10/02 - 10/06 - “Meet in the Middle” C-Brat Gathering

We are looking forward to this Gathering, but it looks like we’ll have a cottage rather than Cat O’ Mine. The trailer has been in the shop since June 4, awaiting torsion axles which are somewhere in someone's snarled supply chain. We had to cancel the Trent Severn/Georgian Bay/Northern Small Craft trip. The engines are overdue for 100 hour service after the 1,300 water miles around all Florida’s coasts in May including water pumps @ 200 hours, which are beyond my skill set and can’t be done in a wet slip.

I noted some stiffness in shifting the port F150 at our last outing. Today it wouldn’t shift at all, stuck hard partly toward Reverse while making a thrashing-gears racket. The likelihood of the trailer and engine being repaired in five work days is about zero. We might still be able to trailer up and cruise down the TennTom to Mobile and our home marina aboard NAS PNS in mid Oct or later.

Mike, we’re still agreeable to discuss Locking (@ 200) if needed.

It’s a boat, it’s always something.

If no one was killed or seriously injured, and if the total damage after all deductibles and copays is under a Boat Unit, then…
IT WAS A GOOD BOATING DAY!!!
We’ve had a lot of them.

Thanks, John! I will have you do a talk on "Locking Through" on Wednesday night, after our "Winner, Winner Chicken Dinner"
Thank you for your willingness to help! Hope your boat and trailer gets fixed!

Mike, it’d be worth checking with Prizer when you get there who they have signed up. I know of at least one or two others that have not signed up on C-Brats but have mentioned coming on the Facebook C-Dory groups page.

. I will be putting out a "final" (if "final" is ever really final) schedule for the week. Mostly, the days will be your to cruise, we will have activities in the evening. Some games and tournaments will be there as well.

We are planing our meals now, and wondered about the dinner meals: Tuesday is a Pot luck, and Wednesday is a "chicken dinner". As I understand it. Are there any more "Communal" meals?

Thanks!

Foote Loose is planning go attend.
Foote Loose and Keith are currently in Havana Ill.
My float plan is looking like I will arrive on Tuesday.
Baring anything unforeseen.

I've been following your youtube videos and wondered if our wakes would cross while we cruise the area the month of October. Your going to make the gathering famous :D

Mike has asked me to give a little talk on cruising the Cumberland River, on Monday. I'm reviewing some thoughts, but if anyone has any suggestions, tips or questions for me to consider, I'm all ears! If anyone is interested, I might also share some of my experience and knowledge regarding trailering, to add a little more fluff to the talk, as I trailer around 10,000 miles a year. :) Also, while waiting for Mike to post a more exact schedule, I also am still looking to lead a group up to Lighthouse Landing Marina, very near Patti's Settlement, on Tuesday. If that works out, assuming availability at the marina, we can dock for 4 free hours at the transient dock. This is a 20 mile one way trip into Kentucky Lake and I would plan to run around 15 or 16 kts, a hair slow for my 25, but I think a good cruising speed for the 22's. I would look at us leaving right at 10am, getting to Lighthouse Landing around 11:30a, and then departing at 3p to get back to Prizer Point by 4:30p. You can google Patti's Settlement to see what's available. It is an interesting place. See you all next week! Colby

We’ve been out for about 3 weeks on the Cumberland now. Went as far as Old Hickory lake and are now back at Prizer Point for a couple days. Anchored out most nights with stops at Clarksville marina and Commodore Yacht Club. Colby I’ll be glad to show you the anchorage’s we used. There are a lot of good ones but take some care with the winter pool. We plan on heading out for a few days on the hook Friday but will be back Monday.

Looking forward to seeing everyone at the Gathering!

I am wondering at what time the potluck dinner at the marina will occur, and especially in reference to the group going to Patti's Settlement, and preparation of food. I will probably have to bring the dirt dinghy to get from Lighthouse landing to Patti'a settlement. No problem, it quickly breaks down into 5 pieces, nor more than 30# for the heaviest piece.

