03/06 - 03/08 St. John's River Florida CBGT

It's time again to make your plans to join fellow C-Brats at Hontoon Island State Park located on the magnificent St. John's River near Deland Florida.
2018's dates are from Tuesday March 6 thru Thursday March 8. But many cruise the river and its tributaries before and after the gathering. The St. John's is presently about 8 or so feet higher than normal and the park will be closed till about December. But things should be back to normal by then. All public boat ramps are closed in the area and slow no wake is the rule at this time. I am in contact with Ken the park manager and he looks forward to our gathering every year.

If you have attended in the past you know we have some day trips, some C-Dory seminars, evening potluck meals, great fellowship around the campfire, Colby S'mores, Lee's ice cream, Pat's fund raiser auction and much more.

More information to come later.....

moderator please set up event signup and album...Thanks

WOW, 8ft? Probably no problem getting into the Pancake place eh? lol. Seems to slide a week earlier every year. Praying for no ice storms to tow thru, but it's already on our calendars! Ed Stone Park has worked out swell for me. Colby

My thoughts have been all Florida. Glad to hear all should back to normal soon and looking forward to seeing all ni March

Talk about global warming. We are at our cottage here in Michigan on September 24 it's 89.

Count me in! This will be my third try. First cancel was knee surgery and last year was emergency gall bladder removal. I'm almost afraid to sign up fearing what my body will do to get out of it

Already on our calendar! Look forward to our favorite river! Sure glad the river did not go up another 2 feet! Bad enough at what it is.

Colby....I've sent Mike Tyboo a PM. Probably busy on his day job. 😁

Larry....yes... you were as hot as Florida but your cooling off today. We are looking at 92 degrees again and the humidity has my hair curling! See you in March.

John and Vicki.....I'm sure the third time will be the "charm" . See you at Hontoon.

Jack and Jeanne....glad you'll be able to make it again this year. Trust all is well in Alaska.

Bob....I'll have the books that Jim on the Bob Cat gave me for you at the gathering.

All be sure to sign up when able.

Back to waxing the boat...Tom

Hey Tom!
We'll see you there.
You 'wax the boat', we'll slap on a couple coats of Poli-Glo in 20 minutes, and we can have a 'shiniest boat' contest at Hontoon!
No boat 'waxing' in the past 4 years, and I for one do not miss it a bit.

91 degrees and sunny here today, and the water is down to only 84 degrees, so the boating season will be over in a few months---then onward to Key West again!
Happy Waxing! and Happy Waste of Time!
John

Very funny John :D

Poli-Glo is a great product! I used it on my 22 "Out2C". It took me some days to strip off the old Poli-Glo, rub out the discoloration in the green gel coat and then put on multiple coats of fresh Poli-Glo. The outcome was fantastic! I just wish the previous owner would have rubbed out the gel coat and then I could have just reapplied like you did.

Some day I may Poli-glo the C-Otter but not yet. The gel-coat is still in great shape and the previous owner kept it well waxed. I only wax once a year and find it therapeutic. Gives me a chance to inspect the whole boat. The rest of the year I use Camco camper wash and wax to spruce it up.

And John you know better.....being on the boat is never "a waste of time".

Thanks for making me smile...see you at Hontoon!

Tom

Right now Hontoon Island is one of 7 State parks that are closed due to Hurricane Irma .I think by Mar it should be well on its recovery .
I didn't know at 69 that I would turn into a Lumberjack getting rid of about 10 good size trees on my property . We were extremely Lucky that hurricane Irma didn't stay a number 5 . I hope all the Florida Brats are finished with cleanup and have electricity . Hope to see all the usual suspects this March at Hontoon Jim on Little Treasure (jennykatz)

Thanks Tyboo for setting up our signup and album!

Everyone be sure to signup for the gathering on the site and also signup on the link below setup by Ken Elliot. Thanks Ken!

Jim...I had lots of trees on our property but they are down to two now and one of those was partially blown out of the ground. We hope that it stops raining in the area of the St. John’s. Lots of flooding yet. Ken the park manager hopes to start cleaning the park up in December.

See you at Hontoon......Tom

We’ll be there, really looking forward to meeting a bunch of new faces. Our first meet outside of Friday harbor or La Conner.
Be great to meet you all! Be sure and schedule time before and after the gathering to enjoy one of American's most beautiful rivers.!

Congratulations on the "New" Boat.

You need more than a week if you can take it. There are some nice semi organized cruises after--and mostly individual before. If Tom leads again--always lots of fun.

Somehow missed this until today. Wouldn't miss the gathering for anything. Last year was our first and was fabulous. Looking forward to seeing all C-brats, new friends and already friends. Oh boy!
