05/02 - 05/04 - Jarrell Cove, WA

Our arrival has also been pushed back to Sat. afternoon. Unexpected commitment Sat am. Look forward to seeing you all there.

Although we have yet to get new our boat wet (not counting rain!) - since it is getting electronics installed at a neighbor's house - we would like to stop down (by car) just for the day on Saturday to meet some other local C-Dory owners.

Are there usually other C-Dory owners sans boat(s) in attendance? Or would we be totally out of place?

Seeing other C-Dory's in person will also give us ideas on camperback options.

Tanks,
Dan & Tanya Denver

By all means, stop by the park with or without a boat. If you come by land be sure to stop by the Olympic Bakery just after the turn to Hartstene Island, and by a few dozen whatevers to share. Just kidding. If you have never been to Jarrell Cove State Park, drive in as far as the restroom building and park where the road ends. Follow the sight line of the road to a trail that leads to the picnic shelter. The inside dock is just beyond the shelter, and that is where you should find the C-Dorys. And if you want to feel at home, bring a folding chair for sitting around on the dock and sharing tales of .......Well, I guess you will have to come and find out just what tales will be told.

Robbi

Robbi,

Thank you, young lady. Eagerly looking forward to attending our first CBGT and someday - hopefully soon - actually attending one in the proper manner (by boat).

Had the good fortune to talk to and then meet Harvey and Deena on SleepyC out of Sequim. Also met Paul and Verla Priest also out of Sequim. Not had an opportunity to meet other area C-Dory owners yet.

Tanks again,
Dan & Tanya

Just talked with Jarrell Cove State Park Director today

She indicated no other groups scheduled so far.

Firewood supply - very low today - She thought it might be replenished by Sat?? $5. per small bundle. Best to bring some extra, and or charcoal for grill.

Restrooms and warm Showers work as mentioned by Robbi -

As of today the sewage pump out system and Porti Potti dump for on board waste is not working at Jarrell Cove - she was not sure if it will be fixed by the weekend.

Power outage on the island is common- she said no running water if power out - suggest you bring drinking water just in case

The dock and boat ramp at the Hartstene Bridge is open -overnight parking not recommended. The dock however does give you access to
Pickering Marine - Honda mechanic open Sat 9 to 3 just a few feet west of the boat ramp above. 360-427-7876 He has good reputation in this area.

Easiest approach -stated earlier - in reasonable weather is counterclockwise around Hartstene Island - watch for sandbar between McMicken Island and Hartstene - and off the North end of Hartstene - usually wind is from S coming up Case Inlet

On west side of Hartstene - counterclockwise direction first Marina is Indian cove - private Marine - second marina going south is Jarrell cove.

Be sure to fuel up at Zittles or Boston Harbor before coming north.
Email or PM me if questions

Looking forward to a fun weekend - have a safe voyage -

Jim

Looks like the weather for the weekend will be good. I am bringing some brats for the Brats, to grill on the BBQ for Saturday night. Should be a great time. See you there. Robbi

Robbi-
I made a couple gallons of my c-brat chilie for the Saturday night feast.
The boat is about ready and I even put some new air in the inflateable.
We will be leaving home around 4pm Friday and should launch around 5pm at Swantown and be at the cove around 6pm.

We are in Whistler, BC, will be leaving today about noon. The road is crummy (construction work for the 2010 Olympics), lots of delays, pretty sure we won't get back in time to get to Zittels to get launched today, so it is almost certainly tomorrow morning for us. We got everything we want for Jarrell's Cove laid out before we left Fall City Tuesday afternoon. The first big test, can two people be reasonably comfortable overnighting on a 16 Angler? Stay tuned for the answer to that one!

Robbi and all, at home we are about 1/8 mile from Zittles but by 1PM today we will be headed up I-5 to Edmonds marina where we will overnight the boat in the marina so we can head out at 7:30AM to our prawn grounds.
Our plan is to be back out of the water and headed south by 2pm and back in at Zittles by 6:30 Sat and to be docked up with all of you by 7:30PM.
We will bring 100 prawns or so and a fish griller (two sided fine grill with handle). Our hope is that you will have a hot bed of coals going and that we can have some help eating the days catch grilled mexican style.
Look forward to seeing / meeting all of you at this our first gathering. We do plan to stay overnight.

Also, one last note about Zittles: If you are coming from the north you may want to get off I-5 at Martin Way which is the next exit AFTER Marvin since Marvin has three roundabouts that are too fun with a boat in tow.
From the North after you exit at Martin go right at the base of the ramp and continue for a few blocks past the Safeway to Slater-Kenny Way and turn right. Take Slater-Kenney all the way to the flashing red lighted stop and turn right. Stay on this road all the way out as it turns and goes up and down rolling hills till you get to the big clear Zittles sign out at about 95th street or so. Then follow the signs.
From the South take the second part of the Slater-Kenny exit which takes you over the freeway and go straight to the above mentioned flashing red lighted stop sign etc.

Checking out

Robbi, Joe and Ruth are at Jarrell's cove and I will be headed back there in a few minutes and off email and web till Sunday - I will check email on my phone if you have questions.

Sandra and I will now be able to attend. We should be at the Cove around 2:00 PM tomorrow. We will be there for the evening Pot Luck. I plan to bring Smoked Salmon.

So Sorry We are going to have to miss this one. We had planned a nice cruise down from Brownsville today but due to some nasty bug I am not wanting to share with anyone, we are going to have to pass. Miss you all.
Have a great time, see you at Friday Harbor.
Thanks Jim for all the work in setting this up, and all the rest for good directions, tips and efforts too.

We'll be leaving Fall city around 9:30 a.m. with more stuff stuffed in a 16 Angler than it actually can hold! Have to get some boat gas, should take about an hour and a half to get to Zittel's. Our last addition was a second 12 gallon gas tank, as 12 gallons is only a 60 mile or so range to bone dry...unfortunately no time to clean her up, since we have been at a conference in Whistler. Oh, well...

Jarrell Cove was the first C-Brats gathering we ever attended.... just wanted to say we had a great time. Thanks to all for making us feel very welcome and comfortable. Special thanks to Jim States for organizing the event.

Hopefully, when we finally get our boat in the water we will be able to attend a CBGT in the proper 'by boat' manner.

Tanks again for the kindness of all.

Be good,
Dan and Tanya Denver

Many thanks to Jim for putting together a great weekend at Jarrell Cove. Just awesome visiting with so many of the C-Dory folks that we know from all these years of being C-Brats, plus meeting some new C-Dory owners that we hope to see more of in the future. The food was wonderful. Salmon, fresh shrimp, a curry dish that was delicious, beans, chili. You name it! Just a huge amount of food that appeared it seems out of nowhere. Thanks again, we had a wonderful time.
