05/12 - 05/14 - Friday Harbor C-Brats Get-Together

Can't wait. Remember, the Saturday evening potluck is at 5 PM. I think I know what you and Susan will be bringing to the table. :wink

So far we have 33 C-Dory boats that plan to stay overnight for the event. Some people feel more comfortable just sending a PM that they are coming. If you plan to attend the event overnight and want to stay on the dock, it is important that you let us know. I need to notify the Harbormaster to block off enough slips for us to be together in one large group.

Please send us (DayBreak) a PM soon if you plan to be at this event. I need to know Vessel name, your name, guests, date of each night you plan to stay along with whether you wish to participate in the Auxiliary Coast Guard Vessel Inspection.

For those wishing a free Coast Guard Vessel Inspection on Saturday, I received an e-mail today about a change to the Coast Guard fire extinguisher requirements. Any disposable or non serviceable extinguisher, such as Kidde or First Alert, has a 12 yr. End of Life. Be sure that the date code, stamped on the bottom of your extinguisher (or on the label near the UL Listing), has not expired.

Looking forward to seeing you soon.

Your welcome Brock. Have fun getting the boat ready and making her shine.

The Auxiliary Coast Guard inspectors will be busy Saturday morning with a total of 25 vessels to inspect so far. My wish is for everybody to pass. As a reminder, I posted a link on the bottom of page 3 on this topic as to what items they will look at. Have your Vessel I.D. card available.

As for me, I just need to figure out where I am going to launch.

Friday Harbor Report

It was a beautiful day here in the SJIs, I just de-picked Pan-A-C'ya, so I decided to make a cruise over to Friday Harbor. Clear fuel is now $5.40 a gallon after the BoatUS discount (have to show the card) and the marina was in good order. I was very curious as the the damage from the recent fire so I took a walk up town. It looked like at least 4 buildings where severally damaged or destroyed from a business or two from the Cask & Schooner restaurant to Herb's Tavern. It was very sad to see.

On a happier note; I meet a nice couple with a Venture 23 at the gas dock who live on San Juan Island, but seemed unaware of the upcoming gathering and encouraged them to attend. I hope they attend.

A little over 2 weeks away! Joanie & I are really looking forward to the CBGT.

Steve, good to hear you're up and around, and thanks for the info. I hope those locals in the 23' are available to drop by for a visit, or maybe overnight.

Thanks for the report Steve and hope that nice couple attends.

Potluck, Potluck Potluck! As a reminder, get ready to participate in the potluck and festivities happening on the Party Barge (located on Breakwater A) starting 5 p.m. Saturday. Bring your own dinnerware and drink.

Steve (Pan-A-C'ya) and Patti (Daydream) have some great things planned. Steve, if you are watching, can you please give us some details of what to expect Saturday evening? I am really excited about what is in the works. Gary

All I can say is that it is going to be a Rip-Roaring good time! Everyone needs to put on their thinking caps for the challenge of winning some cool factory swag. The NMI factory has graciously paid for the Party Barge, and Mark, Ryan, and Michael are expecting to attend. I think I will probably make my "award winning" guacamole, and brownies for dessert.

Hi all,

What's shore power like at Friday Harbor? What outlet type is available? I'll be looking to plug in an AC 15a battery charger. Thanks.

Steve, I checked with the Port and indeed the cost for the party barge rental has been paid. Thanks for your part in the details for Saturday evening. It will be nice to see NMI representatives/staff at the event.

Tom, you will need a 30 amp. male 3 prong marine adapter to mate to your AC 15 amp. battery charger. Let me check with the Port to see if they allow this type of set-up.

Karl, so sad that we will not be able to see you and Tango at the event. We were looking forward to meeting up again. Give Tango a pat on the head for me. If things change, you know where to find us.

Little baby Kiera is graduating college that weekend in DC, so we won't be in Friday Harbor. Have fun!

Tim, WOW she must be really smart. I thought she was a baby just like a couple or couple a couple years ago. WOW, kids grow fast.

Karl, Sorry to see you aren't going to make it this year. Will miss seeing you and Tango. (And I have my own new SD card. Thanks you again.)

Sounds like we will be having some kind of trivia game on Saturday to earn that swag. I have been going through the history of C-Dory with how it all began and found out that Mark Wright, Ryan Binning, Michael Millison and Greg Little are the owners of NMI. I have met Greg (VP of Operations) and am sorry to see that he is not on the list expecting to attend. It will be nice to meet and talk with the others.

Thank you to all who have sent in a PM with days planned to arrive and depart. We have 22 boats scheduled to arrive on Thursday and a total of 36 boats on the dock by Friday. It is not too late to sign-up if you were thinking to attend. H-Dock will mostly be full on Thursday evening. When the slips on H-Dock are all taken, the harbormaster will start filling Walkway D and the even slips of G-Dock. This will enable us to hold a continuous line of C-Dory boats. When you arrive at Friday Harbor, you must call the Port on VHF Ch. 66 (or call 360-378-2688) for specific slip assignment! Some slips may look open but it may be a paid slip for someone out on the water that day. We have a special discounted group moorage rate of $.25 off, making the rate $0.80/ft per night. Power is an additional $0.10/ft per night. Keep this in mind when you pay at the office.

Saturday will be busy, starting with Aux. Coast Guard vessel inspections at about 9 am and a 5 pm potluck/festivities with boat christenings to follow by Pat Anderson.

See you soon. Gary

Just got off the phone with the Port of Friday Harbor. Spoke with Adam and made my reservation for slip H-3. Now you know where to find us. :) Adam told me that you may also call the port (360-378-2688) and make your specific slip reservation now. Upon arrival, go to the harbor office for payment.

Tom, in today's conversation, Adam told me that it is not a problem to plug a marine 30 amp. adapter into the electrical post to power a small battery charger in keeping your battery topped off.

Looking forward to seeing everyone soon. Gary

Making the short trek from Lake Stevens to check out the event. Looking forward to meeting some folks and talking shop!
