OF THE SANTA BARBARA CHANNEL
When it comes to fresh seafood, you can’t get it any fresher than right off the boat. On October 13, 2007, from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., the Santa Barbara Harbor & Seafood Festival lures seafood lovers of all ages to Santa Barbara’s thriving Harbor for one of the community’s most beloved and flavorful events. Timed to celebrate the opening of commercial lobster season (October 4th), the annual benefit for the Page Youth Center showcases a plethora of delectable regional seafood specialties, in addition to cooking demonstrations, interactive maritime education, unique children’s activities, boat rides, live music, a tall-ship visit and much more. Since 2002, the annual Harbor and Seafood Festival has become Santa Barbara’s signature autumn event. It brings people together for a day full of fun and good memories.

We are keeping our fingers crossed, and so far it looks like we will be able to attend this years Santa Barbara Cruise. Besides, since Roger isn't letting PJ go to the Catalina gathering, we wouldn't see her until next year!

Thanks Sam,
It will be great to see you and Kerry, too  I've added you to the list above.

We have tried to work a trip to Painted Cave on the return trips of prior cruises- I think we will try to make it out to Painted Cave on Friday-- on our way to Santa Barbara. Weather permitting, we will run out to Santa Cruz Island and up to the cave, anchor for a small brunch and take a cruise into the cave (with dinghies, motors off). Bring a powerful hand held spotlight.
Approximate distance-
Channel Islands Harbor - Painted Cave 37 miles
Painted Cave - Santa Barbara 25 miles
Total 62 miles

Right now, every thing is covered with ash from the Zaca fire 20 miles away. The fire has been burning for over a month now and should (I hope) be out by the time we cruise.

Roger.... I officially signed up on yer list.... I will make sure I am home at least a day or two beforehand to clean and get the boat ready.... I would love to join in on the painted cave group..... never have been in that one... looks fun.

On Thursday 8/30 I taking Gizmo to Channel Isl. C-Dory dealer. Tim is the guy who will help me sell Gizmo. I sail from San Francisco on a 44'er headed for the Baha Haha on or about the 13th of Oct. You have a great Santa Barbara Cruise. See you next year.

OK Steve, have fun at the Baha Haha. I've heard wild stories about it.
See you next year on a 19' or 22'.

Requesting the race packet from the Harbor today.

I missed the Catalina trip, but I expect I can catch up with you at this festival. I called the harbor and learned they don't do slip reservations, but the lady said they have lots of 25 ft slips and there will likely be openings. I'd plan to trailer up from Vista and join you at Channel Islands Marina for the trip up Friday. What's your take on the odds of getting slips? CD 22 cruiser.

Jeff

Jeff...Roger (Fishtales) handles all this for us. He makes arangements for the entire group at once...so you will for sure have a slip. He will collect the fees and forward one check to the harbor. Make sure he has your address so he can send you the packet...and you can get your check to him. Also helps if you are on the sign up list for the cruise...click on event signups at the top of the page.
Roger and Patty do a fabulous job making the arrangements for this cruise...it is always just wonderful. He'll be along soon with more details.

I recieved the cruise packet from the Harbor today. I will be sending the out this week to the following crews:

Jeff (Green Bean?)- 22' 1? guest
Jeff (C-Pelican)- 22' 1? guest
Scott (Li'l Rascal)- 22' 1? guest
Ron (Little Cute-C)- 22' 2 guests
Mike (Sealife)- 22' 1 guest
Joel (SEA3PO)- 22' 2 guests
Chris (Rana Verde)- 22' 1 guest
Steve (Dora Jean) - 25' 2? guests
Roger (Fishtales)- 22' 2 guests
Ron (Islander)- 22' 1? guest
Roy (Water Lillie) - 22' 2 guests
Sam (Salty-C's) - 22' 2 guests
John (?) - 22' 2 guests

Please fill out the information card and return with a check made out to me. (The Harbor requires that I pay them with one check)
Hopefully we can get the same dock that we've had the past two years in marina 1. With 13 boats, we may have to have to spread out a couple of boats in other slips. I think John likes a slip closer to the gate (if I remember correctly)
PARTY TIME on the docks!!!

Steve- yes they allow side ties on end docks
Mike- Are you sure your back is not going out again? Just tell us, oh great leader of the SoCal Flotilla, you found another love :cry
I guess if we have to, we'll take seconds  - see ya on Saturday.
