$10 burger

Cheeseburger and fries, my favorite.

And my favorite place is the Steakburger at 7120 NE Hiwy 99 in Vancouver, Washington. I'm not sure if it's the sauce or the type of burger but I can never pass by without stopping in.

OK, If we are getting out of the Seattle area a bit, here are two great places for burgers.

Winn's Drive In, in Fairhaven (Bellingham) and

The Scale Shack Burger Drive In, in Elbe, Washington.

Thanks Robbi for moving the thread outside Seattle...

Next time you're in Ketchikan....

Go to the "Burger Queen" (no reservations necessary) and order their Seattle Burger and fries.

Now to even top that - have them deliver your burger and fries directly across the street to the Artic Bar (oldest in Ketchikan) where you'll be enjoying a cold Alaskan Amber and being entertained by Paula* (the owner).

...just a suggestion.

Best,
Casey
* if you're offended by classic Alaskan speech, you might want to wear earplugs. Paula's speech can be pretty colorful.

Out of Seattle? Okay. Oslo - two Big Macs with fries, $50.00 USD. Pretty good, and pizza is only $40.00 and much better :cry

Marty, look what you started. Talk about the universal language.

Can any of us (honestly) claim to eschew the savory, sensuous delight of a cheesy, beefy, greasy, mound of delicious transfats, dripping down our palms, under our sleeve, tickling our elbow and coating our hearts? Meanwhile, a (large) bag of thin, oily potatoes wait to join the churning mixture of infatuation, soon liquidated in an explosion of lascivious lust, as if a shark after a salmon.

Make mine a double.

OK, if we're going outside the Seattle area, try Cheeseburger in Paradise on Front Street in Lahaina, Maui. A big ol' bacon cheeseburger with chili-cheese fries... and a view of the water with boats on mooring balls in the foreground and the island of Lanai at the horizon.

I can feel the warm breeze... I kinda remember warm breezes... and a sunset over the water... wait, I knew it: I have forgotten how to sweat!! :crook

Wendy's? Jack in the Box? Now I'm homesick for the Texas original: Whataburger! (If you're gonna eat a fast-food burger).

Now I have to go get me a bison-burger. 8)

Best wishes,
Jim

PS - Brock, you can probably live longer by not eating that "greasy mound of delicious transfats"... but, sprouts and twigs just make it SEEM like time is standing still.

XXX Rootbeer, 98 NE Gilman Blvd, Issaquah. A place right out of my 50's child hood. Add handipped Bryers ice cream straight from the creamery in Philly and you have Herzenberg's Drugstore, no kidding. "Hey Sally, which is bigger? Two five cent Cokes or one 10 cent Coke?"

Ah, Lahaina! My college roommate, Lee Munimitsu, is the owner of Take Home Maui, that store in the green building where you can get stuff shipped anywhere...the sun is shining in Lahaina right now. No grey skies and cold rain (here), no snow (Yellowstone), damn, wish I were there right now! But I stand by my original advice to Marty, the BEST cheeseburger in America (plus chocolate malt) is at Scott's Dairy Freeze in North Bend...I wonder if Marty every made it there? I know he was headed there one day, he called for directions...never heard the rest of the story! Marty?

Brock - I have seen what you eat, bud - an apple, an orange and a banana. You are all talk!

You never know who you may run into at that Maui cheesburger place :)

another vote here for the Steakburger in Hazeldale & they have a fun little mini golf course too

If in Longview, Nips is the place to go.

Brock,yer killin me

Running I-5 - Cottonwood, CA. On the main drag - Roger's Frosty Stand makes a "Macho Burger" hard to beat. A big meat patty cooked to your order, plenty of extras including great onions, the bun warmed and then on the grill for just a minute, crunchy fries with a great dipping sauce + a drink for under $7. Store ownership and staff have changed since 1978 (when we moved there) but quality has not! Dang - just thinking about it makes me drool but it is definitely off limits to my diet right now.

Well, if you limit it to I-5, you'll miss XXX Barrel, Scott's Dairy Freeze and the Riverside Tavern - I say we have the I-5 / I-90 Coronary Challenge. I'm pretty sure I-90 takes the cake. The LaBoomba at the Riverside blows any old I-5 burger away just for pure size...

we need to set up a CBCC, or, C-Brat Coronary Cruise. We could charter a bus and just work our way down I5 :)

we need to get some huge goverment grant to determine which interstate has the best burger joints :)

on the beverage front, I see where some foreigners are trying to buy Budwiser. That would be the pits if foreigners controlled the nations beer supply....I tell ya, we need to get to drilling for more beer, and start building more beer refineries

When you've got them by their breweries, their hearts and minds will follow.

Read all about it here. Goings-on in the American light lager business mean little or nothing to us. "Imported" beers? Stella Artois = Belgian Budweiser. Corona = Mexican Budweiser. The King of Beers my ass! I will make an astonishing admission though...I did enjoy the tour in Golden and that Coors Banquet Beer at the end was OK. But it is all piss water compared to Wildcat IPA or Copperhead Pale Ale or Haystack Hef! I say let InBev have them all, so more people can try good old American microbrew!

I got kicked in the breweries once, ouch.

Aw Pat, I don't drink much beer, and what beer I do, isn't from any of the major beer refineries. The worry is what will become of NASCAR, rodeo & bowling with Bud owned by some Euro goobers, you're going to start seeing cricket and polo sponserd by Bud, when you go to the opera, there'll be big Bud banners hanging all over...we need to open up ANWR to more drilling & development, ANWR (Anderson's Natonal Wildcat Reserve)

B~C, who's killin' who? This place is full of comedians, but the dry, droll dude down by the river wears the top hat.

Pat, those silly apples and stuff were shelved yesterday, and man, today I pay. Nephew graduated from Issaquah High School yesterday and the dudes wanted to dine at Red Robin.

Used to be I could scarf a Monster Burger like a bat gobbles a gnat. These days a simple cheeseburger is plenty challenging. Course, two baskets of deliciously greasy fries might have been a factor.
