A change in the date of an out-of-state graduation ceremony means that Alma's Only will not be able to join in the Carolina Loop cruise. We're very disapointed, and will just have to send our best wishes for a smooth trip. Hopefully there will be a "second annual" where we will be able to come along.

With regrets.....

Alma's Only, sorry you won't be able to make the trip. Hopefully we will meet on another trip or gathering.

Richard

Tivo,

2 large shirts for us please and we could also order a couple extra if you don't reach the 20 mark. Looking forward to the trip.

TiVo, I see you are already positioned for the trip. Good move. By the way, it looks from your pictures that you have installed a permanent gas tank. What size is the tank? Also do you have any milage numbers for cruise and 6 knots?

Thanks, Richard

Mini Loopers,
Joan and I will be making the trip as noted before and when we get to Elizabeth City, we will stay the night ashore at http://www.elizabethcitybb.com/ . They are located 4 blocks from the city dock and still have a few rooms if you may be interested ($90 + tax).
As a side note, there will be festivities all day downtown for the annual potato festival that day, so some of the streets will be closed for the activities. Free french fries are provided "all day" as part of the draw.
Best regards,

I will update T shirt order spreadsheet next week and get some numbers out to folks. Right now I am sitting on my hotel porch in Grenada over looking Grand Anse Beach on the Caribbean and enduring the nice weather and taking a break from writing my report for work.

Sea Esta, my tank is semi-permanent. It does have a deck fill and a vent, but it is still only held in place by straps. It is a 13 Gal tank and I can go at planning speed about 60-65 safe miles (rule of thirds and all). At slow bell of 6kts, I could go a long way.

This sounds like a good first trip for me in unfamiliar waters. I am free May 20-24 and also have the time to haul the boat from Arizona back there. I am unsure of my skills and will feel good doing this with a group. I am a "single-handler" and trying mightily to figure everything out.
See you in May.
Amanda

Isn't it a bit warm in that part of the country in May? Like breathe and you sweat? How do you people keep cool or am I just wrong about the humidity and temperature?
Amanda

Amanda, May weather should be beautiful, cool nights and warm days. The humidity shouldn't have moved in yet. That said, we could get A: a freak warm muggy spell, or B: a freak cold spell where we have drizzly gray weather in the 50s. So if it helps, it can be anything from San Francisco style weather to Central America muggy and hot in May. But most likely nice.

Hello all,
I was going to join you on this trip, but I just found out that a very important person in my life will be graduating from colloege around the same dates. I hope to join you all another time.
Amanda

Richard, I have send you our information for resevations at Centerville Waterway Marina, Have you made reservations for any other stops on the trip? I was just wondering if we should make reservations at Elizabeth City (If they take reservations), Coinjock or the vistors center?

Ernie & Erma, I did not receive your information. Did you send me a private message?

The Dismal Swamp Visitor Center does not take reservations. If we need to they allow us to raft up so it should not be a problem.

Elizabeth City Mariners Wharf is on a first come basis and provides 48 hours free dockage. If the wind is not up we should be able to raft up here also. In addition the Pelican Marina is across the river which can be used as a backup if needed. The Pelican does take reservations and has a flat fee of $35/night. I was going to check with them tomorrow to see how many slips are available and how much boat traffic they expect for late May. I wil keep you informed on my findings.

Coinjock is a very long dock and I don't think we will have any problem for Sunday night.

Richard

I checked with Coinjock Marina again today and they would like to have the number of boats/size staying on May 22nd so they can put us all together. There is no deposit required, so I plan to give them the list of boats signed up on the C-Brat site. I will update them as changes occur to the signup
list or as I receive information from C-Brats directly. There is no need for anyone to make separate reservations at Coinjock.

For Elizabeth City marinas (Mariners Wharf, The Pelican, Riverside Boatworks) I will call them this week and get back to you on our options.

Richard

Steve, go to the top of this web page and select "event signup". Follow the prompts to become a member of the "Carolina Loop". You will then be on the list.
