    Fire Extinguisher Location

Steve: My orginal mount was in front of the Captains seat (delaer installed) right leg. But it did not allow me to open the small compartment at the footrest. I moved and mounted the fire extinquiser on the instide wall in the cabin just above the door. I used a 1x4 piece of oak, stained it to...

    Boat Covers

I agree with Dr. Bob. $755 is a good price for a Sunbrella custom cover. I paid more than that 5 years ago from IBoats - and at $810 then, it was the best price that I could find. Sunbrella has held up real well - forrest green. My cover gets lots of leaves and pine needles. John Swee Pea

    Motor Support for Trailering

There is decent clearance, but I am a constant victim of Murphy's Law. I will know that there wasn't enough clearance when I pull into some area where I hit bottom - I saw a guy in a parking lot do this to his motor. I think that this wedge product is kind of a meeting a happy medium - the...

    Motor Support for Trailering

I know this topic has be covered EXTENSIVELY, but when I was trying to find that wedge like rubber motor support for trailering that was linked in one of the posts on "Trailering Motors, Up or Down", I could not find the post. (computerly challenged) A simple google search got me to the...

    New Front Trailer Hitch

I have had one on my 2004 Ford F150 since I have had the truck new. It is a direct bolt on, no cutting, drilling, or professional installation needed. I put it on in less than an hour. I got it here http://www.etrailer.com/fitguidefmr.htm John Swee Pea

Resins - A Little Off Topic

Well, I got a sample of Durabak Smooth (no rubber particles for traction) from the manufacturer. This is the way I am going to go. It is a smooth shiny finish that will completely waterproof the shower area. It comes in colors, but I think I will stick with white. I will report back when it...

    Garhauer Davit setup questions

Well, I finally got off my duff and had a bracket made for the Garhauer Davit. Indeed, mounting the foot "ball" in the motor well was not an option for me. There is not enough room to mount a backing plate and nut. I do not want to remove the gas tank to try. If you go to my Swee Pea photo...
  13. This is what the mount will look like with the foot ball attached. The plate will mount to the starboard side of the motor well, as low as possible. I have a stainless backer plate for the bracket, access in the starboard lazarette. Bracket probably overbuilt with 1/4" stainless, gussets welded for extra strength. Total cost for the bracket - $20 (not including the Garhauer mounts)

  14. This is a stainless steel bracket I had made for the Garhauer Lifting Davit. I want to mount the davit in the motorwell of my 22' Cruiser so the davit is directly over the kicker motor. Problem is gas tank is directly under where I need to mount the foot. This bracket is designed to mount on the starboard wall of the motor well area, to hold the foot.

Thanks for the responses so far. I talked with the head chemist at Andek regarding Clearcoat 44 and he was worried that the solvents in the product would adversley affect the wallboard. So that product is out. I went to Home Depot and looked at FRP (Fiberglass Reinforced Panels). This would be...

I talked to a rep from www.andek.com regarding the Clearcoat 44 product. He said that this is the product that I want for my particular application. You roll or brush it on - and he said thin - and it will create an absolutely watertight seal. It dries from the moisture in the air - go figure...

I don't know why a VAT tax. I "placed an order" to find out the cost of the items. Shipping was 77 Pounds (money, not weight) and VAT tax was 27 or 28 Pounds. I gave my address in the good ole USA. I did find this product at www.andek.com: "CLEARCOAT 44 is a single component, moisture...

I have a camper that has a hand held shower. It is a small enclosure with a cassette toilet. It has a built in shower pan/drain, but the walls are luan covered with vinyl (I think) and not waterproof. There is a shower curtain that goes around which further reduces the shower area. I wish...

Cobb Grill vs Magma Catalina or Newport Grill

I do not have a Magma, but I do have a Cobb. To echo what Jim says, they are two different systems. The Magma is a typical gas grill, with flames. The Cobb was designed to cook, bake, using heat from 6 charcoal briquettes with the top of the Cobb on, no flames. It is very versatile, with a...
