07/20 - 07/22 - Bellingham, WA

Ruth & Joe, El & Bill et al,

You all are really great! We are so sorry you missed out on the dessert, :cake but just to let you know, I did your share and it was wonderful. Now about the drive, I would do it in a heartbeat but Deena is having so much trouble with the knee thing, that even walking the dock is pretty much out. We leave today for the Doctors visit. Sure would rather be touring the new CD-29 and sharing the solar lites and such. You all have a great time, WE ARE MISSING YOU :cry

Really looking forward to Squim Bay in Sept, :rainbow

Lots of boats.. nice conversations with friendly folks. The rafting-up has begun on the docks, but there's room for more. It is great to be able to put faces with all the names (and Ruth even provided name tags). We had supper with 4 new friends at our table and had a great evening. I finally got to meet Dusty! Having fun and not even burning any fuel!

Best wishes,
Jim B.

Molly was happy that all these people came "just to meet her."

Ruth and Joe,

You did it again! Great gathering of the clan, and a real thrill for me to put faces on so many familiar names on the Brat site. Finally got to meet the passengers on Molly's boat - way cool! And Don, and, and. I'm blessed to have been able to meet so many!!

Excellent dinner too, but wish I could have walked the dock to meet the whole gang.

Thanks so much!!

Dusty

A big hello to all the C-Brats at Bellingham - too bad I couldn't make it. I will be launching out of Everett in the early AM tomorrow (Sun) and will be fishing Possession, Edmonds and Pt. No Point. If some of you are traveling that way, give me a holler - I monitor, 16, 68 and 69 so be sure to call out the channel you're on.

Somebody missing two folding chairs (or two people missing one each, they don't match) from the Saturday night potluck? They ended up in my Expedition...somebody was a bit too helpful when it started raining!

I'm glad you fessed up Pat, we've been talking about you about how you're a chair stealer.

Actually, the chairs belong to Dave "Oldgrowth". I'm sure he'll chime in very soon.

BTW, we still have 5 boats left on the Bellingham dock. Along with C-Dancer, there's C-Voyager, C-ya, Sea Shift and unnamed CD-25, user name Woodduck.

It was another successful gathering, except for the soggy weather that is. It was great seeing old faces and meeting new ones. Kudos to Ruth and Joe (R-Matey) on another job well done.

What a great gathering. Ruth and Joe did another great job setting up this gathering and keeping it running smoothly. Thank You Ruth and Joe.

The weather was a little breezy and wet but did not seem to dampen anyone’s enthusiasm.

I am still sitting at the Bellingham Marina because of small craft warnings this morning. Larry Q and I came to the gathering by boat from Olympia and did not want to fight 33 knot winds with 3 to 5 foot wind waves all the way back to Olympia. We will leave Monday morning at 7 AM with Peter (C-Dancer) joining us to the Seattle area.

This was the maiden voyage for the stretched C-Voyager and I am very happy with her performance and handling.

What a beautiful job Dave has done with C-Voyager. Those custom made gas tanks (he made them himself) are amazing. (I'll bet you can't even find them!) Congratulations on a job well done. It was a real pleasure to visit with everyone and see "Just Be Nice" in action. Thanks Ruth and Joe.

Ruth and Joe,

As always, you guys are the BEST.

Sorry our visit was so short but still happy to have met many friends old and new.
Not sorry to have missed Sunday morning. Looked out of the window and that was enough.

Still on plan to join up with the Gulf gang about Thursday/Friday in Ganges and play it by ear from there.

Many Thanks to Ruth and Joe for their help in putting this event together and a special thanks to the person who installed the change machine up by the shower house too!!! :thup :teeth

I really enjoyed all the laughs and fun with my NW C-Brats once again. I look forward to my return to the area in the mid August timeframe...maybe some of us can get together on the water then. :smiled :idea

Let's see if we can get Ruth to tear up. Okay, everybody at once now..... BIG HUG to Ruth. Yeah Joe, you too, thanks for going a long with Ruth.

Thank you to Shelly and Lyle for the tasty cherries and for sharing their starboard with me after the dinner.

Ruth and Joe, Thanks for a great time. You two went way beyond the call to make this gathering one for the books!!!
Also, Thanks for putting out the welcome mat at your home for Roz and me. :love

Thanks to all who were there for another special C-Brat gathering.

And a huge thanks to The Squalicum Yacht Club :beer :beer

Ruth and Joe, thanks for the warm welcome, the little plaque and the great hugs. Special thanks to Reverend Dave and the folks at the Birch Bay "Senior Center." Wish I could have been there to see the monster '29 but maybe I'll spot it tomorrow since I'm swinging by the factory before heading for Seatac and home. It was great fun meeting folk I had only read about and typed at, like Brock, Oldgrowth, DaveM and most especially that C-Brat (and Naval) legend, ol' "Dusty." Meeting Dusty completed one of my major goals for this trip.

Too bad Mike couldn't make it. I even rented a Dodge in his honor. Maybe at SBS....

Take care, hope to see y'all at SBS once again or maybe on a Lake Powell trip. Rumor has it that Rana Verde Chris might be pursuaded to set up one in late September.

Okay, Dave! That did it! After reading all these great posts I am sitting here getting weepy enough that I almost can't see the screen in front of me.

We sure have a lot of folks to THANK and we have to start with Lee and Ronalee Kincaid (owner of the 25 CD "ORAYO") who opened the doors of the Squalicum Yacht Club for all of us. You folks are an absolute blessing :thup :love :thup

To Bill and Kim of Cresent City, CA....owners of SLOW-N-EASY, our thanks for sending up the plaques that were so deeply appreciated by everyone. Do hope that Bellingham will be a destination for you someday :rose :rose

DA NAG wasn't here this year to make lattes so we brought down some coffee and rolls. We insisted that there wasn't any need for a contribution but to those who would not take NO for an answer, we deeply appreciate your generosity :gift And let's not forget 'Sneaky Pete"...no not that one that the little kids watch on TV but the one who placed $$ in my red tool box. That was certainly a surprise :o Thank you!

Rev. Dave, Thanks for making the christenings an absolute delight.

Dusty, thanks for keeping us in such good humor at the dinner table Friday evening. Not to mention Byrdman's joke about the first and second place blue and red ribbons.

Not only did we make the effort but we deeply appreciate how everyone made plans for this event like adjusting their schedules, traveling long distances, filling their gas tank, suppying food and drink and last but not least.......sticking out their lower lip to catch the raindrops.

YOU ARE ALL THE GREATEST :thup :thup

OUR THANKS TO ALL OF YOU :rose :love :rose

Thank you Ruth and Joe....you folks are fantastic!

Thanks to David of Anna Leigh, "Sea Shift" is now "sporting' its' '07 Coast Guard vessel inspection sticker.

Ron, thank you for placing me in the helm seat of your R '25 Tug! That is one fine vessel to pilot!

It was great to again visit with C-Brats I've known in person before and to meet new C-Brats in person.

David ("Oldgrowth") Your "stretched" 16' cruiser looks great!

For those of you that were not around for the Sunday morning christenings..............I had attempted to arrange the traditional Bellingham Gathering U. S. Coast Guard helicopter "fly by" during the christenings but due to the inclement weather was unable to pull that one off... :wink ....however, I do wish to thank the management of the Burlington Northern Railroad for accomodating us with a "drive by" train with its' whistle blaring through the misty morning as we were christening the last vessel... :smiled
