06/04 - 06/06 - Chesapeake Bay CBGT

Well, we are going to try for another year.
We have reserved the Lankford Bay Marina for June 4, 5 & 6
for the "2010 C-Dory Gathering".

For those that have been to previous Chesapeake Gatherings, come back for another year to see old friends and make new.
For those that have not been to a C-Dory Gathering or new C-Dory owners , signup for a good time with fellow C-Dory owners.

The marina is on the beautiful Chester River near Rock Hall, Md.
Plan to stay Friday through Sunday. We are looking forward to getting together again.

TyBoo, would you please set up an event sign-up page and add us to the schedule on the home page. Thanks.

Check your calendars and mark off first weekend in June.

Doug & Anne

Hi Doug & Anne,
That is great that you all are trying to keep this Great Thing Going. You will do good with this as time gets closer, we will try to come back for another good time.

At least in June we should be warm :rainbow this year :D Those dates are awesome for me with regard to my work and I definitely plan on coming.

Hooray - this great event is back on! Many thanks, Doug and Anne, for getting this organized. We look forward to the gathering every year and to seeing everyone again this year at Lankford.

We should just about be dug out of the snow by then.

El, Bil, and Byrdman:
Thanks for the kind words.

My 17 year old daughter will be graduating from The Madeira School on June5,6,7...big deal as you can imagine.

I expect to be "temporarily" a non boater this summer...first time in 39 years without a boat, if BANJO sells.

Byrdman: The long awaited second album is not done..but in the planning stage. We have a ton of material.
We have been playing a lot of music lately...and my place, The Mainstay, is thriving...over 4,000 paid patrons last year for 52 concerts!

El, Bill, Byrdman: i love reading of your "exploits"...keep it up.

A humorous note: cleaning out some boxes and found my seamans "papers"..a laminated card, from 1957, qualifiying me for wiper, ordinary, and messman. I sailed on Sun Oil and Atlantic Refining tankers out of Marcus Hook, Pa...first trip was to Banyas , Syria!! Time really does fly...I can still feel the rumble of that old T-2 tanker.

I had a telephone call from someone in Virginia asking about the June gahtering...
Will there be an "event signup" posted here? I told the guy to look for that.

Thank you, Doug & Anne, for taking on the 2010 Chesapeake Bay gathering. I have been looking forward to the event for one full year. We received our C-Dory in May 2009 but could not make it to CB because that weekend preceded my wife Laura's last week of teaching. She is now happily retired.

We have been to the area in numerous occassions by foot and love it. We would definitely want to make it in June but since we are fairly new here, I have a few questions that hopefully someone may answer so that I can start planning. I went into the Lankford Bay Marina website and see that there is no ramp. 1. Is there a nearby ramp? 2. Where can we leave the rig parked? 3. Do we make our own reservations for a slip?

Thanks :smiled

PS. We are anxiously waiting for the boating season to get started. Yesterday I sat on Chiquitita's helm seat. Crazy!

Welcome aboard!

Lankford does not have a ramp but there is a public ramp about 1 mile down the road. We always have a couple of guys willing to help you launch. You can park your rig at the marina parking lot.

You have to call the marina and make reservations. Ask for John A. 410-778-1414

We will have a pot luck on Friday night. We have not planned the rest of the weekend yet. Trying to get an idea of how many will be coming this year.

I have asked the admin to set up an event signup page. Check for that and sign up.

More to come.

Hey,
Great start...already a bunch of registrations and it is still winter...

I was over at Lankford Bay yesterday and even in the dead of a damp cold winter day it is beatiful there.

Think summer.

Thanks Charlie, name tags are greatly appreciated. We would love to have you and Sally attend with or without the CAT.
It is always a good reunion with old friends.

Glad to see so many signed up already. With the weather we have had the last two months, I know everyone is looking forward to boating season. We are in the announcements and there is an event signup page. Make sure you sign up there and call the marina for reservations soon.

More to come later.

How do we sign up for this year's gathering on June 4-6 at Rock Hall?
We attended last year and are looking forward to this year.

Dan and Judy, go to the tab at the top of the page marked Event Signups and join up! Sorry I missed you last year, hope to make it this year!

I had an interesting idea for an activity at our gatherings after reading the postings here.

Kind of like a conference, we can have a "training afternoon" on one day. If people have a particular skill or have completed a particular modification to their boat, we can hold mini training sessions to spread the wealth of knowledge and ideas.

I'll admit I am hoping be on the recieving end as I am discovering I really need to know more about the electrical aspect of boat maintenance.

T-shirts: Anne asked me to coordinate the ordering for t-shirts this year. We plan to have the same design as last year in a medium blue color. I can get the ladies style, however they are on the small size and will be a somewhat lighter blue. For those that want t-shirts please provide your name or boat name, number of shirts and sizes. I will assume you want a regular style t-shirt unless you specifically ask for a ladies style.

Dick, if you like, I'll collect the information for the spreadsheet like I have done every year. I will start it soon. All you'll have to do is get the source, pick the design and give me a date you need to have an order by. A lot easier than spreading the info all over the place. I've got the attendees for the past 5 years with all the info and all I have to do is update it. I'll send out PMs to all that have signed up.

Do you have Microsoft Excel on your computer? If so I'll send you a copy of what I use.

Charlie

Charlie,

That sounds good. I have the source, design and color picked out. I will need the input by May 17th and Microsoft Excel will be fine. If you can give me an update on the numbers by the end of April.

Thanks, Dick

Put us down for two T-Shirts.

1 Large and 1 Medium.

Am looking forward to a good weekend. If you are thinking of coming to the Chesapeake Gathering and haven't signed up yet, please do so. Also call the Lankford Bay Marina and make slip reservations.

We always have a good time. Some things will be the same, Friday night pot luck supper, Saturday visit with other C-Dory boat owners and maybe a short cruise, Sunday send off breakfast.

Make sure you contact Captain's Cat so he can keep track of who is coming and when.

More exciting things to come.

I will post this weekend as to what I need from each attendee. For those that have attended before, I have all of your information except the "perishable" stuff, t-shirts, arrival days, etc. unless you bought a new boat  or are coming in a different one... I will ask that you respond via PM or e-mail, that way it will not clutter up this forum!

Thanks

Charlie
75degrees here today!!

Would a Ranger Tug be welcome to your rendezvous in June?
Full disclosure - we are the new Ranger Tug dealer for the Chesapeake.

Be honest! If we could attend, we'd do it in a tug.
