MMMM bakery.....

Mark, if you like bakeries, you'll need to head south on your return trip from Friday Harbor to Poulsbo. (Poulsbo has a great bakery within 2 blocks of the marina).

(Not exactly on your way as you return to Everett, but I'm just trying to include the Friday Harbor Gathering in this comment).

In the process of looking for things in La Conner, I found this cool interactive map. They also have maps of Anacortes and Bellingham. The maps allow you to zoom in, wander around and click on names businesses to get info on them. It's a pretty cool way to see what is in walking distance from the marina's in those towns.

Roger,

That's an interesting site. I note that not all the businesses are shown, only the ones that subscribe.

We moved our boat from Everett to La Conner recently and I have found that almost all of the businesses in town are within walking distance of the marina.

There is a current in the channel almost all the time. Slack occurs about midway between high and low water. The current runs north during flood tide (going from low to high). Before docking, determine which way the current is running and how strong it is. Look at the pilings for clues. It is best to dock with the bow going into the current.

Please watch your wake in town! If going into the current, your wake will be higher that you might think.

North of the Twin Bridges (Hwy 20), the red and green bouys change sides, so check your charts carefully to stay in the channel.

Update time. 37 boats signed up thus far :) We had 42 last year so we're in the ballpark. Roger and Janet of Dreamer have been making up very spiffy, (old guy tech term), nametags for everybody in hopes that we will keep and reuse them. If you do not have one, PM them to get one made. We will have semi-custom tags for everybody who arrives but does not have a Dreamer special. Sadly the factory cannot be there this year, understandable when they're pinching every penny. But...Samantha, their marketing guru sent me a goody pack to distribute. A snazzy C-Dory cockpit entry rug, nice light jacket, hats, tee shirts, and the new C-Dory and Tomcat brochures which look very nice. A big improvement especially as the C-Dory brochure has a rare photo of the secretive and elusive bare chested DaNag! Noticeably absent from the brochure were the C-Dory 29 (affectionately known as either the beached whale or Latham's folly), and the open 22 center console.

Dinner Friday night at Downriggers like last year, we'll be on the same dock and have the breakwater/party minibarge. I can't make weather god sacrifices just yet but will do so as we get closer to the date.

I think the 29 is officially dead. If you go to Diamond Seaglazes website and click specials you'll see they are trying to unload the last four sets of windows they have for the 29.

Well my wife is not confident she'll be able to get off of work, even for just Saturday. She's still in her RN "preceptorship" aka residency, so I understand. It still sucks. :( Since she'll probably be unable to attend, my son is going to put in for the time off and he'll be a third hand on board.

I should be back in time for FH. I fly down to SF on the 2nd to crew a Ocean Alexander 54 back up to Anacortes. Should only take 4-5 days if the weather co-operates.

Only a couple weeks away now! We plan to launch from Bellingham and are still interested in travelling with others as we are rookies. We plan to drive over from N. Idaho on Thursday, camp for the night and be ready to go any time on Friday. We are flexible and could even come over Wednesday, if someone was going on Thursday. Would someone still be willing to show us the ropes?

Everyone has their own opinion but my recomendation would be to come to Whidbey Island and park your trailer at Cornet Bay. There is a fee but it's not much and it's safe. You are right at Deception Pass and it's an hour and a half from there to Friday Harbor. Just time your trip with the tide. It's an easy run from there and mostly protected. I'd love to go with you but I can't make it this year.

We will be launching from Cornet Bay mid morning on Friday depending on tide and would be happy to convoy over with you. Cornet Bay has good ramps, parking in the state park patrolled lot is $10/night, launch fee is (I think) $8. PM us if you want to discuss this in more detail.

We'll be launching in Bellingham as well. Let's see if we can't hook up on Friday, not sure what time we will get there. If I can get the Friday off, we will be there early, if not, we'll be coming up Friday afternoon. We'll have to play it by ear from here...

Thanks for the responses. When time gets closer, maybe someone could suggest a departure time from Bellingham on Friday. Anytime will work for us as we will be there Thurs. night. Cell# (208) 816-8837

Thanks for the suggestions on Cornet Bay. We would like to check that out in the future. Ken

Most likely, I'll be ready to depart the Bellingham Launch by noon on Friday. Like you mentioned above, when we get closer to the departure date we can firm up the time.

(Ken, I just sent a PM to you).

I'm REALLY looking forward to this gathering!

We'll be driving up from the Tacoma area Thursday afternoon and spending the night in Bellingham on the boaterhome. Might have to gather a group that eve for some adult beverages.

Sounds like you got alot of good offers from the brats, will offer up one more. We plan on launching out of B'ham Thursday around noonish. If you are intested in one more day at FH Kathy and I will be happy to motor over with you.

Toni and I will be there Thursday afternoon also, we'll blow up the dink and prep the boat for a Friday launch. We hope to leave after breakfast and depending on the weather & current take a slow 6-10 knot cruise to Friday Harbor.

One of my friends who works at the Lazy B says there is a handbook of TLAs...Three Letter Acronyms!

You mean at the Pre-Friday Harbor, Bellingham Gathering (PFHBG)? I used to work for the government so assigned an acronym.