Final (maybe) Agenda! Some changes have been made
Note: I will be at site 37. I will have a Green Easyup, and from my 5th wheel, flying the US flag atop a "skull and crossbones" . I'm pretty sure no one else will have that combination. Looking forward to seeing you there!

Well, it may be better to call it "Introduction to cruising the Cumberland and Tennessee Rivers, and Trailering". To be honest, other than Patti's Settlement, I haven't much experience with the land area. I can discuss some of the cruising along Land Between the Lakes. :)

As of now, I believe for the Lighthouse Landing cruise, I have the crew from Cat-O-Mine and Txmntman aboard. (Mike, is it just you, or you and spouse?) Colby

Colby, Dana and I would love to join you. We will bring our own life jackets, so you don't have to worry about that. Thank you!!

Noted. :)

Heads up for those cruising to the Lighthouse Landing Marina. I just made some calls to Grand Rivers, where the Lighthouse and Patti's Settlement are located. It is pretty much out of season for most the other restaurants in the area. There is the Village Market and Cafe, and their cafe is open until 2:30. Otherwise Patti's highly suggests reservations. My plans are for leading the cruise, but letting everyone do their own thing at Grand Rivers. Patti's has some neat shops, and there is a petting zoo and gooney golf in the area. Those will all be open. The restaurant couldn't really tell me how busy it might be on a week day, but definitely not like a weekend. I suspect the prices there will be on the high side. (In the past we've eaten at other restaurants.) For a group reservation of 20 or more, requires a contract and $200 just to reserve. Otherwise, with reservations for up to 19, it would involve two tables in two different areas, and the sooner the reservations made, the better. Not having any idea how many are going or what everyone's desire is, I'm leaving it open. Patti's Settlement restaurant phone number is (270) 362-8844. If you desire to make your own reservations, might be a wise choice. I expect we'd get to Lighthouse Landing at 11:30am, if we leave Prizer at 10am. Patti's is about a 15 minute walk from the transient dock.

Ok, more about Patti's. I just made a reservation for Rosanne and I at 12:30 on Tuesday. This is how it works. You have to give them a credit card number to hold your reservation. The card is not charged to hold the reservation. However, if you are a no-show, they will charge it $35 per person. You can cancel up till your reservation time. My plans are to check out what's available at the Village Market and Cafe by noon, and if we eat there, cancel out Patti's. If not, we know we have reservations at Patti's. Again, this is just for my wife and I. If anyone else is interested in eating at Patti's, I suggest you call ahead. They do however accept walk-ins, depending upon availability after reservations. I'll go over this again Monday evening... Colby

This is keith foote on foote loose.
I left alton illinois this morning and recently left hoppies.
If my float plan holds true I should be there monday.

I want to order a new tac and hydraulic fluid to be delivered at the gathering.
I have attempted to contact a live person for an address with no success.
For 3 days I have been leaving messages no return call.
To make a reservation plus asking about an address to ship items to.
No one has returned my messages
Also
I have a 2007 honda 90.
I think I need a new one.
Are there any suggestions on which tack I should purchase?
I took a picture of the backside and cannot read any model numbers.
The only thing I know about the current tag is it is a honda tac

Is there a particular place to signup for individual events (e.g. chicken dinner)? All I can find is the event list under "Event Signups" which is just a group list.

I am single in a 22, so I have some room for the Tuesday cruise if needed.

Keith, I can bring the stuff you want if you can get it to my house NLT Friday 9/29. PM me for the address (SW Michigan) if you want to do this. Hydraulic fluid I may be able to get at the local marine store if you tell me the spec you need.

Keith We are at Prizer Point now. I talked to Shane at the Marina and they have 4 spaces left. I’ve been told the answering device has had problems. The number to call is 270-522-3762. If no one answers send me a PM with your number and I’ll walk over to the office and have them call you. They do NOT accept packages! Strange..when we did the loop last year I had many things sent to different marinas.

They will want a credit card to hold.

Tom
