Being an artiste, I try to stay out of such things. My agent tells me that things are "nearly in place," just some details over minor things: the color of the M&Ms in the dressing room, stage accommodations, rights for the VH1 taping (apparently there is a bidding war with Austin City Limits), and re-routing the Washington State Ferry so it doesn't interfere with the performance.

I don't want to jinx things, but send me your ocarina list and I'll see what the musical arranger can do.

Best wishes,
the artist formerly known as Jim

OK, the cat's out of the bag (not that Izzy would ever be in a bag except to get that last little bit of good stuff :cat ), Maestro of old time Rock and Roll Jim, has agreed to be the musical accompaniment to our gourmet potluck at the Friday Harbor gathering, provided that, this year, he actually gets to eat some of that good stuff. It seems that last year the crowd was so eager to hear more of him that he only got scraps. Thanks Jim, We're working on the M&M's but the cat shaped minty ones are hard to find.

With Jolee's inner ear troubles seemingly on the mend from last summers Alaska cruise we are planning to make this Gathering. The pleasure of meeting some of the Brats who's post I've enjoyed so much over the last eight years & the scenic beauty is trumping my aversion for the high density of vehicles, boats & people.

Most likely will launch from Cornet Bay. On one of our returns from Alaska several years ago we stopped by EQ & while there checked out the parking & launch at Cornet Bay. It appeared to me the tow vehicle & trailer would have adequate security there. Am I wrong?

Hi Jay! It will be good to see you two again. Since there won't be any grizzly bears in close proximity, we will help you with how to approach the local wildlife: the weekend party boat renters, the large packs of ferryboat shufflers, and especially the cantankerous pasty-breasted snobby-top rag-baggers (they have been known to be very aggressive when in close proximity to small power boats). We can show you how to navigate the docks, leading you to the Friday Harbor ice cream shop; inside you will find delicacies to tempt your palate... certainly different from elk jerky and bison steaks... and you can choose a cup or a cone. If we can coax you to walk uptown, you can get up close and personal with some of the local humans... nothing to fear, really; they are interesting to watch; only known to be aggressive when they hear, "This isn't the way we do it back home."

Much like you with the bears, we lived amongst them all last summer and found them to be a delight.

The Port of Friday Harbor people are professional, friendly, and will do all they can to make you feel at home. They will keep you with all the other C-Dory people... not sure if that is to "contain" us or if they are concerned about our welfare (that safety in numbers thing)? Either way, it adds to the fun.

The charts of the area are good, hazards are well marked. The odds of you crashing down a rapids are slim, but we can introduce you to Cattle Pass... no doubt, you will enjoy it the most on a rapidly descending tide with a contrary wind - it will make you feel right at home.

See you in May. Probably best if we pass on the discussion of "scruffy mountain man and unkempt greasy boat captain."

Best wishes,
Jim

Jim, you had me laughing through your entire post. Oh , & it even had a measure of truth thrown in too.

Jolee has cruised the San Juan's with her brother in his sailboat & especially liked Friday Harbor, so she's happy about the prospect of returning.

Looking forward to seeing Joan & you in May,

Jay

Hi y' all, This is Lyle, Janda & Lindy. We think we would like to do Friday Harbor. What about our '16, See-Saw, making the trip to the island? We plan to be in Wash. at that time. We are heading west this year in April & May, so hope to see some of you all again. Lyle

Lyle and Janda,
When we had our 16' Cruiser we cruised all over the San Juan Islands, not a problem....just watch the weather. I'm certain that as the time approaches, if you ask, someone would be happy to "buddy boat" over with you.

Kim and I will be there, too.
Always a great time and and an event to look forward to. Looks like we will be shrimping, too that weekend with the enhanced season that was approved by WDFW.
Can't wait for May!

Paul, Patti and Sam,

Kate and I will ge going over and launch from Cooks Cove on Guemes Is. Radio for the C-Brats is 68. We will be going over on Friday, not yet sure what time. But we will look for you.

We should be back in the area by mid May so will see you all at Friday Harbour. Just in at Gila Bend at Augies rv for the night. Dry camping for $12. It is warm. 82F (sorry). Rig is running better than ever after the contribution to Yuma's auto economy. Probably Tucson tomorrow to visit family. George and Carolyn

CBrats are the greatest all across the country. As soon as we formalize our plans we'll let you all know. We definitely plan to come.
Lyle, Janda & Lindy( She wants to meet Baxter)

We will come up from California with our CD25, meet our friends in Kalama on the Columbia with their brand new Ranger tug 25 they have bought at the Seattle boat show and cruise together up to Friday Harbor to join all of you.

We just hope he will get his Ranger tug in time from the factory... javascript:emoticon(':?')

Regardless, we will be there for sure. javascript:emoticon(':D')

Oh, how I would love to be there. But, "one more year at the races." (That's what he said last year!) Anyway, the weekend of the Sonoma Historic car races has been changed from last years date of the first weekend in June to the same weekend as the Friday Harbor gathering. I'll be at Sears Point with a polishing rag in one hand and a tire gauge in the other. No salt air, no fresh shrimp, no Steamtrain, and no hanging out with the best boat people-ever!! We just received our acceptance letter yesterday. Guess I will just have to drink wine. Not bad duty, really.
