Looks like I'll be coming to the gathering solo. Caryn has a prior commitment on Saturday. I won't be leaving until Saturday morning with an eta of 12:00 noon. Save me a slip! :thup

We just had breakfast at the Bayside Cafe here in B'Ham earlier this morning with John & Amy aka Crazy Frazey. They're on their way to Sucia and will arrive in Friday Harbor Saturday afternoon. Can't forget their dog Teddi...just bursting with energy.

Observed Dick (HOBBES) launching his 22 Cruiser but didn't have an opportunity to ask him if he was going to Friday Harbor.

What a beautiful calm morning. Barry, you've pulled it off again with the weather Gods!

Joyce and I won't be making it to Friday Harbor this year. Just didn't get my act together on many things re: the boat and the lack of a shrimping opportunity made us think we should spend the weekend dealing with the boat and outfitting the truck for camping. Most disappointed that I will miss the Marinaut. You all should down an extra glass of wine/beer for me.

Read back a couple of pages, or on the Marinaut thread -- Oldgrowth Dave explained that they would not have the boat at FH due to some parts not arriving in time. Maybe it will be at Bellingham.

It is drop dead gorgeous here in FH! After all our travails with the darn trailer lights, we finaly got everything working and arrived at B'ham about 4:00 p.m. Encountered David in Anna Leigh by coincidence at Peavine Pass, we both arrived at the FH Marina about 6;30 pm, ALL of H Dock was already full of C-Dorys! Film at 11! (Tyboo - we could use an album already, lots of cameras here I am sure!).
 
We went to the Waterfront Festival here in Anacortes and saw the Quick & Dirty boat race, but my soul was in Friday Harbor! :unlove

We got back home this afternoon after a great weekend at our first C-Brats gathering. We met so many of you I can't hope to remember all the names but that will come with time. Friday night I was there with my daughter Amanda and Saturday with my wife Ann and son Jordan. We all had a great time and snagging an authentic C-Brats hat was a bonus. I've always wanted a $100,000 hat! I posted some photos of our trip in my album.

I went through Deception Pass four times...each close to maximum current and the Tomcat performed great. The biggest waves were following a cruiser through and the standing waves reminded me of some of the rapids on the Deschutes river in Oregon.

The most excitement for us came when the electronic controls failed to respond as we were sneaking through between Frost Island and Spencer Spit. Jordan had to fend off shore, but no marks on the boat thank goodness.

Other than that hiccup (and it might have been my fault) the Tomcat performed better than my expectations and averaged from 2.1 to 2.7mpg between 19 and 48mph.

We feel fortunate to have an awesome new C-Dory, but also to have found such a wonderful group of kind, knowledgeable and fun-loving boaters. See you soon,

Well, we are home but it was a bit of a white-knuckle trip yet again.

Thanks to Barry and Patti for a bang-up event and the usual fantastic weather (how DO you do it?). Thanks to Barry for updating the firmware on our C-80 and showing us for the second or third time how to reset the trip odometer!

Thanks to Peter and Tim for getting our S1000 autopilot going! Peter did the mechanical installation a few weeks ago, and Tim wired up the SeaTalk wires between the C80 and the S1000 at FH. Works like a charm!

We left FH and cruised over to Eagle Harbor on Cypress, set the hook, rafted up with Laurna Jo, and had a fine lunch on board.

Once again flat water all the way to Bellingham, running 18 - 20 knots, really shortens the trip up!

Met son Austin at Squalicum, had his birthday dinner (19th birthday) at the Bayside Cafe. Said our goodbyes and headed out about 7 pm.

Around Burlington, a car pulled along side, pointed and was waving me to the roadside, so I pulled over. Seems we had lost a rear seal on on of the hubs, and it was smoking pretty good. I can't win for losing with the hubs I guess. So we pulled the rim and tire, turned on the four-way flashers, and limped home at 50 mph with three wheels on the ground. Patty will be calling King Salmon Marine in Auburn and getting things repaired...oh well, what do they say? It's only money...
 
Well it was another great weekend. loved seeing and talking to everyone old faces and new.

Saturday Susan and I got bounced around on Hein bank with out a single bite. So it was really nice to get back to the dock early and enjoy the pot luck.

Barry great job again. Loved the prizes

Sunday we left to go look for whales but none of the whale boats were finding them so we stopped off for some ling fishing. I caught my first legal Ling in Washington, just over legal length.

we had to sling out of the water because we could not wait on the tide and Susan had a flight to catch. What a long day for her. breakfast in Friday harbor, diner in marysville and bed in San francisco
 
What a good time! Time to let everybody in on the weather secret (third year in a row) seems as though Neptune and Poseidon have an "arrangement" with Helios, Freyr and Eos that has something to do with the quality of the libations falling into the sea. We'll have good weather only as long as Pat and David continue to provide Snoqualmie Falls beer for the christenings (Thanks Rev Dave and Asst. Rev Jim). So, the weather depends on you guys (and thanks again for your much appreciated generosity)! We had over 40 boats, lots of new faces. Boats were there from as far as Florida, California, Oregon, Idaho, even a small (but high quality) Canadian contingent. The potluck was great as always. Patti and I would like to offer special thanks to those who brought tables we literally could not have done it without you. More thanks go to Roger Juunten our own Idaho potato guy and his lovely bride who came armed with a case of Idaho "Spud Bars" (a gooey chocolatey creation) that they helped the kids clustered around them give away after being suitably spun around. We'll have to make sure we have something like that for the kids at every potluck, a great new part of the event! We even had a spectacular intermission show featuring the wonder labradoodle and her slightly crazy, just barely OK, assistant/table. Thanks to Seashift Dave and AuKai Mark we had a stash of genuine C-Dory factory goodies to dole out at the Trivia giveaway. Patti and I kept a few back so we will have some for next year's gathering, they'll be even more rare and valuable then. David McKibben (Anna Leigh) and I were able to do lots of vessel safety checks and even found a few things that needed to be changed to help keep all of us safe at sea. Showing true C-Brats colors Ruth and Joe drove over from Bellingham and camped out just to be with us (Their brand new Ranger tug is being delivered today!!) :love :love :cake. Bob and Betsy had such a thirst for Snoqualmie Falls beer that they drove all the way from Bend, Oregon. Jeremy at Friday Harbor harbormaster's office set things up perfectly, provided a really big discount on moorage, got us all together, provided the "party barge" and was an all around invaluable honorary Brat. Kirk, the manager at West Marine gave us a discount, donated life vests and a boat hook for the trivia give-away and provided donuts and coffee to us Saturday morning. Thanks Kirk! Debbie, our host at the Downrigger whipped up yet another good dinner and gave us a place to share time together. Thanks to you as well. Patti and I thank everybody for your help and for being there.
 
Great to see the pics and feedback starting to flow. Looks like a great time for sure and I will have to track down that chocolate receipt for sure. Wonderful to see the children....or all ages having a great time around the boats.

Pat Anderson: Is your trailer the same one you have had since you bought it in 2005ish? Take a good look at the TRAILER BOATS June 2010 issue. A great, picture illustrated simple to follow 5 page article called "Rolling Stock."..... that all of us who have and use trailers should read. Great read. Glad to know you and Miss Patti made it back home OK.

Many thanks to Barry & Patti for putting together a wonderful CBGT. Much appreciated too was the opportunity to visit with our many C-Brat friends. Rob Moore who purchased our 19CD last August was there. Nice seeing our old CD again.

We came over by ferry and used this opportunity to explore the island. At American Camp I took photos of a baby fox...oh, what a cutie! Next trip back to Friday Harbor will be in our own boat! Yeah!!
