09/09 - 09/11 - Sequim Bay Gathering

I was soooooo looking forward to the Armstrong tour but one of the guys at work has a wife in labor, and we're already short on the night shift this week, so we'll miss the tour. This work thing is seriously interfering with boating time.

See you folks at the dock Saturday morning. Flat seas, sunshine and salmon to be caught!

Hi - We asked if we could come to the Sequim Bay gathering on Saturday, to learn about C-Brats and C-Dories. If it's OK for us to join the potluck, we would love that. We can even bring some Guiness. Should we just show up in the afternoon, or do you have a suggestion for times? Thank you. Freda

Sorry to have to post here that Marinaut 215 and I won't be able to make it. I waited until the last minute to decide and post but the reality in my life right now is that I can't afford to give up a day on the new Marinaut we're building now. I need it finished by this coming Friday and I've got folks working on the boat with me that need to interface with me.

I do plan to get to many more functions over the coming years, it's time to back off a bit and start enjoying being on the water again. See y'all soon.

Freddie - many of us are at the dock now. Just show up anytime, the earlier the better. Guinness sounds good, you can bring a little dish for the pot luck. It will be at John Wayne Marina at 5pm. There are many different C-Dorys here for you to look at. Most of us here would be happy to take you out for a demo ride.

Well, we tried to make it. Had to work late last night. Got up early this am only to blow a tire on the pick-up. I was due for tires anyway but just bad timing. Glad Barry was able to appease the weather Gods. Maybe he can do it again next year. Hope everone has a safe and super fun weekend.

Yes, Karl. I've been @ work during the fantastic stretch of weather we've had this week. I'd rather have been in the boat @ the dock than sweating in body armor. :(

Ok, so we dove to the boating event. Non-the-less it was a fine time. What an extraordinary, warm and hospitable group. Thank you all. It was our pleasure for the invite. The moon was full, the waters calm and the breeze laden with the aroma that recalls the time of such great moments. It's is only we who can seise the day as the journey is the destination.

The C-Brats will Never forget!

We hade agreat time. Got a late start ut made the run from laz connor on glass smooth seas in just under two hours. Great ride. Loved tto visit with everyone. We were last off the dock at two aznd had a silver, small, in the boat by 4. Now in Friday harbor cooking salmon peso with ravllos. Sure does not suck.

Dreamer was the last one out of the marina by trailer at 1600 Sunday. Pretty bushed tonight but planning our next outing.

Great seeing everyone, Susan E, C-Ya, Sleepy-C, Foggy Dew. Capital Sea, C-Renity, C-Voyager, Katana, In-Cahoots and the still unnamed "Crazy Frazey" boat.

Lots of folks came by car, Mike & Jan Morgan (CD-19 C-Esta) and Chris & Peggy Williams (CD-22A Sea Major). Other non-owners came and looked and hopefully, will be owners by next year.

Sorry to miss seeing those hampered by mechanical issues. Next year! Hope those all get worked out.

The moving CBGT has moved to Friday Harbor with In-Cahoots, Susan E and Anna Leigh on H dock and Charlie (CAW) hoping to figure out what went BANG in his E-Tec.

See you on the water :thup

Roger

Thanks again everyone...Amy, Teddi and I had a great time!

Talked with Joe and we all are home safe. Time for bed and back to work again.

John, Amy, and Teddi, I'm thinking that I saw you towing south on I-5 just North of Vancouver, Wa. (no name on the boat) at about 1:30 this afternoon. Shortly after, I saw another C-Dory about a half hour behind you. It had a name but I couldn't read it cause I was heading North at about 75 mph and I'm sure they were cruising the speed limit in the opposite direction.. (Spent the weekend in Clackamus for a CGAUX meeting).

So....was it you? and who was behind you?

Had a great trip and it was great to see everyone again. On Sunday as we were headed out to the lighthouse, we noted a few local fishermen off the spit and joined in. Managed to catch a hatchery coho. Not a lunker but we will be eating salmon for dinner.
Look forward to seeing all of you along the way. Thanks again to our leaders and planners!!

It was nice to meet some new folks and the weather was fantastic. As always, the potluck was a hit. Donna even scored a set of binos in the raffle.

Thanks to everyone for a great time.

A Great Gathering with a great bunch of people.

Thank you Roger, Janet and Harvey for putting on a great Get Together. We could not have asked for better weather. It was perfect.

John Frazey, Teddi and I went to the Wooden Boat Festival at Port Townsend Saturday afternoon and cruised around admiring the wooden boats. We did get chased out of the Point Hudson Facility but did get some great pictures of some impressive old wooden boats.

I left about 8am Sunday and on the way back to Olympia I saw nine Ranger Tugs. Six heading north between just south of Port Townsend and the South end of Whidbey Island. I honked and waved thinking one could be Joe and Ruth. Did not see the names of any of the boats. Another Ranger Tug was just east of Kingston and one north of Blake Island. I saw a 19 C-Dory here also. The last Ranger Tug was spotted just south of McNeil Island.

I traveled 110 miles from Olympia to the gathering and used 14 gallons of gas averaging 18mph taking a little under six hours to make the trip and got 5.5mpg. That speaks well for the C-Dory and those looking to buy one that made the gathering. However do not overlook the Marinaut sold by Lesat EQ Marine.

Will we have a photo album for this gathering?

I was fly fishing on the beach just south of the Tacoma Narrows Bridges yesterday afternoon. I saw 2 C-Dorys, and 5 Ranger Tugs, one was a 21 footer. I think I saw OldGrowth Dave going south. Dave, what time did you go under the bridges?
