06/06 - 06/08 - Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering

We now have 13 on the signup list! I'll start collecting detailed info from each of you as I have in the past when we get back from SBS08. Heading out for that early tomorrow, back late Sunday night. I'll be able to use existing info from those that have attended one or more of the first three years as I never throw anything away! :?

Hi,
Just thought I'd offer to help out if I can with the gathering. Just drop me a line if there's anything I can do from here ! Looking forward to all the fun ,Take care all..Tracy

Hi Tracy,
I will always remember that truck hauling a C Dory...

Anyway, thanks for the offer. Something to think about...Doug and Anne were excited about the possibility of a poker run after being down there with you guys in NC at the gathering. We don't really have a clue about how this is done, so maybe you could chime in with some ideas on how to structure that?

I think we are looking forward to a great event...and talking about a five day cruise after the weekend...(maybe departing on Sunday about noon or so)...

Wow, here it is only January and we have 14 signed up already! Maybe it is the winter blues or the longing for summer...but it is surely a sign that The Annual Chesapeake Bay Gathering is fun, successful, laid back and user-friendly. Y'all come, ok?

Mobile East Marine organized the N.C. Poker Run, we just ran like everybody else in the pack, but it was fun. It would be nice if you could get C-Dory and the local dealer to supply door prizes, Yamaha and Honda also helped in N.C. Our Run was approx. 50miles with four checkpoints, each player gets an initialed playing card, they get there fifth card when they return to the Marina. If the Resturant's open we could work lunch on the Chester River into the Run. I believe they might have had some help from West Marine with the goody bags for all the boats that showed up. I believe Honda payed for the Catered Low Country Boil. We will probably get there on Thursday, so if we can help let us know. Larry

Tracy -

Thanks for the offer of help. I will contact Carrie at Mobile Marine and ask who she contacted and how. We could do something like giveaways except you had only 19 boats and we have over 30. Looks like this year might break the record.
Doug and I have already talked about the poker run and where we can set it up. 50 miles was a bit much! Ours may not emcompass that much mileage but will still be a challenge. There are many creeks and islands on the Chester River.
We are having a meeting next month.
Anyone is invited to add their 2 cents.

Is there a local CD-Dory Dealer who might sponsor the gathering, I thought a dealer sold a R-25 at last years gathering? Larry & Tracy

I"m going to talk to our local Rock Hall Ranger dealer and talk about some form of sponsorhip....i have already talked to the C Dory dealer in Annapolis and they are "considering" what they might be able to do for us.
Seems to us a natural for sponsorhip of some kind...we not only have the C Dory owners, but usually a whole group of people who are considering a purchase.

Enjoyed time on a cruise here in Seattle with Charlie and Sally on Friday.

We had a great day for it. Much fun last night and may local dishes and beverages brought in. Large time.

Looking forward to hearing news and updates from the factory tonight and seeing even more C-Brats.

See yall in Jun08. Truly looking forward to making this gathering.

What a blast the C-Brat folks are.

May put something together in the Nashville area in the Mar/Apr timeframe if others are up for some travel.

Here is a possible itinerary for the post-gathering trip on the Bay.

Leave by noon on Sunday, June 8..Destination: Patuxent River, St. Leonard's Creek..anchor out.

Monday: To Potomac River, and festive gathering at Charlie's place.

Tuesday: Depart Potomac , to Crisfield...marina

Wednesday: Depart Crisfield, to Annapolis...mooring out

Thursday: Depart Annapolis, to Baltimore...marina

Friday: Return to Lankford

None of this is set in stone...comments welcome...Nice mix of quiet and busy...

If the idea of a cruise is of interest to you, send a note here...no commitment, just interest.

Tom, from my place going to Crisfield, you've either got to go around or through Smith Island which would be much more interesting than Crisfield, closer too.... Just a recommendation. Reservations for slips would be a MUST!

