awww, you can't really trust the Bonneville fish counts, they only count the fish that get past Larry, and that will be a scant few, especially this year
 
that rogue sea lion was caught in the bonne-fishcam....maybe why no springers! Sure feel better now that they've spent how many millions installing those grates that don't work?
 
Hi guys! It's way early yet, I won't even start fishing till after next week. From what I hear the outlook is not going to be good for them this year. We've still got water running in the Columbia though, that's all we need to make a c-dory owner happy.
 
THere's been several caught up near the multnomah channel. Most of the one's being caught are a real nice size. SOmeone caught a 37 pounder out of one of the tributaries. But for most fisherman it's pretty slow.
 
We are still planning to be at this gig, but some or all of us will miss the festivities Saturday evening. Tiffany is in some high falutin' cheerleading/dance program, and has a performance at halftime of the Trailblazer game in Portland Saturday evening. Kylee, another granddaughter, will be with us and is in the same program.

So here's the tentative TyBoo schedule: I will try to get Friday off of work and leave here about noon to head up the river. When the kids get out of school, Kay will drive the bunch of them and the dogs to Cathlamet. Sometime late Saturday afternoon, Kay and two of the girls will drive to Portland for the show and leave right after halftime to come back to the boat. Then Sunday morning, me and however many kids want a boat ride will head back downstream while Kay drives the other kid(s) and the dogs home. I do have a request from Tiffany to save her a plate of the good stuff from the potluck dinner. Or, Jamie and I might decide to go to the performance, because it is really cool, so I may be trying to bum some dog sitting.

We all are looking forward to this one. It has been a long time.
 
That's pretty cool, the young un's dancing at the Blazer game, to bad there will only be 437 people in attendance. Glad you can work in the gathering
 
Fished for 4 hrs today. Helen caught a 16 lb. hatchery hen while anchored, using a bait wrapped chrome and green kwik fish, size k-15. Fish are being caught.

Way to go! I went up to Sportcraft this morning to see the new boat and there musta been 35-40 boats there...didn't see anybody using a net, but I was pretty busy checkin out the new boat!
 
I haven't been paying attention to the fishing situation (because them springers hate me), but I have heard a couple times at work this week that the river salmon might be shut down soon. What's the scoop?
 
Mike, I think it'll be decided next week when they meet again...and we didn't even get kissed...again...you know, they "promised" to keep sport open until at least 4/19.....commercials haven't fished since 3/15, I think...and the numbers at the dams are nearly nill...haven't seen one in the Bonneville cam cuz I can't stay up for days without sleepin :)

PS..Springers don't like me either...think I've boated 2 in my life, but I'll never want to quit tryin :-)
 
I've been out to Aldrich Point a couple times in the last two weeks, once over and across to Skamokawa and back. A number of boats out, but success rate has been low, less than a fish a boat. I can't imagine the run is delayed, with all this water in the River. If the nonexistent counts at Bonneville are representative of the size of the run, I would not be surprised if they closed it. Bummer. Spring chinook is my favorite eatin' fish!
 
There has been quite a few people on a certain fishing forum posting of pretty good success lately from cathlamet on up to st helens. Don't give up hope.
 
Well, Sportcraft's busy with other boats...I drove up to get some measurements yesterday, and after them having had the boat for a full week, they were just beginning to work on it yesterday afternoon...first move, swapping the big motor. I'm fearin we'll be no-shows for this gathering, as there's a ton of stuff to swap out...frustrations, frustrations!

I've also discovered there's apparently no set measurements where the marks are made for the cut outs for the windows on the back wall of the cabin, as these are a full 1 1/2" higher on the new one than the old boat...no room for the top part of the rod storage...back to the drawing board....can't wait to see how this stove thing is going to turn out...the hole is going to be HUMUNGOUS and it's going to have to be somehow filled in to get the old stove to fit in there. :amgry

This must be terribly frustrating for you. I just got back from Sportcraft today. Had the 20 hour service done. I dropped it off a week ago thursday so for an oil change and valve check. they had my boat for a week and one day. I hope they put your boat on the priority list. I'd invite you to cathlamet on my boat but it looks like we have a family obligation that weekend and won't be going. It's killin me :smilep Hang in there. :rose
 
For the stove I would see if they can just put a whole new counter top on, if possible. Rather than filling it. Is that some new breed of wallas? Hang in there, you'll be fishing soon.

Good question Sark...I don't know for sure...looked on Scan Marine's site and there's nothing that looks like that!

I don't know what they'll do with the "fill" -- will just have to wait and see...as long as it doesn't 'cave in' and it works . . .
 
Hey Guys, the local Chamber of Commerce just called and said they heard of our gathering and is offering us the maiden use of the new/old trolley car that they have just put together. This is an old San Francisco trolley that has been refurbished and mounted on a truck chassis to be used as a group shuttle service from the marina to local points of interest to us. The Saturday morning of our gathering there is a pancake/egg/sausage.. etc. breakfast at the fairgrounds in Skamokawa 6 miles away. It could include a trolley ride through the Julia Butler-Hansen Wildlife refuge along the way/back. OR we could use the trolley for any of the other points of interest in the area. Your thoughts?

It was nice to talk to you and about your C-Dory boats that are going to visit our Marina on Saturday the 15th of April. I understand there will be about 16 boats and some are going to go for a cruise and some will fish. If the wife's want to stay at the Marina or if the Fishing Season is ended we would like to offer you some ideas. We have a new 1936 converted Trolley car that we would like to try out on your club.

We can just tote your people up town or to the liquor store or do special tours. Just Check out the Chamber web site for more information.

Let me know if your people are interested in anything particular. There is a pancake Breakfast at the fair grounds in Skamokawa on Saturday from 8:00 till 11:00 and an Easter egg hunt at Vista Park at 12:00.
