Pat,

Stevenson is our stomping grounds in the great Columbia River Gorge. We don't actually live there, but that's where we do our search and rescue. Will you be at Skamania Lodge or the Bonneville Resort? Either one is really nice. While you are there, make a trip to the Walking Man Brew Pub. It's a nice place and you can compare their beer with yours. Try their Imperial IPA, a.k.a. Homo Erectus. (All their brew names have some sort of walking theme.)

Good gracious, I've never seen a signup list that long! Hey, will that replace the record set last year by those pesky right siders?

Jim and Laurie,

What a nice offer. Thank you! We still aren't sure if we are leaving here Thursday evening or Friday a.m. really, really early. I have to work Thursday so if we leave then, we'll be getting up that way really late at night and will likely pull into a rest stop and sleep on the boat. But if we leave Friday a.m. we may meet up and travel over with you.

This is shaping up to be a great gathering. :-)

Knotty -C ,
No problem , all part of being in the Family,mi casa-su casa.

The Cat Guy is right , it is looking like a big list!
The weather is looking ok all in all, certainly not like we have seen in Swantown in the past ,for sure! Doen't matter anyway hey we are C-Brats :!:.
Our Cruising Season begins on May 7th and ends on May 6th annually.

David, I would only get near one of those :beer Logo Glasses just to eyball it .. If anyone would shatter one, I would  .. That's why we've been acquiring acrylic ones.

By the way - shrimping in Area 7 (which includes Lopez) is open DAILY starting on Sat. That is (unlike Hood Canal) one can shrimp all day on both Sat AND Sun. So Pat, you should be able to go home with limits enough to make Patty happy. Joyce and I will be out on both Sat and Sun. I have new buoys rigged, some extra weight and new lines ready to go. Need to pick up the bait this evening.

Dusty - know of any halibut spots on the leeward side of a westerly wind in the area? Several spots on the chart look fishy.

I've been looking forward to this for months, but my mother-in-law is very ill and needs us here. So, a slot for a 25 has opened up. We're going to miss seeing all of you.

Roger,

The currents should be very mild at Jones Island... good shrimping ground, and we plan to be there Saturday a.m.

Halibut? Eastern Bank, Hein Bank not too far, but no lea...
The weather guesser sez not much wind for the week-end but what do they know??? My guess a max of about 15 knots, which shouldn't be bad with minimum current.

See ya there!

Dusty

Lopez is going great!! Good group of folks and great dinner last night. A little nippy and cool for us desert types (and some showers predicted) but the nor'westers are jumping around in t-shirts! Folks out fishing and shrimping now so maybe some fresh chow for appetizers.

Pat - I would be curious as to how slow it is. Have you tested the speed with an online speed test? I have Bluetooth and also a wireless adapter on my Dell AXIM, I planned on using whenever possible. I also looked into a cellular connection. Haven't decided which way to go, but what limited experience I have with Bluetooth, has left a lot to be desired.

A note of thanks to David (Anna Leigh) for taking the bull by the horns back in February and putting this Lopez gig together. It was a great weekend. Lots of new folks to meet & lots of hugs from the others we've met before, several christenings, sinking of the Sonja, the revival of the Sonja (for the moment anyway!), great food and much much more.

Posted this about two hours ago and it vanished.

Just returned from a great week-end of fun and more food than could be eaten. Although there were several there that gave it a good shot. The two pony kegs blew just after the Sat evening "on the dock" buffet. Pale Ale blew first and then about 15 minutes later the Hefeweisen. We were treated to fresh caught prawns, as opening day for shrimping was Sat. Fresh oysters, steamed and on the half shell.

An old fishing boat, the Sonja, that has been there for several years decided to sink at its slip duing Friday night. So we had a show all day Sat as salvage crews re-floated her.

All in all it was a nice week-end. Not real sunny, but it didn't rain until after dark on Saturday night.

Lopez C-Brats....

Thanks to all for a great weekend. Sorry Joyce and I departed without benefit if a "good bye" but there are still prawns in the ocean and the season was open. Joyce and I slipped out a little after 6:15 and went up to Jones Island for another day of shrimping. Pots were in the water by 7AM and out by 11:30. Didn't quite get our two limits today but left with about 120 spot prawns. Would have limited out if we stuck around another hour or so but we needed to get on the road. All-in-all, a good shrimping weekend. Thanks for the advice Dusty!!! :thup I almost lost a pot with two foam buoys on it. The floats went under for about an hr but came up at slack. After that, I put more floatation on all.

I ran into Robbi (C-Run), Brock (Bambina) and Fred and Robbin (Anita Marie) while I was achored out for breakfast in the bay at Jones Island State park. Seems that opted for the quieter life this weekend (relative to the Lopez gather) and spent Fri/Sat elsewhere in the San Juans. Regardless, it was nice to see them stop by. It was probably the good luck of this chance meeting of "extra C-brats" the brought the one shrimp pot float back up.

Thanks again to David and Pat for bringing the beer. Thanks to David for organizing and thanks to all for the great feast on Sat.

Best,
Roger

The Work Release crew also had a suburb time at the Gathering. A large variety of great food and and fine people. Got up this morning at 5:30 and the wind was picking up, listened to the weather report and the prediction was for 15 to 25 knot winds out of the South, so True Story and I headed out to get across Anacortes. Had 3 to 4 footers but the C-Dory took them well, with a little water going over the top. Hope everyone got back safe and sound. Will post some pictures when the link is working.

I am not really savvy enough to quantify it...it is just that pages really load slowly! But it works, which is great, since my employer the City of Snoqualmie bought the Treo and gave me an unlimited data plan!
