05/18 - 05/19 - Friday Harbor Gathering

Sshhh Jim, we are in deepest Whidbey searching for the local Smurfs. Who do you think makes them blue M&Ms after all. Now that you've let the cat out of the bag (Izzy we know that daddy Jim-Jim would neever put you in a bag!) we may have a hard time with the blue ones. Drat. We'll still be on the lookout.

So I was just thinking ( I know I should not ) about the group coming from John Wayne Marina on friday morning. Wind in going to be in the 10 to 20 knot range ( forcast can change a lot before then) out of the west. slack currentin the strait is around 8am then incoming until about 9am. If you leave on the last of the out going tide, say 7am, you will have the tide and the wind going the same way for most of the trip until about 9am. Two hours to cross is plenty of time. And its a small tide swing in the morning, less then half a foot, but after 9am the out going is a 5 ft swing ( small for here really. if you are across by 9am its only a .9 current max at cattle pass. So no sleeping in you guys.

Won't be needing a slip as we'll be boatless due to the tug being up For Sale (don't want to add any more hours).
See you all soon. Stay safe.

What happens when she sells Joe? You were very proud of her when you showed me around last summer.

Martin.

Tom,

Thanks for the concern. I have been looking at the weather too. Still hoping for some b-pressure stability, but it is a way from setting in. I am still thinking early (Leave John Wayne at 0530.) The weather I have been looking at (AccuWeather) is showing winds WSW @ 3-7. From 0530 until 0900 we have an almost flat tide. Slack at Cattle Pass is at 0935. The outlyer is the wind. And the earlier we leave the less it is most likely to be. I'm praying for calm, Barry is doing his weather thing and I will check the buoys at 0430, and the winds at Smith and Racer Rocks. With west winds, I would consider the turnaround at even with the Dungeness Light, with east winds, Protection Island.

The biggest pain is the press at the marina due to the short hali season.

...the negotiations between you and my agent broke down. There was no mention of ONLY blue M&Ms, the personal masseuse, or any discussion of having the Washington State Ferry re-routed during the performance...

Contract riders! Ahahahahahaha!....all good rockers need a hotel room to trash too!

Have fun. Hope the weather improves. See you all at La Connor....

That is just too darn funny. Unless Ruth is thinking if selling Joe! Ha
Ruthie?

Let's not give anyone ideas, Robbi! Some of us may find our "value" to be less than we thought. 8) Joe knows how to make a boat SHINE - a valuable commodity with this group.

Joan was quick to catch Roger and Janet's new nametags on the photo.

Things change.

You are so right! Joe makes everything shine! His smile goes a long way to cheer up all that are in eye and ear shot. One of the truly good guys.

Now, if he were just here with us to make this old car shine!

We finally decided to make the trip.
Oh good, the girls will have somebody to play with. Plus your girls will get to play with tiny Tristan.
Hey Tim, change of plan. The girls will be there Saturday afternoon after softball pics. Should still have plenty of time for them to all wear themselves out though.

Hey Robbi,

Plan A: Sell house, boat and commercial storage unit. House sold, so one down and two to go....didn't think I better add Joe to the Plan A list as he's a keeper. Since he's the true mariner in this family, I need him around just in case we end up with another boat in time for the 2014 Friday Harbor CBGT.

PS: Joe informed me that he has a line on a really good bathtub and two sticks to paddle it with...One stick is for the main propulsion, the other one is for the auxiliary....Got to keep an eye on this guy!

Had the most fun EVER today trying to solve problem of no power at ignition or for tilt on the Honda 90. Since Friday Harbor via 9.9hp would be more fun than I can take, will be spending the weekend on the boat while it is parked in the driveway. Once I get things ironed out will make a gathering later in the spring.
Have a great time everyone!!! :|

Steve and Kathy,

It'll be something easy, it will just take a while to find it, and you will still have time to make the pot luck.. 8)
