07/15 - 07/17 - Bellingham C-Brat Gathering

we will be coming in late on friday afternoon and all the good spots will be taken. So you guys decide who wants me to raft to them and hang a sign out ok :lol:
 
On a positive note, this summer is her last semester EVER. She will receive her BSN (Bachelor's in Science Nursing {not bulls**t in Nursing< JD} ) as of August 9th! FINALLY!!!!

It may be the end until she goes for her MSN. I am too close to retirement to think about getting my BSN or MSN and I have been doing this for 20 years. More power to her!
 
Oh, trust me...she's D.O.N.E. w/ school. :lol: She went back when she was 35 and six loooong yrs later she's done what she wanted to do. She's looking forward to ~20 yr career now and the BSN will open up more doors career-wise than her Associates R.N. did. But she's told me in no uncertain terms; no more school. I teased her "...you've gone this far, you might as well go for a P.A. degree." ...I'm surprised I'm still alive after the look she gave me... :lol:
 
Okay, another memory lapse....I forgot about the name tags.....Nearly everyone attending the B'Ham CBGT this weekend has been spending time together for many years and we all know each other but we will have some new attendees so PLEASE BRING YOUR NAME TAG IF YOU HAVE ONE. I will make one for you if you don't have one :D
 
I got a late start. Had planned on launching in Olympia at 10am and arriving in BH around 7pm. It was 11am when I launched and as I was leaving the dock there was a couple of guys in a new to them (their first boat) taking on water and wasn't sure what to do. I gave them a hand getting back to the dock and loaded on their trailer. The boat had 18" of water in the cabin by the time we got it out of the water. It was one o'clock by then so I had to put the pedel to the metal in order to make BH before dark. I had a little of everything in the way of weather, but generally it was not too bad and just a little over 6 & 1/2 hours later I was in Bellingham. Not bad for my 16/18 foot C-Dory. This is the first time it has been in the water since Byrdman and I was in it three years ago. it is really nice and quiet here just after midnight. Everyone is in bed except me and the waterfoul.

So, Joe and Ruth had pizza for all of us last night, and the rain held off until we had downed the last slice! Nice visit with the Triton crew, Scott Boysen and Jeff and John LIndhout, seen walking about with 22s of Snoqualmie Wildcat! Then the rain started in earnest. Rained all night. Comfortable in our newly opened up vee-berth, slept like a rock, poured through the night (Patty tells me). Light sprinkles through the pastry and coffee that Joe and Ruth once again provided this morning, Larry Q has his 10x10 rain canopy set up, all good! Folks are out milling around on P-dock socializing. The rain seems to be picking up a bit but nobody seems to mind! Room as David says for maybe 1 more boat on each end of the dock, then we start rafting. It is remarkably mild here for February!
 
It has been quite a while since I made it up north to see all you folks. In looking over the signup list I see names of a lot of friends I would like to see again and some new names I would like to meet. Whatever you do, don't stop having these dock parties because the TyBoo is going to get back into it soon.

It's raining here, too. Wish I could be in your rain instead. My little Jamie, however, is in the sunshine in Spain. Today they go for a week long vacation on a cape between Alicante and Valencia in Spain on the Mediterranean Sea. Maybe Ruth and Joe can set up a CBGT over there!

I'm planning on leaving here (EQ) late this afternoon (we close at 4 but I'll leave earlier if I can). I'm going to have to drive up due to logistics but I'm looking forward to it.

All quiet on the western front this evening. Only thing stiring is me and the birds. As Pat said not a bad day for Feburary but that was earlier in the day. This afternoon we had a little of everything; rain, lighnting/thunder, sun (not sure what that was) and wind but we didn't get any snow. With all that everybody had a great time and during one of the downpours many of us had a chance to develope a close relationship when everyone tried to get under a ten by ten canopy. If you missed this gathering, too bad, you missed a great gathering.

Another great gathering. Joe and Ruth again went out of there way to make everyone feel welcome and comfortable. It pains me to see them bow out of the host role but we all can understand. Pizza Friday night, pot luck on Saturday, farmers market and all the BS on the dock, what fun.
I left at 06:00 since I had to work Sunday afternoon. Bellingham Bay was flat but when I got to the entrance to the Swinomish Channel the fog came in heavy. I plodded along at 4 knots when I heard a horn go off and see a couple on a trawler tied to one of the channel markers. There radar was not working and they did not have a GPS and wanted to follow me down the channel. I told them since I was pulling into Twin Bridges they might want to stay put till the fog cleared. When I pulled away I saw them pull in behind me. When I turned off to Twin Bridges they kept going. Did not feel comfortable with this but what can you do.
Boat cleaned up and home by 11:00, now off to work till next time.

Ruth and Joe, Thank you! Not just for this wonderful gathering but for all the work you have done over the last six years you have hosted the Bellingham gathering. We know you are still brats and that your heart is with us despite getting the BIG boat :) We had a great time, enjoyed the farmer's market and the trip to the marine salvage store. Most of all we enjoyed spending time with everybody (and the pizza!)
