09/24 - 09/26 - North Carolina, 4th Annual

Sounds good to us Tracy. Pam mentioned earlier today that is has been quite a while since we last visited Steamer's.

We'll bring a roaster full of baked beans on Friday if that's agreeable to everyone.

Tracy: Will "pony up" chilled 5 cases of sodas for Friday night. 2 cases of Diet Coke, 2 cases of Regular Coke, and 1 case of Regular Sprite.

For All: Those arriving Thursday and need help getting into your slip, do not hesitate calling me. I live only 10 minutes from Whittaker Pointe. Number: 671-6660.

The Deckhand sends!

Tracy: Don't know what I was thinking when I said 5 cases of soda. Must have been counting boats coming instead of folks coming. Going to up that soda count to 15 cases.

Tracy, where is the boat ramp that we launch at? Sorry, I mean "at which we launch!" Never end a sentence with a preposition...

Charlie

Charlie? Them there words you use makes you sound like one of them there English teachers. Then again I ain't got no formal bringings ups.

Tracy probably knows more than I do about the situation, but I do not believe there is a ramp at the marina.

That being the case you may want to launch at the public boat launch in Oriental.

If so just follow 55 East in to Oriental. Watch your speed as there are lots of pedestrians (people walking) and lots of bicyclists (people on bikes). Oh, and a multitude of dogs (canine-type creatures) everywhere.

Watch for the grocery store on your left. Just past the grocery store there is a street that bears to the right (Midyette Street). Drive even slower on Midyette street as there are a lot of kids & dogs. The kids play on the street. The dogs find it a great place to sleep.

Follow Midyette Street approximately 7 blocks and the street will end. That is where the water begins. Most people turn around and back in to the water, but the final decision is yours.

I live about 100 yards from there. Please let me know if you are going to pull in to the water as opposed to backing in. I have never seen that done before...

If you decide to launch there call me. I'll be happy to drive your rig to Whittaker Pointe for you.

Hell, let a six-pack on the seat and I'll be happy to drink it for you on the way! :beer :beer :beer

We are planning to attend this event, and it will be our first. However we don't know that our boat will be ready by then. We are currently finalizing the deal on our first 22 cruiser and don't know that the boat will be in the water by then (showing up in our bass boat would not have the same effect).

As this is scheduled as a 3 day event, I guess I am curious as to how everything works. If anyone could offer any guidance as to what, where and how, it would be greatly appreciated. We would really like to be a part of this and start getting aquainted with some C-Brats.

Hello Ernie & Erma  My name is Tracy "Dragonfly" . I am one of the folks setting up the NC Gathering. You are more than welcome to come to the Gathering with or without the new boat ! It will be Friday, Saturday and Sunday last weekend in Sept. We meet at Whittakers Pointe Marina just outside of Oriental. Friday night is a Pot Luck dinner. Everyone brings some FOOD to share with everyone else . Saturday we are planning a choice of 3 boat cruises and Sunday we hope to have some coffee and pastries before everyone goes off on their on way. Some folks are planning a day trip on Sunday. I will PM You my cell number and you can call me with any other questions or email me at tcmunson@windstream.net If you plan to stay on your boat at the Marina give Ashley or Carole a call at Whittakers Pointe marina . If you need a room to stay in I suggest River Neuse Suites or Oriental Marina & Inn. There are a few B&B as well.

Is it too late to sign up for this year?

We had a wonderful time last year and planned to return this year. When it turned out to be 9/24 I had decided not to come--Friday is my mother's 88th birthday and I wanted to be with her. However, the other day I was wearing my T-shirt from last year and she asked why we weren't going this year. She would not hear of my staying around for her birthday weekend. Mothers!

Obviously it is too late for new t-shirts, but is there still room at the dock? Would the triple chocolate cheesecake do for Friday night?
