08/06 - 08/08 - British Columbia

The potluck is always a genuine "Pot-Luck" you take whatever is offered. So there is no really planned food part of the event. Just bring enough of whatever for about 8-10 people and enjoy.

Hi Dan bring what you can of that stuff makes it super easy for a potluck. Any banner we can put up really makes us stand out too. And well said Barry pot lucks are real pot lucks, bring what you have or what you like best. Brats are easy to please. There always seems to be a great variety and if all we have are deserts well that's ok too. Life's short go for the desert first. Looking forward to it see you all there. George

We are not going to be able to make it either. Have to supervise major bathroom remodel. We are planning to cruise closer to home during the same time frame, if all goes well. Friday Harbor, Lopez, Deer Harbor, etc. We plan to be out for a few days in the Aug 5-12 timeframe. Anyone else going to be in that area then?

Just as a side note, the Anacortes Art Festival is Aug 6-8. We may be attend, especially if we know other Brats will be there. Let me know.

Warren

Barry & Warren, Darn! Sorry we won't see you there.

If anyone coming to this CBGT does not have a name tag from a previous event and would like them for you and your crew, please PM or e-mail me with your names, boat name, type and color of your boat and you homeport or hometown.

We may be up that way as early as 8/5. See you all there.

Thanks for the assist Roger, I appreciate it. Looking forward to seeing all of you next week. Sorry to hear you won"t make it Warren but we"ll cross paths out there. I have the heat turned down a bit from last year only want it to be high 70's low 80's not 95 something like '09. Keep fingers crossed. Will be launching Ladysmith thursday eve and overnite at Wallace or may go all the way to Montague. See you all soon, be safe out there, George

No problem George,

We will be leaving fairly early tomorrow for Stuart Island and on to Montague Friday.

So this is a last call to anyone who would like name badges for the Montague CBGT. E-mail me with names, boat name, boat type and color and homeport.

Jamie & Denise, I still need your last name. Roger J. is your wife coming along?

The weather pattern, for those crossing the Straits, has been calm in the AM but foggy. Wind picking up a bit in the PM but clearing. Take your choice!

See you all there.

Roger

Sorry to say we must add our names to No Show list for Montigue. We have been out on the boat since the Bellingham CBGT and were just worn out. All this relaxing is hard work. So we cut our vacation short.
Sorry to miss all the good C-Brats, but Ann & I did spend an afternoon in Montigue some time last week. I can't remember what day it was. To tell the truth, I'm not sure what day this is.
Oh well, have fun on the hippy bus.

sorry to hear Terry we'll miss you guys. Glad you had a good trip out. Cruising is hard work, all that napping and navigating and eating. I will see you out there somewhere, George

George and other fellow C-Brats,

I have been trying to make this CBGT work for me and my family, but I just can't. Last minute issues and obligations have overwhelmed us. I even have reservations in the marina that I'll need to cancel.

My apologies to everyone.

Sorry I am going to miss this one too. Really wanted to make this trip. Several good reasons, but work is the main reason not to. Still have to do it when it is there.

You all have a great time.

Sorry George.

Well we had some drop off of attendees but we had a really great time. 8 boats came for the event or of parts of and we had wind (a bit too much) and rain (a bit tooo much) but good times and food and great camaraderie. We took the crazy hippy bus up to the Hummingbird pub and were treated to the zany pole dancing and non stop chatter of the driver. (I hesitate to call him driver as his hands are rarely near the wheel. Mostly for the corners After the event Dreamer, Madi's Bunk and C-Renity moved out as a pod thru the fog following Roger and Janet's radar track over to Thetis Island for another wonderful and dry evening.
Next up is Sequim in September. George

We had a great time on the way over. left Friday after noon and fished our way to deer harbor where we stayed the night at the dock. left the next morning to cross over to pender to clear customs. Guy that was at the customs phone next to me turns and ask " where am i?, they want to know where i am" I tell him and then say " let me know when you are leaving so I can get a head start " The third guy at the phone thought it was funny as hell.

We anchored up a 100 yards from the dock and dinghy-ed in for every thing. the pot luck was great , if you like sausage that is.

Sunday we went for a walk around the point at the park just in time to see a 255, 16, and a 23 all in a line headed north. did not have the camera on me sad to say.

the sail boaters at the end of the dock were impressed with us all having the same boats and doing the pot luck, which they had to walk Thur to get to there boat. the next morning is c-brat tradition we all went to breakfast together. when the lady from the sail boat came in and say all 11 of use sitting together she said : your like a biomass all together"

We where sorry to miss Joe and Ruth, told Susan that they are dodging her, not me just her.

the weather cleared long enough on Saturday to have the pot luck on the dock. Saturday was just wonderful weather on the way back. nice smooth ride the whole back. more fishing and on the trailer by 930 last night.

Hi Mike I have some photos and Ruth took a bunch, there are some more I'm sure. i'll see if I can up load them tomorrow. I'll need a hand from a kid at work as my wife was the techie in the family, thanks for the album, George

Hey, George! Thanks so much for putting this BC CBGT together. I just love being up there in my homeland and we had a great time. Sure wish that we could have stayed longer.

Nice to have met Denise and Jaime. Hope we get ot see you again sometime. Roger and Janet, we wish we'd gotten over to visit with you. Don't know where the time went but I'm hoping we can somehow see you next month? Dan and Tanya, you two are wonderful! Lynn, we didn't know that Ken had such a great sense of humor. We should ALL get a set of those teeth. Can't you all see it now with ALL of us smiling at our waiter/waitress! Nice seeing Greg & Cindy of Gig Harbor and their beautiful little girl. Tom and Susan, so sorry we missed you but no doubt we'll see you again soon.

Going home from Montague we went through Active Pass. Been through there many times in the C-Dory but this time it was ripping pretty good and we were in between two BC Ferries. What a ride! Joe told me to just hang on that we'd be through all of THIS is a few minutes. I don't know whether I want to say "Whe-e-e, what a ride" or "Whew, I'm so grateful that's over"...guess a little bit of both!

Checked in at Point Roberts and it was raining really hard! I can say that I had my hair washed by rain water while I was calling Customs from their landline phone. Other than poor visibility and Native American fishing nets on the way south from Point Roberts, the water was pretty good, even Bellingham Bay.

Take care everyone and thanks for another CBGT adventure.
