03/24 - 03/25 - Poulsbo, WA

Important updates!!!
We are all set for the weekend of March 23 - 25 in Poulsbo, and we have the party room for the weekend, too!!!
Here are some specifics:
* Cost is $15 per boat per night, and that includes shore power. (Note: if your boat is over 30 feet, then it's .50 per foot).
*There is also a fee of $50 for the party room, which we all agreed last year was well worth the cost. If 20 boats attend, then that's $2.50 per boat toward this cost. It sure made a great spot for the potluck - and for hanging out, too.
* Check in time is 1:00 on Friday, and Check Out time is 1:00 on Sunday.
*The only way to get a reservation is for me to send in payment for our first night's moorage, which I am happy to do. Please sign up ASAP, and let me know which nights you plan to be there. That way I can estimate the total amount.

How does that sound? Now I just have to get Chris to quit his job so we can go....

OK, here the deal for us. The kids have Spring break the week of March 26 and I took that week off so they will not destroy the house. They have to be watched closely. So, we were just talking about how cool it is that Janet made Chris make this particular weekend work. We just might make it work for us, too.

I have to go do some dad/g'pa stuff so I haven't had a chance to look at charts and the like. But I was hoping that by the time we get back from the store(s) someone with local knowlege would tell me if thinking about running the boat from Poulsbo to Seattle after the weekend and back a couple days later is worthwhile. Take your time - we're going to a clothes store so I am sure you have plenty. Try to word any replies nicely, though, 'cause I am going to be grouchy when we get back.

Thanks!

Yes, Tyboo, it is definitely a great idea to join us at Poulsbo and spend a couple of days in the area!!!
There's lots of shopping - tell your family!

Hi Folks:

We would like to attend the Poulsbo event as our first C-Dory gathering. Our 2000 22 cruiser was purchased last fall in Portland, OR. We have been taking our time getting used to the boat for the last few months and are looking forward to our first C-Brats event. The boat has been great fun, but also a learning experience. Our last boat was a sailboat and we are learning quickly that this thing don’t handle like a sailboat.

The boat is moored in Lake Washington in Seattle (Leschi Marina), so we are going to have to make it out the locks to get to Poulsbo, which should be entertaining to anyone watching (maybe we should try to go thought in the dark of night). Look forward to meeting everyone and putting some faces to names. I was really hoping to attend the SBS but ended up sick as a dog and thought it impolite to share…..

We will give everyone fair warning as we approach so that you can all get your fenders out in time for our arrival.

Forget it. Those girls are grounded until they're 27. Well, maybe not. Do you think there is a shop in the area that would have some sweat pants in Jamie's size that are similar to - but :smileo not exactly like - the ones Tiffany just got?

Fast forward twenty minutes from when I started this post.....

Just got off the phone with Jon and Cynthia. I think we have them talked into making this gig. And C-Lou said she will take the girls clothes shopping!! And Jon said Poulsbo to Seattle by water is a piece of cake. I love it when a plan comes together. I'm signing us up.

Well, if Mike is going to be there, I'll have to find a way to get over there. Now that he's a pirate though, I'll have to add some armaments to keep the boat and wife protected.

Mike - while C-Lou takes the girls shopping, I can take you "shopping". I've already done the research...

Count susan and I in. I am starting a new career this week but should be able to pull away saturday and sunday for you guys. really had a great time last years as did james with all the boys that came. don't think they made a dime singing on the corner but they had fun.

Is it true you have gone to work for Sea Ray or have become a fishing guide or have started your own Boat Rescue Company or are you making cement shoes on the side?

I can't wait until Poulsbo to find out.

I am trying to figure out how to get over for Friday Night and most of Saturday and then return Sunday afternoon - stay until Monday.

Might have to lean on a friend who lives in the area to get me to the Ferry Boat.

So! I'm sending off the reservation form along with a $300 deposit. If you have signed up and are NOT planning to be there both nights, please let me know right away which night you'll be there. There are 15 boats on the sign up list, and I'm reserving 20 slips.
Do you think it will work best to send me your payment, or just take care of it at Poulsbo?
Cost for two nights, including party room, is $32.50.

Whatever you want. Send your street address and we'll be happy to send a check or wait until the event and we'll pay then. Whatever is best for you. And thanks for organizing this.

I'll send you some money if you want. I will also bring you my last bottle of Stone Wolf Vineyards Special Limited Edition Barrel Select C-Dory Pinot Noir. All you have to do is share a little with the other ladies, be very careful with the custom label, and return the empty bottle to me.

We will most likely be driving up Saturday morning because the kids have school and I have work on Friday. We will probably be staying Saturday and Sunday nights there. If I am feeling wide awake and everything goes good it is possible that we will drive up Friday night, but we couldn't get there until 9:00 or 10:00, so I wouldn't bet on it.

Thanks for all you do.

Janet & Chris, you can count Caryn & I in. Just let us know if you want us to send the check or not. Thanks for organizing this event again this year, we missed last years.

It's all coming back to me now..... Here's what we did last year:
Please send me a note with the following info:
Your name
Boat name
Dates you're staying
size of vessel
And include a check to cover your moorage fee and a couple of bucks for the party room.
Send all this to me at:
Janet Erickson
521 51st Street SW
Everett, WA98203
Thanks!!! And I am VERY excited about the C-Dory Pinot Noir!

OK - I just put you in an envelope.

I can't even spell Pinenot Noear so it will be good to see the wine go to someone who can appreciate it. It's old anyway - 2004 I think. Now if we could just talk Chuckpacific and Wineman into going you might get some fresh stuff.

Hello, I've been lurking on the site (with good intent), and am the new owner of the Helen O (bought from Larry and Helen Stuck down in Cathlamet). I'd like to meet all of you, and this sounds like a good time, . . . could someone dispel my shyness and elaborate on the "goings ons" associated with these not-so-secret gatherings!

thanks,
Paul Stanton

pauls,

Welcome to the site you lucky dog. The Helen O is a beautiful boat, congratulations! I had my eye on that one but it wasn't the right time. As for our "not-so-secret gatherings", they are just a fun opportunity to meet new people, as Pat (Daydream) would say, your new best friends. Everyone I've met at these gatherings has been really nice and welcoming, no need to be shy at all. It's always fun seeing the customizations others have done on their boats and is a good opportunity to "steal" some of their ideas for your own boat. There's usually a dinner on Friday night, a day of cruising or sight-seeing on Saturday and a potluck on Saturday night. I missed last year's Poulsbo gathering but in general, that's been the plan.

Hope to see you in Poulsbo in your new boat. Are you going to rename it?

Peter

Definitly a nice boat, I too was lusting after that one. Larry did show you the secret Cdory handshake though, right? As long as you know that you should be fine at the gathering. Seriously, congrats on the new boat.
