OK, just got the last of my photos up - there are now a total of 114 pix of Lopez! If you ain't in 'em you must not have really been there!

David, I'll vouch for you.....I'd never forget seeing one of the "brewsky bros." at a gathering. :beer :beer :beer

Just another day at work for Fireman Dave, eh?

I figure that I don't need to join the CG Aux, because my percentages of rendering assistance on the water is probably as good or better than the Aux vessels. (That's the second time in that same area that I've had someone waving their arms at me for assistance). I'm almost to the point of not being able to remember all the other times elsewhere on the water.
(Although any "memory deficit" at this time could probably be attributed to age :disgust ).

Wow, what a gathering. :thup :thup Sure wish some of us right coasters could have been there, looks like you had a great time.

Hate to ask again, but could someone spend a few minutes for us non-attendees and put some names with those faces? It helps to keep us in the picture :photo so to speak. I know they all can't be Pat Anderson, particularly the little doggie (Oscar?)

Thanks!! When we post pix of our Potomac River Cruise in June, we'll caption them so you can see usn's too.

The picture of the fish on the floor of the cockpit is the fish I caught after you guys left, if that is what you are referring to...Caught it between Speiden and Cactus, right in the middle of the channel. I thought it looked like a ling, but at the cleaning table, others said they didn't think it was a ling, maybe a Pacific cod or something.

Hey Pat, who's photo of the ling cod is that?

Oops - well, Dave S will vouch for you! I guess the camera didn't come out until a little later on Saturday.

I am working on putting names on pix - it takes more than a "few minutes" though! Everybody, please scan through and fill in the blanks!

Well, made it back home yesterday evening. You fine NorWesterner's are making it harder and harder to cross those state lines in a southerly direction...

My head is filled with great memories...there's far too little space and time to relive them all here. 'Tis truly special when this many great folks get together in one place.

Posted another few pages of pics in the Lopez album. Looking forward to the next one!

Lopez Island was a wonderful break for us during our busiest time of the year. The people, the weather, the food, the fishing (well, maybe not the fishing) were all great. I'm always amazed at the food that appears at these gatherings. Our motivation to get to this weekend was very high. On Thursday we thought that we wouldn't be able to leave Friday, but by Friday afternoon we were on our way. Saturday at Lopez was one of the best times since we picked up the boat exactly one year earlier. Steve and Larry, we do need more 25's at these gatherings. I hope you both can make Blakely.

Pat, you're right, that's a ling cod. I think someone was poking fun when they said it was a pacific cod. Check out the marine fish identification on page 98 of the new Washington fishing pamphlet. Those photos represent the fish very well.

Dreams really do come true! Now that we’ve sailed lazily in, out and around the magnificent San Juan’s, feasted on crab, smoked salmon and freshly caught ling cod, knocked back 2-buck chuck, quaffed finely crafted ales, early morning Da Latte, gunk holed in glorious style, all in the midst of the company of great friends, what can there be left to live for?. Ah yes! SF Bay Delta, Lake Roosevelt, Blakely Island. Praise the Poseidon! There is Life after Lopez. See ya’ll at the next port o’call.

I just want to thank one more person before this thread fades - a big "Thank You!" to Wade for doing the Vessel Safety Check, we are proud of our new sticker. Don't know that it will ward the CG off but it sure can't hurt. Everyone should do this - I might have gotten boarded (after this next October) and had expired flares, but as a result of the VSC, I will for sure have new flares before the old ones are expired.

I want to thank everyone for such a great trip. I want to especially thank Tim for the great company and fishing tips. Robbin was so bummed that she missed the trip and was upset that I didn't take any pictures till I mentioned that there were a already 188 posted. We will be going back up to the San Juans on Friday for some fishing and cruising. Again I would like to thank everyone for the great food and friendship.

C-Brats C-Brats come one come all, and bring your vessel to our port of call.
Lift your water, beer, and wine, and cheers to all and to all a good time

Who has more fun than us!

Thanks again Fred for the suicide grip.

Great to see the crew

Fred,

Taking a ride on the Anita Marie was one of the great spots of last week-end and it is I who should thank you for sharing your boat and the time on the water. I do have one question though, did you catch any of those Ling Cod that were keepers? With all that new gear and a couple of extra days I hope you were able to take home a fresh piece of fish to share with Robin.

And also a thanks for the trip to Blakely. Now I know how to get there for July.

Tim

Tim, thanks to your help I was able to have a 30" ling commit suicide on one of those sinker/hoochie combos. I did catch about another 4 and some rockfish the next day but none big enough. I was fishing in the same spot as Saturday, Jon has sworn me to secrecy. I shared the catch with the two boats that were at Sucia and alass there was none left for Robbin. We will give it a try this weekend, maybe even Robbin might get one.

Fred, good luck this weekend for ling cod fishing. Watch those tides, they're going to be wicked this weekend. Port Angeles is going to have one of the biggest tide changes of the year this Friday, so I elected not to fish this weekend.
Jon

Fred,
Glad to here you got one of those big fellers on the boat but sorry Robbin didn't get to partake in the eating. No wonder she was bummed. I don't blame her a bit but maybe she'll catch her own and enjoy the whole thing. As Jon said, watch the tides and have a good trip. Keep one in mind in this direction cause sturgeon open up again next week-end in the lower river.

Tim

Actually, based on my own criterion, I must not have really been there, unless I should also happen to be in your photo...

Just added 2 more photos to the Lopez collection. They prove that David did make the trip.

Hi Pat,
I just posted some pics in my photo album of the Lopez Gathering and the first picture has you in it to prove that you were there. I'm not sure how to transfer the lopez pics to the album. This was my first opportunity to meet everyone and I just wanted to say I haven't meet a friendly group. Good food and great keg--s of brew. We had a great weekend and the weather was great. Monday evening, we had a big ling cod fish fry at the house, doesn't get any better. I will be going out this Friday to do some shrimping and bottom fishing. They opened the shrimp season for one more day, the 14th in my area.
Fish-on, Jim
