08/18 - 08/20 - Bellingham, WA

Forget the inflatable! Cindie got her wish and we bought a new boat this week so that is what will come up north for the weekend. Don't worry, Ari is safe in the boat shed with her new little buddy now Christened KIKI, after a beloved cat in our past.

Its a 12ft Sorensen cat with a 2 stroke 25 and center console. For crabbing and generally messing around in.

That's awesome Greg and Cindie, congrats, nice little boats. Guess we know who will be winning the Dinghy Race to Fairhaven now :wink

Should be warm this weekend, but not too hot is what I'm hearing. I hope to arrive by 2 p.m. Friday, after the Swinomish Channel bridge opens at 12:15 p.m. that afternoon.
Meanwhile, Greg and Cindie, you gotta like folks who name their boat after a feline friend.

We are on the road. Bellingham bound. Staying at Seven Feathers RV on I5 south of Roseburg OR. FYI...they are boat friendly. We are staying on Reefmadness. See you soon.

Brock,

We just got back from a 6 day trip to Nootka Sound, trailering C-Dancer up north. Furthermore Caryn is home for the first time after nearly a month. Soooo, what im trying to say is we probably won't bring C-Dancer up to Bellingham but are planning on joining the group at Anthony's for the Saturday dinner.

We're looking forward to seeing everyone!

My schedule just changed and I mentioned the Bellingham CDGT to Beth this morning. Looks like we will be there. Now I just have to figure out how. Flat calm and beautiful this morning. Cruising the whole way is possible, I just need to check the weather and sign up.

Any reason to bring a crab pot or fishing pole?

Im looking for a 16' cruiser . any chance there will be one this weekend at your gathering?

I'm planning on being there and entering the dinghy race. 16' and 50 hp still qualifies as a dinghy, right? It looks like Beth will drive, so we will have a car for shuttling to the C Dory tour.

Wind forecast shows nothing over 10 mph for the entire weekend. Perfect, if it's accurate. Like most forecast sites, I only found ones where the Bellingham Bay forecast is simply a repeat of the local airport forecast 4 miles away.

Peter and Caryn, good to hear you can join us even after being away so long. I want to hear about your trip to Nootka Sound.
Mark and Beth, nice to have you drive/boat in, too. You amaze me with what you do and the places you travel in your 16' Cruiser. Your long trip north will be fun, and if you do it I wish you calm water. I'll leave crab pots and fishing poles to the folks who know. But I do know your Limpit doesn't qualify as a dinghy.
Fred, three weeks in the Broughtons? You dog! I'm happy for you, and I gotta hear about your trip as well. Delighted you and Robbin can join us at Anthony's Saturday at a relatively early 4:30 p.m.
Todd, there will indeed be a 16' Cruiser tied up among the flotilla, but that beloved craft is not for sale. My 16' Angler is, however.
And Bellinghamsters, I have breaking news. Our Creator also will join us. Not that one. The one who I think in early 2002 took charge of this website and as it's Administrator shaped it into the world-class forum we now enjoy. Bill (Da Nag) will arrive with wife Denise in a city bus-sized motor home, and tells me he'll need VIP treatment. Not a surprise, since he's always been high-maintenance. You'll recall that our other Creator, Oregon's Tyboo Mike, rolled into Bellingham last year in a late model black Corvette. It was sure good to see you, Mike.

In an embarrassing situation like this I just ask, what would Basil Fawlty do?
Sorry! Sorry! he'd immediately inject, then give a perfectly plausible excuse. Dana, if you're reading this, Basil is really sorry for calling you Denise. Man, getting old is no picnic.

We have arrived! Snagged the last open space on P dock last evening. The signs are posted for the Brat gathering parking on Friday.
While we were launching, a motor home towing a 22 CDory arrived. I walked back up to the parking area to meet George from Colorado on II Be Free. He was hanging for sale signs on his boat. Seems he had been out cruising for a month and just pulled his boat. He won't be in the water, but would like to join the gathering at Anthony's. So....a nice little 22 is available. I have no details.
It is beautiful on the dock this morning. See everyone soon.

Gene, thank you for the advance report. I'm glad you and Margaret made that long journey safely.
How do people feel about Pizza Hut pizzas for Friday night on the dock?

I was planning to arrive late tonight but sounds like docks are already full until Friday? So I may overnight somewhere else and arrive Friday instead.

One hour should be plenty for the tour. It's not all that big. Although I could spend a day just sitting in there smelling the fresh fiberglass and looking at boats.

Pizza Friday sounds good.