Charlie

Charlie,

I have a long lasting love affair with Crisfield, but since the new condos, and the demise of the seafook packing houses, it is not the same..So..onward to Smith Island, and i agree, a more interesting spot, especially for non"Chesapeake people. What do you think of the rest of the plan...so many choices...

For those of you who plan on using my field to park rigs...i have space for about six..I'd rather not get into the booking business. I have promised two because of special circumstances...that leaves three, maybe four. So it is first come...but we have never had problems in the past finding places for rigs, so don't worry.

Tom, I'll handle the "booking". So far I've just got Byrdman, first come first served. Tell me who needs parking for a rig soon. 5 more left, depending on size. There are others, at the marina, etc but I don't know how many and you'll have to make your own arrangements.

As for 'onward to Smith Island', it's closer than Crisfield to here so it'll be an easier cruise, depending on WX. I've made it in an hour or so at 20kts from here. I'll post marina info when we nail down the itinerary.

I'll make up the attendance list this week and start posting it.

Thanks Charlie,

I just returned from checking my boat in the slip. It is blowing almost 50, in gusts, right now. White caps even in my little tucked away creek.

Thanks for taking care of the planning aspects. We can talk details of itineray much later. Just wanted to put some ideas out there for those who are not familiar with the Bay so they could check out the possible stops on line.

Had dinner last weekend at Harrison's on Tilghman Island, and talked with Cap'n Buddy, who is still going strong...quite a place, and maybe a possible stop for us for an evning of "old fashioned Eastern Shore cookery".

I have completed the new spreadsheet for 2008 at Langford Bay. It contains the names and info on all the boats/owners who have been there for any/all years 2005-2007.

The spreadsheet can be seen HERE in the Documents section. The names highlighted in Yellow are the ones who have already signed up in the Events section above. I will update the sheet as new boats/owners sign up and put information in there. I already have much of the info on your boat if you have been there in the past but would like you to verify what is there (hopefully, you have bought a new boat!). I also need the information on arrival, T-Shirts, Parking, Number attending, etc. There are some new boats/owners signed up on our list so I need all of the info from them. The list of what I need is as follows:

• Boat Name
• Boat Type, length and year
• Power? Make of engine(s) and HP
• Color (trim) of boat (I use this color on your nametag)
• Homeport (City/State)
• User Name if on C-Brat Site
• Number of people going to attend (Adults/kids/dogs/cats)
• Attendees First Names (for Name Tags)
• T-Shirts? S, M, L, XL, XXL (probably around $12,
You can change your mind up until about a week ahead of time
• Do you need to use the ramp to launch?
• Do you need a place to park your rig? Parking in Tom’s field is
Very limited so get your druthers in to me early (I've got Valkyrie and Byrdman already)
• What day will you arrive?
• What day will you depart
• Are you interested in a cruise (even part of it) down the Bay
After the gathering? Tom is managing the itinerary, not a commitment, just an expression of interest.
• Do you want a USCG Vessel Safety Check (complimentary from USCG Aux)
• Do you have Marina Reservations?
• Any notes/comments you want by your line of info?

None of this info is locked in concrete until about a week before the gathering but I'd like to start now. If your plans change, just let me know!

I know that’s a lot of info but I have most of it for those that have attended In the past except for current info for this year. Please PM or E-mail me the answers So we don’t take up too much space on the site!

 We want to know what color of T-shirts you all will have this year ? Then we will decide if we want the shirts. Thanks..Tracy :smiled

Picky, picky, picky. You can always paint the boat!!

I'm sure they haven't even thought about that yet. I'd hate to add multiple colors to the choices....

Tom?

8) Picky ? Did you say I'm PICKY ? LOL I can honestly say that it was not ME that wanted to know the color this time ! It was Larry that put me up to asking what the color was going to be ! :D I am curious to see what color it will be but I was willing to just order them and be surprised.. lol. Take care Charlie !
Thanks.. Tracy 8)

We are plannning to meet on details soon. No decision on T shirt color, but not white.

We will, most likely, try to avoid previous colors just for variety.
