/puller install into step on CD22

I mounted my davit as did Tsturm on my 1983 22' CD. I used it to pull crab pots(4' diam.) and many big halibut up to 250lbs. The step mount was never a problem and was obviously strong enough. The puller was a 12v Power Winch electric cathead. My davit could be pinned so it swung forward for...
