Number of people that can be safely carried on a boat = (boat length X boat width)/15 So theoretically, 6 people is allowable, but that formula assumes everyone weighs 150 lbs. You may be overloading your vessel in an unsafe manner.

IMO, I would definitely add a slide, because piloting something where most things are a stretch is unpleasant at best. Can you simply reverse the slide so the handle is on the left? In other words, mount it backwards? It shouldn't matter, unless it's part of the chair. Although a full swivel...

I prefer flush mount because when I'm fighting a fish and if I have to follow it, I don't want any obstacles in the way. That and a lot of the fish fighting is done by my kids, and they have limited height still.

A properly installed helicoil is much stronger than the base metal it is threaded into. You won't have any issues with one.
