ODFW said (again) the springer fishing would remain open through 4/15 -- I think there's a derby on the 14th out of Scappoose (I saw a poster and signup sheet for raffle tickets -- 5 days 2 people in BC salmon fishing grand prize-- at work -- bugged everyone until I found out who'd printed them and sent off an email asking for info -- no response from him -- maybe because I told him I could send pictures for reference if he liked, that we're not rookies (he told one of the gals who'd inquired about it that she couldn't handle catching a salmon :crook ) -- today it was announced he was promoted to VP as of last Friday -- I immediately fired off another email congratulating him on his promotion and said I wasn't normally 'lippy' with vice presidents, BUT I'm still interested in the derby information) -- how far is Cathlamet from Scappoose? not that far, is it?

I think 2nd weekend in April is Easter, but that's cool for us...we'll hide the eggs in B~C's ride -- maybe some freezer burned smelt too? Just say the word!

Hey if the VP thinks girls and women can't fish, he DESERVES someone to be "lippy" with him. In fact, IMHO, he deserves a sharp whack up at least one side of his chauvenistic, neandrethal head.

what he said
Cathalamete to Scapoose would be a pretty fair jaunt by boat, it wouldn't be a distance where you would want to run up, fish and run back.

Heck, you can hide eggs on our tub, just gots to make sure they all get found :)
There's a nice little pond by the marina that's all fenced off, folks could hope the fence and hunt for chocolate easter eggs

If this gathering is scheduled I will make it, as long as it is not the first week end in April. Terri’s birthday is the 8th and I am her slave then and most other days, but I have a little leeway other days, but none on the 8th. My boat should be completed by then. I hope to have it ready for the Poulsbo gathering but that may be pushing it.

Ken – sometimes I am blinded with the brilliance of your post and can’t think of a comeback.

Dave-

No worries!

Just give the BUDDING SUMMER SEA CAPTAIN a couple of rude kicks in the ribs and be satisfied with it!

He seems to like it, I think it's good for him, and Marge says he deserves it!

Joe.

Not easter weekend if you please. thats the washington opener for halibut in the straits. And i will be halibut fishing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go for the left ribs, M has been working over the right side regulalry ....I had to say it, couldn't resist, I guess that's why this place is often refered to as the pub.

A few thoughts after Llooking at the calander-

Poulsbo is 3/24 and several folks will probably spend the rest of that week cruising about the Sound so a bit of down time would be in order.

The first weekend in April is the 7th & 8th & Easter is the 8th

The second weekend, 14th & 15th..no Easter bunnies, sufficent time to shake the hangover you have from Poulsbo...gets my vote.....the ribs may be healed up by then also

Tom- you always have the chance of catching a nice flounder down here, why worry about Halibuts when you can catch a nice 2# flounder :)

The tide should be perfect for a back channel cruise should anyone be interested.

Hope this gathering gets off the ground. This is always been a good time to get the mothballs out of the boat, gather with good people, maybe catch a springer or sturgen, and take a relaxing back water cruise. Anybody else interested?

it looks like above the Wauna Power lines is open. Those power lines are right at Cathalamete. link to WDFG regs- https://fortress.wa.gov/dfw/erules/efis ... jsp?id=466
AND they opened the keep days to Sundays too above the lines, I think is the delineation.

Looking like I've been rousted to sell raffle tickets and work on the derby since I got lippy with the newly appointed VP

In a reality check, it looks like we won't be able to make it if it's either the almost 1st, 1st or 2nd weekend in April...rat hunting one, fin clipping one weekend at Whiskey Creek...derby the other.

Daggon I'd love to win the raffle! 5 days for 2 all paid fishing in BC at a resort (and not Blue~C -- not that B~C doesn't catch fish....or does he? -- but British Columbia!) what a dream!

Caty- it sounds like you need to retire or something...much to busy.

It seems to me that either a) the person selling raffle tickets should be ineligable to win the prize, or, b) the person selling raffle tickets should somehow rig the drawing :) I hope you two win it, sounds like it would be a durn fine adventure.

It's early yet, but it's sure looking like Catchalimit may be a low key event
