04/11 - 04/12 - Cathlamet, WA

After all my chit chat, planning, shopping and work shifting, my fishing friend crapped out (90% sure) and with short notice I can't fill the #2 seat for launching or Friday fishing. He had a good reason but crap!
So Kathleen and I will show up Friday pre dark and will fish Sat (with the crowds) and then stay through Sun eve.
See you all there.

Capital Sea - Crap. I was hoping you would be able to provide some proof that those mythical springers actually exist. Now I really believe it is all a hoax. Great to hear you will still make it Friday.

B~C - As Capital Sea says, crap. However, I'm thinking your plan to stick around for the M-in-law's hospital stay is a wise one. Otherwise your M might rummage around on the outside of your head. The best to M's M.

bshillam - Rain? Let it. These boats don't leak top or bottom. Just keep the wind down and we'll be great.

Astoria Dave - Please do if you can. I have seen that boat qute a few times on the trailer but I don't recall seeing it afloat. Another Columbia River myth?? :xnaughty

C-Dawg - You might be taking this fishing a little too seriously. What if it really is a myth?

Larry Q - Sorry we won't get to C the C'ya, but it is nice of you to drive down to C us. Thanks for that.

We still hope to run up tonight, but will be Friday late morning if we can't.

Was so looking forward to this but have to cancel out on the trip. Someone take lots of pictures and be sure to post on the adventure.

Capital Sea,

If you want to come down Friday morning I've got room for you in my boat. Or we'll fish in yours and let the Commodore sleep undisturbed.

Give me a call if you'd like; 253-278-5567.

Special trailer porn, just for you, Tyboo! :P

We'll send the virtual unit up, at least. Costco muffins, delivered to your door!

Just a note to say thank you to Cdawg for a most generous offer. I am not sure at this point what I will do, but I am sure this was a kind offer.

We made it just fine. Had a bit of water going past Tongue Point and lots of logs and debris in the river. I smacked a big old log with the hull. We're not sinking so it must not of busted anything.

Three other boats are here. Traveler, C-Dawg and In Cahoots. And the weather is great.

There's a possibility that myself and my coxswain, a C-Dory 22 owner, are going up to Cathlamet this Saturday as part of a Coast Guard Aux. patrol. Not sure if we're going in his CD or my Campion. Regardless, are any of you interested in a vessel exam?

You all have fun and post pics. I was not planning on this trip but wish I could go. This weekend will be spent WORKING on the boat and not using it.

Bad news B~C. One of the guys told me but I had to check it out for myself because I so badly wanted it not to be so. The River Rat Tap is shut down and it looks like it has been since Christmas. It didn't fall in the water yet so mybe you and M can open it back up. The building is for sale. In today's market it can't be worth more than thirty five bucks.

DAMN....that place was neat...maybe we can take up a collection and buy it for an official brat clubhouse.

M's M's procedure went well...so far, they have to keep an eye on her for a few more days

you all keep a sharp eye out for pirate boats.

What a great group of people. Thanks to all. Once again, I didn't take any pictures, but I know there were a bunch taken so here's an album for them. Please. Thank you.

We had a great ride back right up to almost Astoria. Then the wind showed up. From Astoria to Warrenton was pretty hairy. Some very good friends of mine were crossing the bay bridge on their way to church as we were fighting through the slop and they said the water was going completely over the boat. The wind was gusting to 40 mph. When we made it into port, there was my friend in his Easter finest waiting at the dock to give us a hand. Good thing, too. It was blowin hard.

Glad you made it home safe, it was good to see you & crew again. Enjoyed chatting with you'all, wish we could have spent some more time down there.

Roger- on these threads, you can click on a posters boat name and it will take you to their photo album, you can also click on "pm" and send them a note...I'll send you one

Mike,
We drove to Chinook and saw the river was pretty rough, glad you and the girls made it home safely. We posted a few photos but then it said it was done with errors at the bottom of the page and it wouldn't let us post anymore. We will try again tomorrow.
Wonderful to see and visit with so many of our C-Brat family.

This was a great trip and it was good to meet what was for the most part, a new chapter of C-brats (for us).
After all of you left Sunday, a meeting was held on the bridge of Capital Sea and after much debate, it was decided not to rename her:
FISH MAGNET.
An amendment was offered to rename only the port half, but when first mate /owner kathleen exited the vessel, the amendment failed for lack of a second.
Easter supper was all you could eat columbia springer salmon. Supper this evening...you guessed it, springer salmon.
A special thanks to C-Dawg for some late night help, Tybo for the sturgeon 101 class (can't wait for June), and Traveler for use of your cribbage board.
Our only regret results from setting the digital camera down next ro the compass and killing the memory card and all of our photos.

Thanks, Roger. And thanks for posting the pic. I used that exact code, but didn't get the photo, I got the code. Why?

Tom, I used brined plug cut herring on a 5' leader, 12" dropper, and 4 oz weight fished right on the bottom. I noticed on Saturday that most fish where caught using a Fish Flash inline. I didn't have any of that bling. But Steve got his without any bling either, on Saturday.
