Yesterday afternoon the whole gang went up to Forgotten Canyon. Anchorages were tight - I think somewhat due to the low water - but we all managed to squeeze into a sliver of beach thanks to our "boat valets." That is, Hunky Dory Jay and Voyager Jody went in with their Mokais and then with Jody on shore and Jay in the water we could each come in one at a time and cut power at which point they would pull our boats in and help us get settled (not that everyone needed this, but it was sure helpful for some :thup). There was a hump right in front of the beach that was about a foot deep.
(Side note: I put the first scratch in my boat getting into my spot in Iceberg the other night. Never thought it would be caused by a tree!)
Our spot was a nice semi-circle of beach in a sheltered place, so it was a relaxing evening. Some of us swam, others "SUP'ed," and a few hiked up to Defiance House. After dinners aboard our individual boats, we had a nice group fire on the beach (thanks to Hunky Dory and Rana Verde who brought firewood). We managed to stay up until the moonlight crept onto the high walls, but not all the way until moonrise. It was a great evening of shared company.
This morning/noon, the group started to break up. Voyager, Hunky Dory, Discovery, and Rana Verde headed for home (i.e. Bullfrog and Wahweap respectively); C-Swell, Valkyrie, and Bossa Nova were gone by the time I emerged but I'm not sure where to; See-Saw headed for Annie's Canyon. I think they are going to spend another day or so on the lake. Secret of Life has some open-ended time and went up-lake from Forgotten. We also have more time and we're bound for Annie's Canyon to see if we can find See-Saw and to find a spot to hunker down for the blow that's forecast to start tomorrow late morning and last until late Thursday night. If we don't find something there, we'll probably head back to Iceberg, just because we know it from the other day. We hope to meet up with Secret of Life later in the week (but it's easy to miss each other here on the lake, with very limited VHF reception).
I've only been here once before (last fall, not on my boat), but my limited knowledge from then is somewhat cancelled out by the fact that the water is 30' lower. It's weird to see the same places but this different!
Sorry to not upload any photos, but this connection is pretty slow. It's fun to at least connect though. I wish everyone had been here.

PS: So far everything on the boat is working pretty well. Whew, since I had so many systems all the way apart, and only a very short trip before this big one. Just a few small things, really. First is that my main engine resumed its "sinking" behavior last night. Boo! The boat seems to run best with it all the way down, so that's fine. And I can (so far) trim it up to run in shallow water position. However it will sink down after about an hour..... so I'll have to keep that in mind at shore spots (and then get it repaired after this trip).
Otherwise it's mostly "little" things like "I'd like to add a hook here," or "this cooler is a pain since blocks of ice won't fit into it," or "how the heck do I get the depth numbers to show up in something bigger than infinitesimal size!?" But mostly it's just super fun and I love this boat

More later - must go find snug anchorage now.
