All,

The next Seattle Boat Show will be Jan 23- Feb 01, 2015 and I'm starting to plan the gathering(s). At present, I'm hoping to do the brewery again on Friday, Jan 23rd and I'm working with Pat and the folks at the brewery to put that together. Sat. evening (1/24/15), will likely involve a dinner or get together someplace downtown. If there is interest, I can arrange for a Sat. AM cruise. We could either do a small flotilla of C-Brats to take visitors to the area out on the sound (weather permitting) OR we could arrange for one of the local cruise companies to take us out. I'm open to ideas, so let's hear yours!

C-Brats, C Dories, maybe a Lake Washington get together/ cruise? Little more protected on the lake, not much but some. The ramps will be reletively clear that time of year. Cruise up to Ivars on Lake Union for brunch, lunch, liner, or dinner.

Dont know about moorage Rick but Andrews Bay is a nice place to drop a hook. There might be some guest moorage at Fishermans terminal or some of the marinas on Lake Union, I just am not sure and dont want to give you the wrong info

Is there anyplace to moor overnight in that area?
I don't know about guest moorage on the fresh water side of things (Lake Union or Lake Washington). There may be some but it's likely very limited. On the salt water side Bell Harbor is great and should have available guest moorage then. So should Elliott Bay marina. I know at least one C-Brat couple stayed on their boat in Bell Harbor last year or the year before.

I think we tried to get last minute guest moorage at Bell Harbor last year and were told that they were full. Perhaps its early enough right now to make a reservation. I do think others come by boat and try to stay at Bell Harbor during the show.

The marina where Palisades restaurant is always has guest moorage from what the harbormaster said. It is a bit further away from where the show takes place but maybe a $20 taxi ride?

That's Elliott Bay Marina. I bet if we made some reservations now, we could have a mini C-Brats gathering at Bell Harbor Marina.

I really like the Lake Union/Lake Washington cruise idea which would include passing through the Montlake Cut, affording all to reverently pay homage to an especially fine institution of higher learning. 8)

I'm guessing we'd do a late afternoon or evening dinner at Ivar's or wherever, so I'd rather moor on the freshwater side of the locks. Fisherman's Terminal might have something.

Where is Andrew's Bay?

We plan to make the trip from Texas again and would like to join the activities.
We will not have a rental car and would be happy to contribute to a van and share in any other costs.

Find Seward Park on the map and you just found Andrews bay

It's just south of the I-90 bridge on the Seattle side.

Hey, that's our neck of the woods. Literally 3 blocks away in one of the most beautiful parks in the city. Seward Park has a great 2.2 mile loop for walking/running/biking that Caryn walks all the time. (Note, I said Caryn :wink )

Andrews Bay is the most popular anchorage on Lake Washington, especially in the summer where you can practically walk shore to shore without touching water but there are boats in the bay all year around. There are plenty of launches in the area, Stan Sayers Pits, Atlantic Street launch at Rainier Beach, and Coulon Beach in Renton.

I would be happy to pull our boat through the locks for this event, weather permitting of course.

Peter

Thanks Chuck and Marty.

Okay, since Andrews Bay is essentially 3 blocks from Peter's house, how 'bout if we--I'm just throwing this out there--how about if we all anchor in the bay, row to shore in our respective dinghys (or one may be provided for you), and then walk the short distance to Peter's house for a potluck? Hell, he and Caryn might even have enough floor space for a slumber party. :beer

Well the first event of this CBGT is confirmed. Once again we will be doing a dinner at the Snoqualmie Brewery and Taproom. This event will take place on Friday, Jan 23rd from 5-9PM. The cost will be $15 for the meal. In the past few years, I've had a hard time getting firm numbers to the taproom in time for them to adequately prepare due to uncertainties in who was and wasn't coming. As a result, the plan is that those who are planning to attend must pay in advance and the monies must be received by me no later than 10 days in advance of the event (e.g. by Jan 13, 2015). The easiest way for me will be to send me a check but for those who would rather pay by card, I'll find a way to set something up for this (likely paypal). I've had some discussions with the factory this year and it's likely that they will be able to contribute in some way to a door prize or two. I'll work on lining up some more.
Also, similar to the past 2 years, I'll put together a rental van option so the out of towners can get a ride from the boat show to the brewery.
For now, mark your calendars for Friday, Jan 23, 5-9PM.

Funny you mentioned that Rick because Caryn and I have been talking about hosting an Andrews Bay gathering for years with a potluck either at our house or at one of the Picnic Shelters at Seward Park. Since it will be in the middle of winter, I would say our house would be the preferred venue.

Seriously Roger, let me know what you'd like to do and I'll help in any way I can. One caveat; no slumber party. :wink
